Story
Grab your tissues! (No seriously, we're warning you - you will need them!) After presumably living her life on a chain (she was wearing a nasty, thick collar that was coated in dirt and filth that made it hard to remove), Annabelle was dumped in the overnight dropbox while in labor with TEN puppies. Poor momma had to deliver all by herself on the cold concrete floor overnight. We're just thankful she was left somewhere safe, temperature-controlled, with access to water, and where she would be found by loving humans who could help her! Despite her rough start and being abandoned at the most vulnerable time of her life, momma Annabelle was such a sweet girl and let the shelter staff handle her babies immediately - like she knew they were there to help. Annabelle was the BEST momma who took great care of her babies and always kept her area clean. Annabelle is treat motivated and knows how to sit and catch treats! She is a sweetheart who enjoys pets, short walks, catching hotdogs, and being safe and loved. This beautiful girl needs a home where she will be cherished as the true queen that she is and NEVER neglected or abandoned again! From her current foster (6/2024): "Annabelle is a loving pittie girl. She's super sweet and goofy! She loves her people and just wants to be with you. She loves toys and kongs. She always greets me with tapping toes and a toy In her mouth. She follows me around and "helps me with yard work. She does well with other dogs as well as integrated and adjusted with time. She likes calm dogs, and gets over excited with other energetic dogs. She gets zoomies when excited and it's so funny! Once I was sitting on the ground with her and she zoomie jumped right over my head. She always has a big goofy smile, it warms everyone's heart! Once comfortable she's very calm, and loves to nap! She's just looking for a forever understanding home where she can adjust and live a happy life as a companion! She bonds quickly to her people, and is a very loyal gal. She does have anxiety in the kennel while adjusting but settles with peanut butter kong." From her past foster: "Annabelle has no aversion to the crate, is slightly reactive to loud cars and bunnies but is doing better with it every day. She almost never barks and loves to cuddle all day! I'm absolutely in love with this dog and would recommend her to absolutely everyone! From her previous foster: "Annabelle is SUCH a sweet girl! She will steal your heart in no time. You can tell how caring she was as a mama because she is so gentle with things she loves (like her one special toy). She was very nervous at first but has become so brave and is becoming more comfortable in a home! She can still be nervous to go back outside but is working really hard on making sure she goes outside to go potty. She's getting so confident! She loves people and is usually interested in checking out other dogs as well. Annabelle raised her family and now is looking for a family of her own!! Annabelle is the sweetest girl and is definitely a velcro dog! If you are looking for a constant companion who will be incredibly loyal, dedicated, and want to always be by your side, Annabelle is your gal! Sweet Annabelle and her "A" babies have arrived! These babies were born in the overnight dropbox of our rescue partner after momma was dumped while in labor! Read momma's story on her profile: https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/AAAR-A-708 These babies are ready for their forever homes where they will be safe and loved! Dumped in overnight dropbox - https://youtube.com/shorts/LVbe455rWKo From Adam's Current Foster: " Adam is doing great and has had a lot of specialization! He is very very well behaved and knows when to play and when to shut it off and relax! He has now been around my cat and loves to chase her around. He doesn't like to be alone at all and does not like when I leave him in his crate by himself... Definitely has separation anxiety. Likes to be at the hip of me! He is getting better and better at realizing potty is outside only! From Adam's Previous Foster: "Adam -Things he likes: loves to play and meet new people. His favorite thing is to cuddle and take naps on whoever he's with. -doesn't like: leashes and being tugged on walks. However, he bites the leash less with each walk. He also doesn't like being left alone/being put in his crate. -crate training: not a lot of progress has been made. He barks nonstop till he gets attention but is great when taken out. -potty training progress: he gets better each day and knows outside is best. He only goes inside when he has not been let out for more than 3 hours. -sociability: loves to meet other dogs and humans but he bites playfully when exited. -cats/humans: Adam has not met any cats or kiddos with me. Extremely loyal to whoever is his caretaker. Amazing dog and very smart. Story
Meet Jake This handsome man is Jake Gyllenpaws. Jake is a real model and is good at stealing hearts with his good looks. His foster mom says Jake has the “model look” to him. He lays down and when you stop petting him, he looks back at you with "Blue Steel." Of course, this look often ends with more pets and kisses for the sweet boy. How could you not just love all over this boy? Jake loves to cuddle on the couch and be by your side soaking up all the love. After being stuck in the shelter, Jake has been working so hard on his doggie manners and wants to show you how far he's come. He can sit, lie down, and has been working on learning to stay. He is potty trained and loves to be outside in a yard with his family. He doesn’t much care for the crate, but his foster family is committed to showing him it can be a pawsitive place. Jake is a gentle boy and sensitive. After his last vet visit, he looked quite sad, so his foster mom took him to get a pup-cup and it made him very happy again. Jake will require continued spoiling and love, as he deserves the best. Jake is living with 2 other dogs in his foster family and loves having play mates. They get along very well outside of treat time. Jake would prefer not to share. It’s likely best to feed Jake separately from other resident dogs since he’s still learning that sharing is caring. This Jake Gyllenpaws isn’t a fan of cats. A home without felines is best for him. Jake is a Velcro boy and loves to be with his family. His human foster brother is turning out to be his best friend. Jake is learning to be gentle with him because he gets so excited when he sees him. Although Jake hasn’t met any smaller children, we think he would do well with kids over 10. He does like zoomies and with his zest for life, he may knock over the smaller ones trying to play. Sweet Jake is a real lap dog at heart and loves being by your side. If you're looking for an energetic and loving pup to join your family, Jake Gyllenpaws could be the perfect match for you! To see more pictures and videos of Jake copy and paste this link, you can apply directly for Jake by clicking the “Apply for Adoption” button on the linked page. https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-170 All our dogs come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. This benefit includes free access to Petcademy’s team of trainers/behaviorists, as well as access to online materials that will help you settle your new family member into your home. Story
When it comes to changing a life, it takes a village. Partnering with a local animal shelter and All Breed Rescue & Training, if we are able to find a foster for a girl named Sunshine, she comes with a village built-in! And you know if she has this many people who believe in her and the life she could have, she's something very special.  Found abandoned and terrified in the Denver area, “Sunny” is a beautiful 4yr old American Staff/Corso mix. Sunny was clearly abused and overbred, so, understandably, she is slow to warm up to new people, is still pretty afraid of most of the world and doesn’t trust other animals. However, once you win her over (which isn’t to hard to do with a few good treats), she will become your most loyal companion and will show you nothing but love, playfulness and an unbreakable bond.  The amazing All Breed Rescue & Training has offered to bring her into their program & care at their Colorado Springs facility, supporting both Sunny and her foster family. But this is only possible if Underdogs is able to find her a dedicated foster. Her foster home requirements are an adult only home as the only pup, in/near/willing to travel to CO Springs for potential in-person foster training, experience with large breed dogs/dogs with some fearfulness and mild reactivity, and who are committed long-term, if necessary. Sunny is truly an amazing dog and though it sounds like she has a lot stacked up against her, she has a whole network of support behind her to make sure she is successful in her new home. So many people would say "no" to a dog like Sunny, but we know her sunniest sides - everything that is loving, endearing and oh so darling - will warm the right heroes heart and help her overcome her heartbreaking past. If you feel you may be a good fit for Sunny and would like to be considered as her foster and/or foster to adopt, please fill out anapplication here: https://underdogsrescue.org/adopt-form/.  Underdogs is a small volunteer-based animal rescue and we unfortunately do not have the resources to respond to phone and email inquires about our adoptable animals at this time. If you're interested in learning more or setting up a meeting with one of our animals, please complete an adoption application first. It may take up to two weeks for application review and one of our coordinators will reach out to you as soon as we are through the intitial review process. We appreciate your patience and understanding! Thank you!  ##1860728##

Story
Meet Kenny! His family is going through a tough time at the moment and he's in need of a great forever home. Kenny is a sassy Bully breed mix who's approximately 1 year old. He's looking for a home where he can be the center of attention. He'd do best with a younger family without kids (and without plans for kids). If you're looking for an adventure dog or sport dog Kenny is your guy! Adopters will need to be interested in training him, taking him on hikes and adventuring in nature. He'd do best in a house or small area that isn't super busy. Kenny LOVES nosework, and when adopted he'll come with some free nosework classes from our partner trainer Blythe at Delta Tails in Greeley, CO. She'll get you started with Kenny's fun enrichment game. This boy is full of energy and he LOVES to be active. He thoroughly enjoyed hikes with his foster family, and did well on the trail with treat distractions when passing other dogs. Kenny has had a rough year of movement and adjustment so he may take a bit of time to settle in. The good news is, you'll have the support of his foster mom and his trainer who have both guided Kenny through this period once before. Some of his favorite things include food, training, playing, chewing, your undivided attention, food, and pets. He's learning how to relax in the home, and as he settles in he's learning to cuddle! He sleeps through the night in his crate with a couple of blankets and has made amazing progress with potty training. Check out his hilarious snoring in his video on our Summit Dog Rescue website: https://www.summitdogrescue.org/meet-kenny-cp.html Here are some important things to consider when adopting Kenny: . You must be willing to put time and effort into training. He responds amazingly, but he does require consistency and patience as his brain matures. . You'll want a good vet to coordinate care with. We can help with recommendations if you need, to support his wellbeing. . You must be patient and willing to put up with some innappropriate mouthing. He responds well to redirection, is muzzle trained, and is easily crated if it gets too intense. This behavior calms down as he settles in, but can be overwhelming. . You must be willing to be all in for the long haul. Kenny has been moved around too much, and he really needs a training-oriented family. . You must be willing to work closely with the trainer we are partnered with, the foster, and the rescue. This will not be an additional expense. . You must be willing to accept the biases (unfortunately) that come with the breed, and train actively to avoid these biases in the community. Kenny is amazing and adorable, but he can appear "scary" to others. . You must be willing to play tug. He THRIVES on tug and tug-based games as they directly benefit his behavior. The photos include one of him in a muzzle because he is muzzle-trained. When stressed, he likes to grab clothes and the leash and shake his head, so he is muzzled for safety sometimes. Recently when he settled in at his foster home, he didn't need the muzzle much. He has done very well with training! For more info and/or to apply to adopt Kenny, contact his trainer Blythe Bouchard: blythe@deltatails.com; website: www.deltatails.com. Thanks.

PERSONALITY A more perfect pintsize pup, one would be hard pressed to find. T-Bell is a petite girl but don't let her size fool you, her love of life and all things dog is XL. T-Bell is as sweet as she is small. One of T-Bell's most impressive talents is her ability to jump...super high. While this is great for catching balls and playing with other dogs it does mean her new home will need to have a tall and secure fence. Despite having a rough start to life she greets each new person and situation the same way she greets every new day, with curiosity and exuberance. One could not ask for a better partner in crime as T-Bell is a total social butterfly. She also enjoys cuddles, sunbathing, toys and other dogs. Overall T-Bell is a truly wonderful, happy girl who is ready to share her big heart and even bigger personality with a furever family. GROOMING NEEDS T-Bell has short fur and needs only basic grooming. Monthly baths, bi-weekly nail trims and brushings are all T-Bell needs to be her most handsome. That said, she is always up for a little extra grooming TLC. Did we mention that adorable underbite?! *Please note, we have witnessed some resource guarding around food with other dogs from T-Bell. From her awesome foster: " Taco-Bell (t-bell) is such a sweet pup. She has a little bit of anxiety at times with new people, especially men, but warms up very quickly if greeted slowly! She thinks she is a lap dog and loves to be cuddling by you. She is also a velcro dog and will love to follow you around. She struggles with her anxiety a little bit in the crate as well, so I have been leaving her out and she just hangs out on the couch and hasn't been destructive at all. She's pretty much potty trained and has just had a few accidents because we didn't get outside in time. Overall, she is a big love bug and would do great with an active lifestyle because she can be full of energy!
