Story
Meet Cherry! Just as sweet as her name, Cherry is an adult girly who is very calm and easy going. She has done so well so far in all of the introductions she has had with other pups in the shelter! She is very playful with other dogs when given the opportunity, and can be a little rowdy so she'd need to have dog friends that can handle her rambunctious play style. Cherry has excellent leash manners and has so far done well with introductions to other dogs on walks. We estimate her to be around 2 years old. If you're interested in meeting Cherry, visit the shelter or email adoptpetersburg@gmail.com with "Cherry" in the subject line.

Story
Candy is such a sweet girl! She's a little lazy couch potato looking for her comfy home. She came in with her friend, Pumpkin, found as strays. They're a bit of a bonded pair, so we're keeping our fingers crossed that they can find the perfect home together. They're as sweet as can be, walk well on leash, are good with other dogs and ADORE people. They eat at the same time, and when Candy decides she needs a little change of scenery for a second, cause she been looking at Pumpkin for too long, she picks up her bowl with the food still in it and moves herself over a few feet. They are little hams and will keep you laughing and bathed in doggy kisses! Both are young adults around 2 to 3 years of age and weigh in around 45 lbs. If you're interested in meeting Candy, visit the shelter or email adoptpetersburg@gmail.com with "Candy" in the subject line.

Meet Pumpkin! She came in with her friend, Candy, and is super sweet. They are a bit of a bonded pair, so we're trying our hardest to find them the perfect home together. Pumpkin adds the spunk and playful energy to this cute little duo - whereas Candy is the more mellow couch potato of the two. Tully is new to the shelter and we're still getting to know her. She seems if very affectionate and is great on a leash. She is on the smaller side, 40-45 lbs, and about 1.5 years old. Story
Meet Chips ahoy! You might recognize me from the news story a few weeks ago about my journey. If you didn't let me tell you about it! I was seen wondering around for approximately two weeks going back and forth from Petersburg to Colonial Heights wearing my collar and leash. I unfortunately was to scared and I was great at playing hide and seek until a lovely citizen who lived in Colonial Heights was finally able to save me! I was then brought to the Colonial Heights Shelter where I stayed getting gourmet meals and all the love (I should've let them catch me sooner) but unfortunately my owner never came and got me so now I am looking for a new home to call my own! I am a strong boy who loves to play. You can often find me playing catch or tug of war (which I always win) in the play yard. I love attention of people but not so much other animals. I do well going on walks when I see another dog but the shelter staff is still working with me.(Dog test pending) I would do best in a home with a fenced in yard as I really do love to run and lay out in the sun. I am 2 years young already neutered and microchipped and looking to find my furver home!

Story
🐾 Meet Gramps: A Gentleman in Need of a Loving Retirement Home! 🐾 Meet Gramps, a stately gentleman who, unfortunately, found himself at the shelter instead of a retirement home. But this amazing boy isn't complaining, and he's ready to find his forever home. Gramps is a true testament to the enduring spirit of our furry friends. He may be a bit older, but he's got more love to give than ever before. If given a choice, he'd prefer a comfortable couch over a Kuranda bed and quieter roommates to share it with. This gentle soul radiates a warmth and wisdom that's impossible to ignore. He's experienced the ups and downs of life, and he's ready to enjoy his golden years in a loving and caring environment. Gramps is the perfect companion for someone who appreciates the value of a seasoned, kind-hearted friend. At the shelter, Gramps has been experiencing a bit of stress, as any of us would in such a situation. However, he still loves to go on walks with our volunteers, showing that he has plenty of life and energy left to share with his new family. There's a twinkle in his eye that suggests he's eager for new adventures and experiences. Don't miss out on the chance to adopt Gramps and give him the loving retirement home he truly deserves. He's patiently waiting for that special person or family to open their hearts and homes to him. Gramps is not just looking for a house; he's looking for a place where he can be cherished and loved for the rest of his days. Come meet this remarkable gentleman and experience the joy of providing him with a second chance at happiness. Gramps is ready to fill your life with warmth, companionship, and endless love. To meet Gramps and see if he's the perfect fit for your family, visit Hopewell Animal Services at 507 Station Street, approximately 200 yards behind the downtown Fire Department. If you have any questions or would like to schedule a meet and greet with Gramps, please call them at 804-541-2204. You won't regret opening your heart and home to this wonderful soul. Let's ensure that Gramps gets to enjoy his golden years in the loving retirement home he deserves. Adopt Gramps today and be part of his heartwarming journey! 🏡❤️🐾 #AdoptGramps #ForeverHome #SeniorDogLove
