Story
Meet Biggie, a two year old Staffie/German Shepherd weighing in at 55 pounds.Biggie is an enthusiastic boy who is ready for his next adventure. He came in with two other dogs, Cam and Nick Fury, and seemed to get along well with them. Biggie is actually Nick Fury`s brother and we have their DNA results, they are quite the mix but the two main breeds in them are the ones listed. Biggie still has a lot of puppy energy and is working on his manners such as `off` and his leash work (the leash isn`t a toy). Despite this Biggie is eager to learn and takes his treats gentle. He knows the commands `Sit`, `lay down` and `shake`, smart boy! It can take a few minutes out of the kennel for him to get his wiggles out but once he does he is happy to follow your lead. He was previously in a home with cats and kids and the owner said he did well with both. We think Biggie would make a fantastic dog for someone who wants an active companion, maybe your future hiking or jogging partner? If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been processed. Adopters are welcome to visit the adoption center Monday-Saturday.A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal`s picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Adopt Don`t Shop.

Story
Meet Yukon – The Sweetest Couch Potato with a Heart of Gold! Yukon is a nearly 5-year-old Staffy mix with a story of incredible resilience. Rescued from the euthanasia list at a high-stress shelter in California at just 6 months old, Yukon came to us terrified and broken. Over the years, this remarkable boy has transformed into the sweetest, most loving companion you could ever hope for. Yukon is a giant lap dog and adores nothing more than curling up on the couch beside his favorite human. He’s gentle, affectionate, and has a heart of gold. While he enjoys playing with other dogs, Yukon would do best in a home without children. Yukon is ready for a new chapter – one filled with love, security, and a forever family who will cherish him as much as he’ll cherish them. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will be by your side through thick and thin, Yukon is your boy! Could you be the one to give Yukon the loving home he’s been waiting for? Yukon is microchipped, dewormed, vaccinated, and neutered. His adoption fee is $400.

Story
Sweet Salem hopes to celebrate her 3rd birthday in November in her forever home with people that love her! Salem is well socialized with people, likes kids, and gets along well with dogs of all sizes. While there are no cats in her foster home, she is curious about cats that visit her back yard and will chase them – her interest appears playful, not aggressive, we do have a video of her meeting an indoor cat and it went well. You can see the video by copying and pasting this link into your browser. https://www.facebook.com/MikeysChanceCanineRescue/videos/6634345253260856 She’s on the smaller side – weighing in under 50 pounds and she maintains her weight by eating a diet that works for her and her sensitive tummy – She eats Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Duck and Potato. She knows sit and shake and “help you” (which means stop what you’re doing and let foster mom see what’s going on) and understands leave it. She still has a lot of puppy energy and likes to get her zoomies out. She plays fetch like a pro and likes to tease you with her toys before she gives it back. She also enjoys walks anywhere, but along the river where she can see the ducks and squirrels are a favorite – she would make a good hiking buddy and probably running buddy as she does quite well on a leash. She’s also a great passenger in the car and enjoys rides. She is sweet, affectionate, and cuddly and wants nothing more than an active forever home – one with another dog of similar size and matching energy would be preferred. A secure 6 ft fenced yard is required and if there are children in the home over the age of five would be best.
