Story
River is a smart, housebroken, crate trained, and food motivated approx one year old mix.. His foster home has been working on leash skills and he already knows several basic commands. He would do fantastic with a single young adult or child-free couple who have some experience with dogs already and can continue to build on the foundation they have been working on. He is young and has a lot to learn. River’s ideal home has: A dog his size that will play with him and help him learn doggy social skills, his foster home only has small old pups and he wants them to play so badly. A fenced in yard for zoomies and games of fetch (Eventually he might even learn to bring the ball back!) He’s never attempted to escape the yard but a 6’ tall fence is recommended so he’s never tempted. He can leap clear over the couch… Maybe agility training is in his future! No small kids - he is fostered with several kids, as young as 4 years old, but is very much a puppy at heart does not seem to realize his own size and strength and can still be a bit unpredictable. Lots of durable toys like Kongs and Benebones available. He LOVES to chew on toys but does a really good job only chewing what he’s allowed too. Stuffed animals with squeakers are a blast for him - albeit very short lived!

Story
Hey Jude… If ever there were a puppy who could make you grin just by glancing your way, it’s this little guy. Jude is a cheerful, floppy-eared sweetheart who seems convinced that life is all about playing, cuddling, and trotting around with his dog friends. His easy, joyful energy draws people in immediately. At his vet visit, we learned Jude has a juvenile cataract in his left eye. His right eye sees perfectly, and you would never know anything is different by watching him zoom, explore, and do all his normal puppy things. He doesn’t bump into objects, doesn’t hesitate, and absolutely keeps up with the other dogs. Our vet noted that this appears to be a typical juvenile cataract and, as of now, it doesn’t require any treatment. Most importantly, it doesn’t bother him at all. Jude is doing great with crate training and sleeps through the night like a pro. He’s also making good progress with potty training — a few accidents here and there, but well within the normal puppy learning curve. He adores other dogs, loves people, and carries himself like a tiny social butterfly with big places to be. And those ears… they truly deserve their own fan club. If you’re looking for a joyful, loving companion who greets the world with an open heart and a wag, Jude might be your perfect match. You can apply for him at pipsrescue.org/adopt. ##2588498##

Name / Breed / Age: Leela , American Staffy, Adult  Personality Traits: Happy go lucky, The Velcro Pup, The Brave Pup Likes / Dislikes:  Absolutely loves showing off her stuffed animals as soon as you walk in the door (and you have to acknowledge said toy). Leela is a true survivor and so resilient. After a being saved from neglect, she’s got a new lease on life. She is extremely loving and loyal & wants to meet every person she meets. She’s a cuddle bug and prefers to sleep on your pillow with you or curled up beside you. She has no accidents in the house and doesn’t chew on pillows, shoes, furniture, etc. She is extremely treat motivated and the sweetest cuddle bug. She knows a few basic commands (sit, shake, other paw, come, leave it). Funny little goofball who truly just wants to give love and receive it in return. She can be apprehensive about other dogs, so slow and proper introductions are a must. She’s a cancer survivor & just an all around warrior. ##2374916##

Story
We first met Hank (aka Wrinkle Daddy) 5 years ago at our local shelter. We were told at the time that he was 2 years old, making him 7 now. We instantly fell in love with his sweet face and goofy personality and took him home that day. Hank looks forward to a daily walk but otherwise is the ultimate couch companion! This snuggly and affectionate guy loves to curl up with people and will even ask to get under a blanket with you if you’re inclined to let him. Hank has received professional training and responds to basic commands. He is very food motivated which makes additional treat training easier. We love this dog and think he would make a great solo pet for the right household!

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Hi there! My name is Josephine. Thanks for checking out my bio! I'm roughly 4 years old, but a true lady never reveals her age. Other than that, I don't have many secrets, and I have so much to tell you! I currently live with 3 other dogs, and I love all of them. I've also met some dogs on my various outings, and I think all of them have been super cool. I love to chew on toys and am happy to chill and hang out wherever you are, so I'm an ideal work from home buddy. I love pets, and I'm not shy about letting you know when I'm ready for them. No playing hard to get here-I'm a girl who knows what she wants! However, I don't like to yell or talk loudly and would much rather whisper sweet stories in your ear. In the mornings or when something exciting happens, I'll talk (grunt/grumble) up a storm, but overall, I'm a pretty quiet gal. I like to sleep in my pen at night and for naps during the day. A woman needs her beauty sleep. So, see...I'm sort of perfect! Now that I've won you over with all of my charm, let's get real with each other. I was in pretty rough shape when my foster humans found me, and they've done so much to help me. But just like everyone, I'm still a work in progress. I'm heartworm positive but have already completed all of my treatment. So now I just have to wait a few months to get retested and get that negative test result back to be officially heartworm free. Not so bad, right?! I also came to them unable to use my back legs. I do have feeling in them; they just don't like to talk to my brain right now. Maybe that's why I like to chat so much-to make up for my silly legs! The good news is I can get around really well with my front legs. I can scoot on the floor all by myself, or if you're up for some teamwork, I can walk around while you hold my back legs up with a sling. I also have a really cool wheelchair. Using it is a lot of work and can be tiring, but I love using it for short distances or to walk around the yard like an independent woman! I'm going to physical therapy twice a week to help my legs talk to my brain and keep them nice and strong. It's a lot of work, but I'm making impressive progress. And I'll need my new humans to keep up my therapy so I can keep it up! I'm now able to stand on my own and even take a step or two! Let's find out together how far I can go! Finally, I know it's sometimes considered impolite to talk about bathroom stuff. But with a pup like me, it's best to be up front. I know to do my business outside, but because I'm paralyzed in my back end, I have some trouble in that department. Poops are pretty easy most of the time. I just need extra help getting in position and balancing. Going pee is a little more difficult for me. It's hard for me to get everything out, so I'll need my new humans to assist me and express my bladder. But don't worry, my foster humans can show you how! And I like to think of all of this as a unique bonding opportunity! I know some of this might seem a bit overwhelming, but I have no doubt the perfect family is out there for me! Plus, my foster humans are ready to help answer any and all questions, so let's talk more and see if we're a match!
