Story
Are you looking to have your dog skills and experience challenged? Do you have the patience of a saint? Then Mighty is ready to test you. Seriously, he’s an 8.6 magnitude earthquake in a city without building codes. He is a rainstorm on a herd of Gremlins, after midnight… with a plate of food. For example: 1. Speaking of rainstorms – he hates them. As well as fireworks. Just about any loud, new, or odd noise scares him. He is even afraid of his farts. 2. He has the leash manners like some of those shoppers on Black Friday. You know, where the store is giving away an item to the first 200 guests. He just gets so excited sometimes he feels the need to jump up and grab the leash and walk himself. 3. Mighty has an allergy or several. No chicken for sure and probably no other poultry. Grains make him itchy, and sometimes he gets pink. 4. He’s one of those “blocky headed” dogs… pit balls, pot bois, pibbles, poblanos, whatever. 5. He’s nervous with new people, and he warms up to women quicker than men. Do you know that site with all the dogs who love the UPS guy? Mighty will not likely be making an appearance on that site. Here are some things we also know about Mighty. He completely loves his people. Once you’re in, you’re in for life. He likes to make new people friends, too, and that takes some time and treats… and those are treats without caramel color, because you know, the allergies. He loves attention, training, and showing his set of learned skills. He likes drinking from the hose, being outside with his people, and helping with yard work. If you have sticks, he’ll chew them. If you’re pulling weeds, he’ll shake them and spit them out…mostly. With patience, proper introductions, and some training, Mighty possibly could live with another dog. He previously lived with a female dog and a cat! He has not had the best of experiences with other animals since then, so we tend to err on the side of caution. We’ve loved this guy from the moment we saw him tied to a tree with a note stating, “My name is Mighty, …just tell me it’s OK Needs a good home and lots of love” We’ve come a long way from where he wouldn’t go near the car, wouldn’t go up or down the stairs, and only went outside to do his business. He now, cannot wait for the next car ride and uses the stairs like Rocky. (Except for the basement stairs, they’re still scary.) We’re not going to lie though; his forever home is one in a million. His new home will require experience, management, smarts, time and dedication. As they say, nothing worthwhile comes easy and nothing that comes easy is worthwhile. Mighty is a sweet, playful, loving dog, and is very loyal in his devotion to his people. He has quite a few quirks, but hey, who doesn’t? He has a long life ahead of him, and deserves an active, loving home that will always tell him, it’s OK.

Meet CHUNK! Saying he is handsome, is stating the obvious. He is also sweet, loyal, funny, and full of kisses. He is a true companion. CHUNK is incredibly smart and has a giant desire to please. He is the perfect pup for someone who wants a young dog, but would like to skip the tiny puppy training days. He knows not to potty in the house. He spends most of his days sunning in the back yard and hanging with his foster moms and siblings. At night he likes to hang out in the kitchen while dinner is being cooked, snuggling on the couch and curling up on his doggie bed while his people are binge watching their favorite shows. CHUNK does great with other pups! He is respectful of all of his foster siblings and truly enjoys their company. He also goes to doggie daycare where he has an exemplary report card. CHUNK is a moderate energy boy and would thrive most in a home with a yard to play in or with a forever parent who will take him to daycare and/or the dog park regularly He self entertains with toys like a champ and enjoys long naps after playtime. He loves chewing on his toys and is a good car passenger. If you are searching for an affectionate, adorable, genius of a dog, CHUNK is the new family member for you! He is ready to make a lifetime of memories with her forever family. We use Pet Express Transport (https://petexpresstupelo.wordpress.com) for our Nashville, Knoxville and New England adoptions. For our Midwest adopters, we have our own private transport. Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff. Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. Story
Breea is a 6 1/2-year-old terrier pitty mix. Her life prior to arriving at Rescue Gang was a long and heartbreaking journey. She lived outside since she was a young pup. The place she called home for over 6 years was a small chainlink run with hard rocky ground to sleep on. Her ""home"" was small, but her heart remained full of hope. She held out hope for a better life and after 6 long years, she got it! This little lady has made an incredible transformation since. She is goofy, loving, snuggly and taking full advantage of life indoors. She was able to transition to the pet life with ease. But, how? We have no clue, but we don't care because she's finally living the life she always dreamed of. She is crate-trained and potty-trained. She prefers new humans to take it slow around her. Give it about 15 minutes and she'll be laying in your lap, demanding pets. She recalls to her name and knows some basic commands. Breea is a lower-energy dog who doesn’t require much exercise, although she’s happy to join you on a short hike or walk around the neighborhood. Due to living most of her life outside, she isn’t familiar with leashes and is figuring out what they are all about. She requires a single-family home with a fenced-in yard where she won’t feel bothered by too many newcomers. A home with kids is fine by her, but they should be 10 years or older. Homes with younger kids will be considered on a case by case basis. She is being fostered with multiple other dogs, all of whom she enjoys. She has not shown interest in cats. Breea is a solid companion who is very loyal and committed to her inner circle.DATCP# 483538

If you are interested in PAXTON or in adopting a pup in general, the first step is an adoption application. Download an adoption application here Please email the completed application to chanda.woofriver@gmail.com Please submit an application rather than an inquiry with no application attached. Hi there! I’m PAXTON. I am 2 years old and love life every single day. Everyone I meet gushes all over me and says things like “Oh my gosh, he is the most handsome dog I’ve ever seen.” or “He is so cute he doesn’t even look like he can be real.” or “Wow he is 10 times more adorable than his photos.” I’m not really sure what all that means, but they seem to like me and give me tons of pets. I love pets. Let me tell you about some of my other favorite things. Food...I love food and treats. I will do absolutely anything for a treat. Foster mom says that makes me easier to train. She says I am super duper smart. I think learning things is fun. I know sit, down, kennel, give kisses, and fetch. I’m getting better at dropping it after I fetch. I will always drop it for a treat! I also know that my crate is a safe place so I am happy to hang out there when foster mom is away from home. I know outside is the place to potty; I never ever potty in the house. I love playing with other dog friends, snuggling with them on dog beds, and just having them around me. I hang out with big dogs, small dogs, boy dogs, and girl dogs…I want to be friends with everyone. I’m always up for playtime, but understand other dogs don’t want to play all the time. As long as they tell me they don’t want to play, I say “that’s cool” and entertain myself or lay down and chew a bone. I’m not a mind reader though so other dogs have to tell me they don’t want to play for me to understand. I like to play for maybe 30 minutes at a time, then it’s time for me to catch a nap. I’m a big heavy boy so long endurance isn’t my thing…no marathons are in my future. Leave those to border collies and aussies. I love car rides. I jump right in foster mom’s SUV and she says I get an A+ for my car riding behavior. I also think going for walks is the most fun thing in the universe. Foster mom has been practicing my walking skills a bunch. She says my impulse control has gotten a million times better (I get excited when I see other pups out on the town) but she still always gets me to focus on her when we see other dog friends out on strolls. She says this is something that I will continue to practice. When it is super hot outside, I get pooped pretty quickly on our walks. A mile or so is PLENTY for me in the heat. We have many visitors in my foster home. I like every single person I meet. People say I sound scary when I bark at the front door or in my crate. There isn’t anything I can do about it…that’s just my voice and I can’t change it. I don’t want people to be afraid of me. I’m a friendly guy. I’m also told that the noises I make when I play can sound scary if you don’t know me. Again, I don’t want to scare anyone, they are happy fun noises, I just can’t change my voice. I think all people of all ages are awesome, but foster mom says its best if I don’t live with little kids because I have a large mouth and sometimes accidentally put it on people when we are playing. I totally don’t mean to. I haven’t met any kitty cats in my foster home, but, if you think yours is the perfect forever family for me, please submit your application even if you have feline family members! If your application is approved, the folks at Woof River are happy to introduce me to indoor kitty cats and send you videos. Outdoor kitty cats are probably not a good fit. I would probably be tempted to chase them. Chase is a really fun game you know. Basically I have endless affection to give, want to make you smile every day, and want to be an endlessly loyal member of your pack for many years to come. Let’s make happy memories together! PAXTON’s ideal forever home has other resident dogs OR is on where he will be frequently socialized with other dogs and people. His friendly with strangers personality is such an asset, we don’t want him to ever lose it. PAXTON is an incredible dog and his forever family will be beyond blessed to have him. That being said, we don’t think PAXTON is the right fit for your very first dog or your very first large dog. For example, if you have always owned dogs but they have been beagles and cocker spaniels PAXTON isn’t the right guy for you. He deserves a home that is used to large dogs who make large dog noises. It isn’t fair to him if his silly sounds make his family nervous. PAXTON radiates a happy light. We don’t want his light to ever be dimmed. Thanks! His $490 adoption fee covers his health certificate and the cost of transport to the midwest.
