Story
Poor Ziva was found by the local Animal Control as an injured stray. She had multiple slashes across her back and leg. We can only imagine her pain. She had medical treatment and stayed at the local Animal Control. We pulled Ziva on her euthanasia day because we could not give up on her. She actually arrived with her red EU collar on. She has blossomed since being here. Her beautiful blue eyes will melt you and her wounds are healed to a beautiful black velvet. She loves her people. She is good with other dogs, but has a fear of cats and her anxiety can be a threat to them. We estimate her to be around 5 years old.

Story
AVAILABLE NOW- I am in Lake County, Illinois awaiting my forever family. My name is Russ and I am a 1 year old Staffie mix. I am a super sweet and social little boy. I love doggie daycare and my foster family is awesome. I weigh about 40 lbs, so on the smaller side. I am a big baby, I mean puppy! I love to play hard and then nap hard. I love all dogs and get along great with my 2 foster sisters. I also love all people of all sizes! I am very friendly, so sweet and love to cuddle. I know basic training and I have been walking well on a leash with my foster mom and dad. I am housebroken and I am a good listener. My foster parents say I am smart and a fast learner! I will come with the works (Neutered, spayed, up to date on everything, micro chipped, fecal, heart worm tested if age appropriate, heartworm, flea and tick prevented, a free vet visit and medical insurance). What more could a new family ask for? For more information on me and an adoption application please contact my rescue at adoptions@wagginghearts.org. Looking forward to meeting you!! Russel

Story
This handsome hunk is Pluto. He could certainly win America's strongest dog competition. But don't let that fool you, he does have some leash manners. Pluto's motto is "anything you can do I can do too". As a deaf dog Pluto doesn't let it stand in the way of living life to the fullest. Pluto needs someone who will commit to proper training so that he can be his best self. We highly encourage you to research training deaf dogs before you fill out an application. While it may not necessarily be harder, it is certainly different. At this time, we are still trying to determine if he would be good with other dogs. Because he is still working on himself, tiny humans wouldn't be recommended. Pluto is estimated to be about 3 years old. **PLEASE NOTE: We only do meet and greets with dogs by appointment. To meet any dog, you will need to apply and be approved first! **To start the adoption process, please complete our online adoption application at our website http://www.henrycountyhumanesociety.org. We will contact you once your application is approved and set up a time to come and meet Pluto. Filling out an application and meeting Pluto doesn't mean you are required to adopt if you feel it is not a good fit for you.

Story
Meet Phoenix, he is beautiful 3 year old house hippo that doesn't mind dressing up in Rubber Ducky pajamas. Phoenix recently lost his home, no fault of his own however this has left him interviewing new humans. He is house trained, crate trained, good with kids and other dogs. He will walk on a leash but is strong in the beginning pulling, but eventually settles in. He does fine being left for 8 hours while his foster mom works and keeps his crate clean. He is too interested in cats, so we are looking for a home with no cats or small animals. Because of his blocky headed breed, we will require you to own your home, no rentals as we don't want him to wind up homeless again. Phoenix's $300 adoption fee includes his neuter, vaccines, heartworm test and prevention, flea/tick prevention, and microchip registration.
