Story
- Goofy pup who is interested in toys and will likely open up even more once she's in a home environment and has had time to decompress - Recently went on a Dog's Day Out field trip: "Snow is a true delight. Once she's out of her kennel, she is a total love bug complete with butt wiggles. She loves people, walks and playing outside. She gets zoomies outside and is a medium-energy dog. Inside she likes to play with people, play with squeaky and crinkle toys, and eat treats. She wants to be a lap dog and doesn't realize how big she is. She will happily sit and let you love her and scratch her belly. She doesn't mind car rides or the beach, but when she gets tired you'll have to lift her into the car. She is a real gem." - Knows sit and stay - Does best with a harness on walks and is very attentive - Can be socially awkward around other dogs (dog intro required) The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Primary Color: White Weight: 49 Age: 3yrs 0mths 1wks

Story
- Shy pup who can be fearful and may need extra time to warm up to new people and things; will likely open up in a home environment with patience and time - Once he knows you he likes to stick close to you - A huge foodie who loves all treats - they're a great way to build trust with him and help him come out of his shell - Has been uncomfortable with new things and lots of hustle and bustle, so a calm, quiet, predictable home would be best for him - Was very excited to see snow recently and got major zoomies - it was adorable to see him running around, doing "play bows" and wagging his tail - Tends to be an introvert around other dogs and may prefer one-on-one interactions or smaller groups of dog friends; may do better with calm, confident dogs (dog intro recommended) - Young, noisy or busy children can be too much for him (mature home recommended) - We don't know his history with cats - Overall, a really cute guy with a lot of potential - just needs a kind person to help him gain confidence so he can enjoy all the good things in life This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. If you're interested in fostering to adopt, please reach out to meetme@arl-iowa.org.All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Story
- Can be shy at first but has really blossomed in our care and is just the sweetest girl ever! - Leans into people for pets and loves scratches all over her body- Gets the silliest zoomies! - Recently went on a Dog's Day Out field trip: "We took Sweet Potato to Gray's Lake. She enjoyed being around kids and wanted to play with them in the lake. She enjoyed being in the water. She did a good job with kids approaching her for pets. After playing, she settled down nicely with her human friend on the bench blanket and watched all that was happening around her." - Has been confident on a leash here in the shelter and is always excited to go outside - May take some time to warm up to new dogs and may prefer some dogs over others; would be most comfortable with a slow introduction to new dogs (dog intro recommended) This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. ❤️Sometimes love is right in front of you ... and you just miss the connection. This dog is part of our Missed Connections club - a group of our most patient pups who've been waiting longer than others to find their soulmate. Take a closer look - they could be your perfect match! Adoption fee: $45. A lifetime of love: Priceless.❤️---HOW TO ADOPT: This dog is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this dog, please email Petbehavior@arl-iowa.org. ---- A total foodie and couch potato; may have a spurt of energy occasionally, but this guy is all about short walks and relaxation time - great for someone looking for a dog who is NOT high-energy - Absolutely brilliant and will do anything for snacks, so sky's the limit for training; already knows sit, down, and go to place, and has fantastic leash manners and a perfect heel- Would rather do training games with snacks than run around or play with toys- Still gets very excited - think of him like an adolescent puppy - and has trouble calming when he is overstimulated, but he has learned a lot during his time with us and responds well to redirection; he also has an automatic sit for treats- Spent time in a foster home and did well both kenneled and free-roaming when his family was gone for short periods; also was cuddly, did well in the car and was fully potty trained - just remember that any dog may need time to get used to a new schedule - Will need extra time to acclimate to a new home, so he's looking for people who can give him that and a good routine as he settles in- The energy of young, busy kids will likely be too much for him, so he's looking for a calm, mature home with people who are comfortable working with a dog who still acts like a teenager sometimes; will thrive with patient, consistent people who can read his signals - Has been participating in dog play groups here at the shelter and while he's pretty socially awkward, he does have good interactions with other compatible dogs and likes to wrestle and do sumo moves; may not be an ideal candidate for average dog parks with all types of dog energies and personalities, but he can do well with like-minded dog friends in a more controlled environment (dog intro required) - Fun fact: DNA testing showed he is 58% American Staffordshire terrier, 25% American pit bull terrier, and 17% Staffordshire bull terrier- May have allergies (more info at ARL) This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program.
