Story
This is Teddy Boy and with a name like that, you know what you’re in store for. We’re talking serious big hug energy. We all know the feeling of a perfectly timed hug, it’s a level of free therapy we all want and need- a true teddy bear in every sense! With his soft, cozy, warm brown fur and an irresistible charm, he’s the kind of pup that makes everyone feel better just by being around. From his absolute lover boy vibe to the fun-uncle approach he has with kids- he is a swoon for the ladies and a dream wingman for the gentlemen. Watch Teddy Boy’s video and FALL IN LOVE with him: https://youtu.be/hB7Hvb85a00?si=R1_PYPQW6McRmt05 Now, let’s get down to business. While we can't be 100% sure about his breed or age, we suspect Teddy is some type of American Staffordshire Terrier mix, estimated to be around 3.5 years old and 62 lbs- a true hunk-of-love. Put the numbers aside, let’s talk about what really matters—Teddy’s personality and all of the other things that make Teddy a great family dog! His true crown and glory is how amazingly calm, patient, gentle and tolerant of it all when it comes to the littles. Truly, queue the AWWWW of a room full of women who got to watch a five year old squeeze Teddys neck with whole body for Teddy to turn around and lick his face with all the love a bully can have for a boy. If Teddy was put on this earth for one thing it’s to spread the warmth of what we call the “Teddy experience,” which starts with slobbery kisses and ends in tail-wagging bliss. He is a family-approved cuddler with a side of patient saint. When it comes to strangers, the word does not exist in Teddy's vocabulary. He loves every single person he meets. It's honestly something to admire. He greets everyone like he has known them his entire life and showers them all with slobbery kisses and those big grand hugs of his. Only if you let him though! He is mindful if that's not someone's cup of tea but he will test the waters to see at first. He just wants people to know how much he loves him is all. Teddy is the perfect dog to take with you places or if you like having friends over because of how friendly he is. In public, surrounded by crowds - true gentleman happy to be there. At home with friends over - a soft friendly welcome followed by snuggles. In the car, going through the drive thru - a happy boy with the biggest smile sticking his head out the window saying hello. Truly, Teddy can do it all. As far as canine-companions go, he is very dog friendly! Teddy absolutely loves to play and brings that fun uncle energy when he is plating with other dogs. He is bouncing, bobbing, doing these quick feet type movements, inviting play with the most perfect play bows, and having the time of his life. Teddy loves to wrestle and loves when he is with other dogs that love wrestling too. You know that what we're talking about, the kind of rumble and tumble moments where slobber is flying, grumbly noises are being heard, paws are flopping around, and they are both rolling around like a couple of goofy puppies. There's lots of mouthy play and exaggerated movement with tails wagging the whole time and the occasional bark; in Teddy's case a snort LOL. He is actually a little pig not a dog. It might look a little wild but it's all in good fun. Teddy knows how to read the room and knows who he can play wrestle with and who he can't. I have personally seen him with so many different dogs all with different energies, play styles, tolerance, etc. and he does such a great job and figuring out who he can play with or if there is any potential of playing in general. For example, he has spent a lot of time with a older pittie girl who really just likes to lay in the grass and sunbathe, that's all she wants to do and Teddy was so gentle with her and didn't even try to play with her. He accidentally bumped into once and she growled at him and he just acted like, "oh sorry friend, I didn't see you there." He has also been with male dogs that love to play chase and want dogs to chase them and Teddy adjusted to that type of play even though all he wanted to do was wrestle. He knew the other dog didn't want to play that way and respected that. He did try to test to see if the other dog would wrestle with him but he didn't and Teddy respected that. There was no one else in the yard that would play with Teddy so he just went off, sought out affection from the people that were there and ended up finding a little muddy/water hole patch to relax in. Queue the piggie reference LOL. If you don't have other dogs, Teddy fills the “shoes” of at least two dogs and would love to be the one who single-pawed, lights up your life. He does not need the company of another dog to help him feel comfortable and open up, he is confident and SO LOVING all on his own. He also doesn't need the company of another dog fulfill his energy needs. Mental stimulation games, likes puzzles, Kongs, or physical exercise such a playing ball in the backyard, going on a walk around the neighborhood, or even going on a day date to the farmers market, or local brewery to meet up with friends will be both physical and mentally tiring. Once you're home he'll be a tired boy and ready for all the naps and snuggles. With feline friends, he had a bit too much interest in our resident cat, Tom—so, no feline friends for Teddy. Not a deal-breaker in our book. He’s been lucky enough to be fostered in a loving home, where he’s mastered the fine art of house manners and is both house and crate trained. Yes, you heard that right—no messy surprises here! Not only does he have stellar house manners, Teddy is very smart too. He already knows how to sit, walks well on a leash, is a perfect gentleman out in public, has a generally good recall already, and is a fast learner! Teddy attended an event recently and there was a prime picture worthy moment but no where to tie his leash up to so practiced the place command right then and there! When we say, Teddy instantly knew what was expected of him, HE DID! You can see it for yourself in his video. It was so impressive to because there was a lot going on, a lot of stimulation, noises, people walking by, other dogs, you name it and Teddy learned the makings of a good place command in seconds. Teddy also has wonderful manners in the car! He is completely capable of loading up and unloading all on his own. He might need a booty push every now and then LOL if he's had a long day and is tired. You'll know if he needs help because he'll stand there and look back at you with this look of, "um excuse me, can I get a little assistance please?" During car rides you have the option of letting him ride shotgun or in the back without tethering him. He'll look out the window regardless of where he is sitting. He doesn't bark, he just watches all the passerby's and patients waits for the destination. If an affectionate boy who is real easy on the bully-loving eyes is what you are looking for then you have found him! The soft fur, the warm kisses, his adoring approach to kids, grade-a snuggles, and a true-blue loyal companion, Teddy is your boy! He’s ready to be yours! Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress! Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet. The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS: Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription Coupons for a fun visit to Petco 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! Story
Maribella is ready to be your family dog. She could be the perfect running partner, dog park going, play date loving best friend you never knew you needed. She can also just be your quiet napping companion while you work. Or your cuddle buddy/little spoon! She loves to check in with her people, making sure she is behaving and coming in for a boop here and there. She is trainable simply because of her people pleasing nature. She loves to boop people and other doggies with her cute nose rather than give kisses. It’s so funny! We love everything about this girl from her blue grey coat to her little cow lick down the top of her neck! She’s super soft and she has a little bit of a ridge down her back! Watch Maribella here: https://youtu.be/f9fzCgCaJDU?si=yblJtVDDTQwy9rep Maribella is great in the house and not destructive. She is quiet, not a lot of barking or whining, acts like she has lived in a home environment previously and has very good manners. She does not have any accidents in her kennel or free roaming from what we’ve seen. While her foster works on the computer she is a good girl and naps on the floor. She would make a perfect work from home companion! When you’re sitting there working on your computer every once in a while, she will want to show love, so she will jump up to give you a hug or she will try to slowly crawl into your lap. She is extremely loving and affectionate. She knows how to sit on command and loves rolling onto her back for belly rubs. This girl loves meeting new doggy friends. She gets really excited at first, so give her a chance to show you what a good girl she is. She has more of a rowdy play style, so we could see her fitting in a home with higher energy doggy siblings, or dogs that don’t mind showing her the right ways to behave. She became instant best friends with the dogs she met here at the rescue. Maribella loves praise more than anything in the world, so she will often look to her people to get approval throughout play time, which is great! She will be very tuned in with her person, whoever that may be. Could it be you? Maribella is one of those girls that is going to be deeply loyal, caring, and attentive to her family. She does all of this while still being respectful of new people without being overly eager. Maribella is very gentle with kids! She hung out with her fosters son, age 7 and seemed very comfortable from the beginning. With no hesitation at all, she wanted to give him kisses. She’s extremely affectionate, she’ll slip in gentle kisses here and there. Maribella really wants to hug you and she’ll put her head on your shoulder for a really long hug if you will have her. She will look up at you with her puppy dog eyes looking into yours, and wants to give and get love. She’s pretty confident, she doesn’t seem scared of anything, including when her fosters young son was throwing a balloon around in the air and hitting her with it. Her tail continued to wag. We could see her being a family dog with kids. We are happy to test this girl with whatever you may need. Just let us know! Ready to apply? Story
Meet Polly! Polly-Anna, Polly Pocket, Polly Pittie, Polly-wog, the cheeky nicknames are endless! And the names are all as cute and sweet as she is. If you are looking for quiet companionship and playful charm, this lovable lady is ready, waiting, and available. Fall in love with Polly here: Estimated to be around 8 or 9 years old and weighing about 50 pounds, Polly is the perfect example of mellow maturity. While we think she might be a pittie mix—maybe with a touch of Lab—her true breed and exact age is anyone’s guess, but what we do know is she’s 100% lovable, huggable, good girl. Don’t let her age fool you, though—Polly still gets the zoomies now and then and will happily share a playful moment before curling up next to you for cuddles. Polly is fortunate to be waiting for her adoption day in the home of a loving foster. This is wonderful for so many reasons. This gives us a front-row seat to the day to day girl Polly is while she gets to learn and enjoy the rhythm of home life. So far we know she loves cuddles on the couch, is very adoring of her person, enjoys standing in a baby pools to cool her paws, and will gently carry around a toy in her mouth. Her foster mom has shared, she’s a dream in her crate, settling in quietly without barking or whining. On top of everything else, she loves a car ride with the wind in her face! Polly would thrive in a calm, quiet home with a family who understands her laid-back nature. She’s happy to take short walks or enjoy a little time outdoors, but she doesn’t need a yard to be happy. Even though Polly is good on leash and redirects easily when needed, she would love suburb or country life over anything else. As we all age, the quiet life becomes the dream life! Polly gets along well with other dogs, but as a mature lady, she appreciates calm companions who respect her relaxed vibe. When introduced to new dogs she calmly shared space with small interactions here and there. Overall, its easy to see the Polly is for the people and will be more than happy as a solo-dog. A cat-free home would also be ideal, but Polly has done wonderful with everything else, enjoying kids and car-rides Polly is an easy, lovable dog who asks for little but gives so much in return. Story
The name Titan alone tells you a lot about this boy- strong and handsome with a heart to match. It is always the best when a boy with his physical presence comes with a gentle side and that he does! Currently fostered in a home with two kids, he has a gentle and respectful approach to family life, he loves car rides- with a special love for riding in the back of the truck, and a howl of excitement rarely found in the bully breeds. Take a look at his handsomeness in action then come back to read more-https://youtu.be/-mdv1u53r0Y Titan is a rescue so we cannot know his age or breed with a 100% certainty but we believe he is American Staffie Mix and is estimated to be 4 years old, which likely plays an important part in his slow and steady approach to life. Titan weighs in at 81 lbs and is fully grown so you are absolutely looking at an xl unit of snuggly love with this boy. Don’t let that size fool you, or intimidate you, although we are sure he has the power, he doesn’t misuse it to pull you around town when on a leash walk. He does enjoy his walkies so you will see that enthusiasm when you initially head out the door but he settles into a nice rhythm. In addition to a family, Titans foster home includes two other dogs, Australian shepherds age 8 and 12 who he enjoys but do not have an interest in playing with him much. It doesn’t bother him, he will simply run around on his own before cozying up nearby. The added bonus to being fostered is that he is fully house and crate trained! Of course he may need a tour of the potty places when he gets home but you show the way and he will take it from there. Titan was also introduced to several new dogs to get a feel for his preferred type of playmate/company. It was easy to see that Titan enjoys dogs with a calm, easy-going approach. He enjoys getting to know a dog a bit before bouncing around together. An ideal pairing for Titan would be a female with medium-energy but honestly, we know he would be just as happy soaking up the spotlight as a solo dog.He likes toys and has been interested more and more in playing tug of war and shows the makings of a dog who will play fetch. With your help he would be happy to play in the yard and then head inside to relax by your side. An ideal home for Titan would include a yard to run, sniff, and really practice his fetch skills. His size alone tells us he isn’t build for apartment life but when you add in his cute howls it seals the deal. No noise complaints here. Titan’s ready for a family that knows, the bigger the dog the sweeter the love. He is loyalty, fun, and ready for love! If you feel like Titan is the one for you, apply here: Questions? Story
Y'all, I love Valley Girl SO MUCH! There are seriously so many great things I can say about her that it won't all fit here in this text box and I wish it did because she is that awesome. For starters, Valley was born to be a family dog! She has been around so many different age groups of kids and is amazing around them all. Even babies as young as 1 year old. I know this because she has personally be in my home with my 1 year old son. When I say she was better around him than my own personal dogs, I mean it. Valley was so gentle around him, wasn't bothered by all the crying, loud noises, all the chaos that comes with having a baby, and wasn't even bothered by his grabbing hands. Watch her video and see her in my home with my son and how perfect she is: https://youtu.be/gRsnZOJWJfI?si=TslU0H6mOoEcssIi Valley Girl is a pittie mix approximately 5 years old and currently weighs 67 lbs of pure love. She is a rescue dog and with any rescue, it's always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age. I can promise you that you will never know a dog that will love you and impact your life the way that Valley Girl will. She is the soul dog you've been looking for. One thing about Valley that I love the most is how happy she is all the time. Seriously, no matter what this girl is always so happy. I also love just how easy she is and how comfortable she was the second she walked into my home. Valley didn't hesitate one bit making her self feel right at home. She honestly acted like she had been in my house before even though that was the first time. I also want to mention, once we got home it was very chaotic and I was running around like a mad women. I had a screaming baby that was hungry, my personal dogs barking like crazy, had things to unload out of my car, and had to rush to get ready for a dinner reservation. So Valley was quite literally thrown into the mix of my chaotic home and she was just along for the ride. Valley was left shortly after coming to my house (where she has never been before) and was kenneled for at least 4 hours in a new environment, in the same room with another dog kenneled in close proximity, and when we got back home, her kennel was clean and it didn't even look like she tried to get out to her kennel either. Which would have been very easy for her to do because it was not the most secure kennel. She did bark out of excitement one we got home but that was it. She immediately got over her initial excitement and was snuggling on the couch with me. I have fostered a lot of dogs in the past and I have never had a dog be so easy to transition into my daily routine than Valley. Which just goes to show how confident and happy she is wherever she goes, regardless of what is going on. I have no doubt that she will act the exact same way once you bring her home as well. Valley immediately took to my husband and absolutely adored him! She loved rubbing all up over him, leaning in for affection and sneaking in those famous kisses of hers. She also did great meeting my mom who she has never met before. Valley didn't make a peep when my mom walked through the door and even with my personal dogs going crazy and barking like buffoons, Valley still didn't bark. She was so inviting and loving towards my mom and I've seen her act this way with other strangers as well when she is out in public. Valley loves every single person that she meets. She has been to places likes Home Depot, ice cream shops, dog-friendly restaurants, pet stores, through the drive-thru, and every time - she loves everyone she meets. Valley is a social butterfly that you can take anywhere, have friends and family over at your house, and she will be as loving as she always is. She rides great in the car and I like to call her "passenger princess" because she loves sitting in the passenger seat, looking out the window, watching everything pass us by. She also does great on longer car rides as well. I have had her in the car with me for over an hour and she almost fell asleep sitting up. Valley can be your next road trip bestie! The absolute best thing about Valley that I am obsessed with, is how snuggly she is and how easy they are to come by. She doesn't need to be exercised before wanting to cuddle up or need some sort of mental stimulation to wear her out. Valley has no problem lounging around all day if you're not feeling well or just want a lazy day. She is all for it! Valley turns into the best weighted blanket where she will wedge herself in between you and the pillows of the couch, sprawling out and nuzzling her nose into the covers or resting her head on your chest while you watch a movie. You know she's real cozy when she starts to snore LOL. She doesn't snore loud though, it's just cute little piggy grunts really. Valley will sleep throughout the night in bed with with and she hardly ever moves either. Which is also a bonus because the last thing you want is to be constantly woken up by a dog. She will cuddle in the beginning, give you all the kisses, and will let you wrap your arms around her for the ultimate snuggles and will lay her head on your pillow. There is no shortage of cuddles with her, which I love. Even in the mornings, after a good nights rest, she is not bouncing off the walls with energy. Valley is calm in the mornings and even takes her time waking pup. After she did her morning business and ate her breakfast she was already posted up in my bed while I was getting ready and looking out the windows. If you have kids, you know how crazy mornings can be and she did not add to that chaos one bit. Valley is more than just snuggles and cuteness. She’s smart too! Valley already has mastered commands like sit, stay, out, has a great recall and has learned to walk with a gentle leader. A gentle leader is just another type of leash and some dogs just walk better with them. Valley girl is one of them! Especially when she sees a squirrel LOL. She loves squirrels and likes to chase them, they are just so exciting for her but when she is using her gentle lead leash, she is a lot easier to redirect. She did great walking with me and my little family and wasn't even bothered by my son's stroller either. She has had zero accidents at my house and can hold it all through out the night with no accidents. She understands that potty time is for outside only. She will immediately do her business the second she is outside. Valley also didn't ever get into anything that she wasn't suppose to either. Which was super comforting to know that I could could trust her to not destroy anything because it's already hard to keep up with a 1 year old that gets into everything, let alone having to worry about a mischievous dog at the same time. Valley is very food motivated and will do anything for a treat. Even with how food motivated she is, Valley has perfect table manners and isn't trying to steal your food off the table while you're eating. She didn't even try to steal my sons food when my mom was feeding him some muffins and it was definitely within reach. She sat there waiting patiently and even got a little bite because she was being so good. One thing that really impressed me was how she acted after she had people food. Some dogs will get all excited once that happens and not leave you alone hopping to get more but not Valley. She laid back down, walked off did her own thing and didn't become obsessive at all over it. Valley is dog friendly and does great passing by other dogs when you're out on a walk or when she sees other dogs in public. She doesn't bark at other dogs when she sees them either. In a home, Valley does best with confident males that like to play, enjoy those rumble and tumble wrestling matches, and also appreciate those calm relaxing moments too. Which is why she loved her best friend George. He would play wrestle with her and would let her go off and do her own thing as well. If you have another dog, she would be best paired with a male that has a similar temperament as him. Valley also is not the type of lady that needs another dog in the home to help her feel comfortable and open up or fill her energy needs. She is a confident and happy girl all on her own and she has a perfectly balanced energy that a walk around the neighborhood or game of fetch in the backyard is all she needs. Valley's love is the equivalent of two dogs combined so you won't ever have to worry about not feeling loved from this girl. She would also be best in a home with out kitty friends as well. Valley Girl is a true gem, and she deserves a forever family who will shower her with all the love and attention she craves. She's a total sweetheart. If you’re looking for a playful, resilient, and endlessly sweet companion to brighten your days, Valley is just waiting to fill your heart with joy! We are willing to test Valley Girl with anything you need us to in order to ensure it’s the perfect match for you! We can make anything happen! Just let us know. Story
Hey there! You must be wanting to know about Brooks. Well let me tell you- prepare to be amazed. This dude is the most easy going, friendly, and respectful guy I’ve come across in a long time. His foster is awesome, and she typically fosters smaller dogs. She was a little hesitant of taking on a bigger dog like Brooks, simply because he was a little larger than she was used to having at home! Well long story short, now Brooks is chillin on her couch, waiting for his forever family. She loves him, and tells us he is an absolute gem to have at her house. Brooks really has an endless stream of compliments coming his way at all times! Catch a glimpse of his amazing personality in his video, and come back to read more about him. Click here! https://youtu.be/_QX6l0e2LLA?si=p0HrMRIfTBo2ov2Z One thing to note about Brooks is that he is one of our assessment dogs at TLP. Now you’re probably wondering… what does that mean? Well, this means that Brooks is one of the special dogs we choose to meet other dogs coming to the rescue for the very first time. He is one of the chosen ones because he really knows how to read other dogs well. Seriously, if they want to play, it’s play time, and if they want their space, brooks is following their lead! It’s truly an incredible sight to see. You will often find Brooks wiggling about in these assessments, his body will let you know how happy he is. He is just the wiggliest boy! Brooks currently lives with smaller, older, grumpier dogs in his foster home. He does so well respecting their space. Speaking of Brooks being small dog friendly, he is often put in small dog play groups here at the rescue because he loves them so much. Brooks may not know that he isn’t a small dog, is someone going to tell him? He knows how to “come” and has amazing recall. Our director has deemed him a “playgroup rockstar”! You know what else Brooks is a rockstar at? Getting his veterinary visits done. He will literally sit there and let you poke him and do his bloodwork with no issues. It’s a crazy thing to see! Brooks is also extremely cat friendly. Like, so cat friendly he has been left alone around our house cat Biggie for hours at a time. That’s how much we trust him with our feline friend. He is just such a dream, you can tell he is really so thankful to be rescued. All he wants to do is show his love and affection towards everyone. He aims to please, but he is not overbearing, and he is always sure to give affection appropriately. What a gentleman! Brooks is nothing short of fantastic in the car, some may say he is a passenger prince. When he loads up, you can tell he takes his time, not jumping up and being crazy on the leather seats. Brooks is so aware of everything, he really just blows us away constantly. He is low to medium energy and is a great dog to take in public. He was around over 200 people at our open house at the rescue. He was out and about, greeting everyone, and wondering if his future family is out there looking for him.
