Prince is waiting patiently for his new best friend. Could it be you? He is very loyal and affectionate. He will always greet you with a wagging tail and a smile. A friendly and playful pup who is looking for his forever home. He was born on 10/20/2024 and is a mixed breed of unknown origin. He is great with other dogs and loves children. He is kennel-trained and is working hard on his house training skills. He is up to date on his vaccines and neutered. His previous owners had to give him up because they were moving and could not take him with them. He is a super fun-loving little guy who weighs 41 lbs and is full-grown. He enjoys running, fetching, and cuddling. He is very smart and eager to please. He would make a wonderful addition to any family. Story
Meet Roxie, a 6 year old American Staffordshire Terrier/Hound Mix. She weighs about 55 lbs. She is blind and diabetic. Roxie was relinquished to the shelter due to her medical needs. She is a sweet dog and has been an absolute champ about taken her medications and daily injections. SO, please don’t let this frighten or deter you from wanting to meet her. PWD will help continue to assist her adoptive family with her medical needs if needed. Roxie was fostered by an incredible person and she has a lot of great things to say about this girl: Roxie is a sweetheart searching for her forever home! She is a happy dog, and is almost always seen wagging her tail. Roxie is always happiest when she is with you, and is up for any activity -- whether she is your sidekick while doing yard work, your sous chef while cooking, or your snuggle buddy while watching tv. She is very loving, and isn't shy about asking for belly rubs. Her favorite pastime is cuddling on the couch (or attempting to sit in your lap!). Roxie is intelligent and easily trained to the rules of your home (e.g, learning what furniture she's allowed to sit on, wiping paws before coming inside when it's muddy out, etc.). She enjoys going for walks, and does very well on a leash. She is also great riding in the car. Roxie is playful, and gets bursts of energy that result in her scooting around the room or yard. She enjoys chewing on a bone, but beware -- she destroys soft toys within a matter of minutes! While Roxie is blind, you would never know it! She quickly learns and navigates her surroundings, and is very alert, relying heavily on her hearing and sense of smell. Roxie also has diabetes and requires 2x daily insulin shots as well as regular blood glucose testing; however, these activities couldn't be easier! She lies on her back during blood testing so you can easily access her paws for the test, and her insulin shot is simple to administer while she's eating her meals. Roxie is a rockstar when it comes to maintaining her health, and her tail continues to wag the whole time! Roxie loves people, and has yet to meet a stranger! She enjoys being the center of attention among her human family, and but she can be possessive with toys and food around other dogs -- for these reasons, she is looking for a home where she can be the only pet. However, Roxie is all the dog you'll ever need, and the best friend anyone could ask for! We feel should would do best as an only dog. Please consider Roxie, she would be a great companion and friend.

Story
Meet Mia! Mia is a 7-8 years old American Staffordshire mix, and she weighs about 60lbs. She prefers to be indoors with her people, but she also loves to go for walks. She absolutely loves water! Mia enjoys playing with larger dogs, she is great with kids (lived with an infant!), and she is potty trained. Mia is currently located in Texas but transport to Maryland can be arranged with an approved adopter. Mia is new to Puppy Paws Rescue; we will continue to update her profile as we learn more about her. If you are interested in adopting Mia, please fill out an application on our website: www.puppypawsrescue.org PLEASE NOTE: We review veterinary care for applicants. This includes regular well visits, up-to-date and consistent core vaccinations, spay/neuter, heartworm and tick-borne disease testing, and regular monthly heartworm prevention. You MUST contact your vet to give them permission to speak to us for the vet check BEFORE we call them. We will not be able to call veterinarians multiple times and we would hate for an application to be turned down because no authorization is on file with the vet. If your application meets our adoption criteria, we will contact you within 1 week. You will then be asked to schedule an interview and virtual home visit. Please check your SPAM folder for emails from PuppyPawsRescue.Due to the volume of applications, applications that do not move forward to an interview, may not hear back from us within that time frame. Our team is an all-volunteer team, managing families, our paying jobs, households, foster dogs, application processing, interviews and home visits, follow-up, transports, and much more. We ask that you be courteous and patient with us.

ADOPTION FEE: WAIVED!! Vinny is a playful boy who can't wait to have a home of his own! At our shelter, he loves toys, splashing around in the water, and car rides. Did you say "walks?" Vinny loves walks and exploring new places and will be a great adventure or hiking buddy with a little leash training. Vinny also likes to play with other dogs and would do best with another dog in the home, but he can play a little ruff so he needs a dog who also likes to wrestle and tumble. When he isn't playing with his friends, toys or on walks, Vinny relaxes in the staff break room and likes the calm environment for his naps. He says it makes it easier to get a lot of attention and to melt onto the floor when he gets all the pets. Behind his sweet puppy dog eyes is a tough background. Good people found Vinny as a stray in remote West Virginia. he is smart, always smiling and figures out food puzzles faster than we can find new puzzles for him to defeat! Vinny has become quite stressed in the kennel environment of the shelter and has some pent up energy. However, when the staff takes Vinny on outings or home for the weekend, he is a perfect gentleman. Vinny just needs someone to give him a chance at being the best friend that he is. Is that you? Follow Vinny on his own Instagram page: @vinnythebeefcake DOGS: Most CATS: NO KIDS: 16+ years old due to his ruff and tumble play style ADOPTION INCLUDES: Spay/Neuter First 3 distemper series vaccines & de-wormings Microchip - lifetime with no registration fees Current on heartworm preventative Current on flea/tick preventative EXCLUSIVE HOMEWARD TRAILS ADOPTER BENEFITS: Free first exam with: Caring Hands Animal Hospital, Palisades Veterinary Clinic, Jermantown Animal Hospital and Clarendon Animal Care and all VCA Animal Hospitals (VCA offers $250 coverage - details provided) Free online workshop with a professional dog trainer at Fur-Get Me Not within the first 30 days of adopting (in DC/Arlington/Alexandria only) BE A FOSTER: Save a life: http://www.homewardtrails.org/foster-a-pet/dog-and-cat-foster-program.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our dog adoption questionnaire and e-mail any questions to: sueb@homewardtrails.org PLEASE VISIT THIS WEBSITE TO FIND THE ADOPTION QUESTIONNAIRE: http://www.homewardtrails.org/adopt-a-pet/adoption-forms/ HOW TO MEET THIS ANIMAL: Fill out the application and we will follow up with you! We will connect you to his foster! LOCATION: Cash is in a foster home! ADOPTION COORDINATOR: Sue B (sueb@homewardtrails.org) ADOPTION FEE: The adoption fee for this dog $495 and includes spay/neuter and microchip. Ask me about our many adoption benefits that include free exams, pet insurance, training and other discounts! ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 75 lbs ESTIMATED AGE: 2 years KNOWN WITH DOGS: Cash is good with other dogs and LOVES to mix it up. He grew up with a feisty 25 lb Cattle Dog mix and loved to play tug-o-war. He would love another playful rough-houser to keep him active! KNOWN WITH CATS: Cash has lived with up to 5 cats, sharing his bed and toys and cuddling with them. He may take a bit to get used to new cats but has a history of living very well with cats. KNOWN WITH KIDS: Cash does well with humans of all ages. He's a bigger happy boy so may do best with kids who can be well supervised and not get knocked over. KNOWN COMMANDS: Cash knows basic commands and redirects well when asked! KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: He is housebroken but accidents in the beginning will happen and he's starting to get used to crating. KNOWN LIKES: Play, people, other dogs, toys, cuddles and more play. KNOWN DISLIKES: ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Does not love being left alone but we think this will get better as he's still adjusting to losing the only person he's known since he was 4 weeks old. But ideally, someone who is home more than less will be ideal. ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Cash is AMAZING. He was purchased when he was 4 weeks of age (way too early) but grew up in a loving home with dogs and cats. Sadly, his owner had to move and could not find aplace to rent with a dog so he had to give Cash up. He sleeps well at night and is pretty good about staying on his big bed. He has been able to be off- leash in a fenced area with us and has zero desire to roam away from people. He will chase cats outside-although he is redirectable. He likes to play tug with a rope toy- it's his favorite. He's a strong boy so another strong dog would be an ideal playmate for this boy. He loves a good bone. He also bonds fast with people so he needs someone to love him and get him exercise and build his confidence. . HT ADOPTION INCLUSIONS: Spay/Neuter First 3 distemper series vaccines & de-wormings Microchip - lifetime with no registration fees Current on heartworm preventative Current on flea/tick preventative EXCLUSIVE ADOPTER BENEFITS: Free first exam with: Caring Hands Animal Hospital, Palisades Veterinary Clinic, Jermantown Animal Hospital and Clarendon Animal Care and all VCA Animal Hospitals (VCA offers $250 coverage - details provided) Free online workshop with a professional dog trainer at Fur-Get Me Not within the first 30 days of adopting (in DC/Arlington /Alexandria only) A portion of EVERY ADOPTION fee supports spay/neuter for animals in under-resourced communities.
