Story
Meet Yukon – The Sweetest Couch Potato with a Heart of Gold! Yukon is a nearly 5-year-old Staffy mix with a story of incredible resilience. Rescued from the euthanasia list at a high-stress shelter in California at just 6 months old, Yukon came to us terrified and broken. Over the years, this remarkable boy has transformed into the sweetest, most loving companion you could ever hope for. Yukon is a giant lap dog and adores nothing more than curling up on the couch beside his favorite human. He’s gentle, affectionate, and has a heart of gold. While he enjoys playing with other dogs, Yukon would do best in a home without children. Yukon is ready for a new chapter – one filled with love, security, and a forever family who will cherish him as much as he’ll cherish them. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will be by your side through thick and thin, Yukon is your boy! Could you be the one to give Yukon the loving home he’s been waiting for? Yukon is microchipped, dewormed, vaccinated, and neutered. His adoption fee is $400.

Story
"Tiggers are bouncy, Tiggers are fun - Tigger is wonderful and truly one of a kind!" Tigger is believed to be an American Staffordshire Terrier Mix born approximately December 2021. When he accepts you - you know you’re special. He takes time to warm up and become your best friend. He is very obedient and wants nothing more than to please his person. Favorite thing: tummy rubs! Tigger gets along well with most female dogs his size or larger. Male dogs he is more selective of-also we do not recommend small dogs or cats in the home. Tigger will do best in an active home -he’s adventurous and loves the outdoor life, running -biking-ATV-swimming. Country life is best for Tigger to thrive in. We do highly recommend a securely fenced yard and preferably one with adults. If you can give Tigger is forever, please apply at www.mikeyschance.com

Story
Born November 19, 2020, Salem is a female American Staffordshire Terrier/Mastiff mix seeking a forever home. She is good with other dogs and very well socialized with people. Salem's best fit home would be one with breed experience and committed to training her so that she receives a canine good citizen certification. A home with another canine companion (s) would be ideal as this breed requires continued socialization with other dogs. We do require a home with adult or adults and children over 5. Home ownership and fully fenced yard is required as well. Applications can be accessed at www.mikeyschance.com

Story
Meet Stevie Nicks! She is a female Border Collie/American Staffordshire Terrier mix born approx. May 2017. Here is a little bit about her: she came into our program injured and wandering in a field. It appeared she had been attacked by another animal. Since that time she’s come a long way baby! She knows basic commands such as sit and shake, and is highly intelligent. She would do well with an owner who will continue with her training so she can be the best dog she can be. She does well with male dogs her size or larger - she’s female dog selective. Cats are unknown. Stevie Nicks loves to play in the water and squeaky balls. Her forever home will require a secure 6 foot fence with adults or adults and children over 5. Stevie is ready for a person or family of her own - let's get this girl into the home she's always deserved! Applications to foster or adopt:

Story
Meet Biggie, a two year old Staffie/German Shepherd weighing in at 55 pounds.Biggie is an enthusiastic boy who is ready for his next adventure. He came in with two other dogs, Cam and Nick Fury, and seemed to get along well with them. Biggie is actually Nick Fury`s brother and we have their DNA results, they are quite the mix but the two main breeds in them are the ones listed. Biggie still has a lot of puppy energy and is working on his manners such as `off` and his leash work (the leash isn`t a toy). Despite this Biggie is eager to learn and takes his treats gentle. He knows the commands `Sit`, `lay down` and `shake`, smart boy! It can take a few minutes out of the kennel for him to get his wiggles out but once he does he is happy to follow your lead. He was previously in a home with cats and kids and the owner said he did well with both. We think Biggie would make a fantastic dog for someone who wants an active companion, maybe your future hiking or jogging partner? If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been processed. Adopters are welcome to visit the adoption center Monday-Saturday.A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal`s picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Adopt Don`t Shop.

Story
Meet JoJo, a three and a half year old American Staffie mix weighing around 50 pounds.Jojo originally came to us back in 2023 with her puppies. We though we found her home in 2024 but they then rehomed her. She was then brought in with another dog and when her new owner came to redeem the other dog they told us they wouldn`t be redeeming her. Now we are on the search to find this sweet girl her true forever home. This friendly girl is treat motivated and knows the commands `sit` and `shake`. She enjoys going for walks in the park and is a joy to be around. She has met another dog while with us and the meet and greet went well, however, we always recommend meet and greets if you have other dogs in the home. We know her forever home is out there we just have to help her find it.Did you know YHS lets local community members FOSTER TO ADOPT?That`s where you and the pet make sure you`re a good fit for one another by having a fun sleepover prior to finalizing your adoption.
