Story
Meet Sammy — 75 lbs of charm, heart, and goofy fun! At 2 years old, this lovable guy is dog-friendly, food-motivated (watermelon and apples are his jam), and has the perfect mix of playful zoomies and professional lounging skills. He’s been known to stash a snack or two in his jowls, just in case you forget dessert. Sammy is snuggly, patient, and full of personality—always ready to make you laugh or melt with his soulful eyes. He’s still brushing up on leash manners but learns quickly (especially if snacks are involved). He’d thrive in a home with kids 12+, no small dogs (he’s a big, sturdy guy), and a yard to romp and parade his toys in. Bonus points if you appreciate a dog who grabs his leash and politely announces, “Let’s go already!” Apply to adopt today: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FHVA/Dog

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. My name is Wilbur, and I'm the cutest, most loving dog you'll ever meet. I had a bit of a rough start, but thanks to some wonderful people, I'm now a happy and healthy boy. I was even bottle-fed as a tiny pup, which made me a big mama's boy. I love my foster mom, and I’m looking for another special lady to love me forever. I get along great with everyone in my busy foster home, including my foster dad, other dogs, and my favorite little human—a three-year-old girl who calls me "baby" and shares all her snacks. In return, I give her lots of happy licks and gentle nibbles on her toes, which always make her giggle! I'm a little shy in big crowds but warm up quickly. I'm also a work in progress with my house and crate training, but I'm learning fast and will even let you know when it’s time to go outside. Add me to your family, and I promise to be the best boy and an amazing addition to your home! NOTE: Dog Breed Information. Story
Hi!!! My name is Leah. But, my foster mom calls me Yoda because I have wonderfully independent ears! I am crate trained, house broken and walk well on the leash. I enjoy car rides and am a perfect co-pilot. I only chew on toys for aggressive chewers. I don't bother anything that isn't a toy. I love the outdoors and playing with my foster canine brother. My foster canine sister is older, and while I stay in touch with her, I give her space to snooze or whatever. I have impeccable house manners, and the best place to be is by your side. I am a little shy but love attention, and take direction well. I am very food motivated, but treats should be taken gently! I hope to meet you soon! Questions About this Animal? Story
Meet Finnick! Finnick has been living in the shelter system since he was only 8 weeks old, but is finally in a wonderful foster home! He is a happy, friendly, intelligent boy who deserves a chance! Finnick can be shy around new people and may take some time to warm up. Finnick has really grown to like visitors in his foster home, and continues to make progress meeting new people. Treats go a long way towards making this boy your new best friend. He needs a home that will give him the time and patience to help him settle. Once settled, Finnick has shown to be pretty low energy and happy to lounge around with his people, soaking up all the attention. Finnick is crate trained, but may whine a bit as he learns a new routine. Finnick is SO smart! He knows lots of commands and tricks. The training possibilities are endless. Known cues: Get up, get down, sit, spin, roll over, lay down, paw, crate, place, wait/stay, drop it, and leave it. Good with Kids? Would be best with children over 10 as he can move quickly when excited but may possibly knock a younger child down by mistake. Good with Dogs? Finnick likes to walk with other dogs but isn’t the most confident with making dog friends so any introductions should be done slowly. Finnick can be a resource guarder, so we recommend for him to be the only dog in the home. Good with Cats? We do not currently know how Finnick is with cats. If that is needed, let us know and we'll work on getting that information! ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 55 lbs Want to hear some fun facts about Finnick? 1. He is a great listener. He will leave something alone if you tell him "no" or "leave it" 2. He loves belly rubs. 3. He loves crawling on his belly in the grass and rolling around in it. You should look at the videos on the website. 4. He walks great on a leash. 5. He enjoys the outdoors 6. He is treat motivated. 7. He knows many commands. 8. He is playful and goofy! 9. He loves playing in the water. 10. He loves car rides and will sit or lay there quietly. ___________________________________ If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our dog adoption questionnaire and e-mail any questions to: trailshomefarm@homewardtrails.org PLEASE VISIT THIS WEBSITE TO FIND THE ADOPTION QUESTIONNAIRE: http://www.homewardtrails.org/adopt-a-pet/adoption-forms/ LOCATION: Foster Home in the NOVA area. Story
Fran is a sweet and bubbly Boxer mix who lives for treat time! If you love hanging out in the kitchen, she’ll be right by your side, ever hopeful that any bag you grab holds snacks. Her excitement is contagious — though she’s still learning to sit patiently for treats! This gentle girl is slowly coming out of her shell and learning to enjoy cozy time with her dog friends. She’s incredibly submissive and hasn’t met a pup she doesn’t like. When feeling overwhelmed, Fran simply retreats to her safe spot — often her bed or the kitchen. Walks can be a bit scary at first, but once she gets going, she really shines. She’s working on potty training and improving every day. Fran would thrive in a calm home with older kids and, ideally, another dog to help guide her. She came to us unsure of the world, but with love and patience, she’s blossoming into the sweetest companion. Fran is proof that a little kindness goes a long way. Story
I adopted her from the Fredericksburg SPCA about two years ago. She is three years old. She is very lovable and protective over her people, She would be best in a home without any other animals. She will adjust with other animals it just takes a bit of work, I hate to have to give her away I love her so much she is an amazing dog, but due to unfortunate circumstances the place I had for her to go fell through, and I’m in the process of enlisting in Air Force and can be called to ship out any day.
