Story
Pearl - A 132 pound baby!!!! We are looking for a home with experience when it comes to guardian breeds and lots of land. She is a Central Asian Shepherd. She is great when meeting new people but meeting new dogs so far hasn’t gone as we hoped. We are opening up adoptions for her at this time to homes with no other dogs. We will be working with her more as we do believe her to be dog friendly but her protective nature doesn’t make for a great first impression and at 132 pounds we currently don’t have any other dogs that are exactly excited to meet her either. She is an absolute love. She enjoys scratches and has a playful personality when she’s comfortable with you. She’s impressive and intelligent and can hear a dog or car coming minutes before we or any of the other dogs even realize they’re there. She has amazing potential and we are excited to find her a home of her own to love and protect. If you have any questions or are interested in meeting one of the dogs or cats for adoption, please TEXT us at 661-839-2200. We are located in southern California (Antelope Valley)

Story
Astrid is a LARGE Armenian Gampr weighing in at a healthy 150 pounds. At 3 years old, Astrid is still a puppy at heart and seems to be unaware of her larger than life size. More often than not she can be found lost in her own world, running around, jumping in the air trying to catch some wind under her paws. Astrid must have a vivid imagination as she loves to just hang out on her own, keeping herself entertained. She enjoys simple things like a dip in the kiddie pool and a fluffy squeaky toy. Astrid would like to find a home where she can have all the attention to herself with no other animals. She may get along with other humans 16 and older. She would like a home with a large yard and high secure fencing. An owner willing to invest in training her to be well behaved is a requirement.

Story
Blankie was surrendered to us because his family was moving to an apartment and could not bring Blankie with them. Blankie grew up with a 4 year old and he has proved to be a somewhat gentle giant but still acts like a puppy at times. If he were to go to a family with kids they will be required to meet Blankie before we can approve and adoption. Furthermore, Blankie will need a home with access to a medium to large sized yard so he can stretch his very long legs (also 6` secure fencing is a must). Blankie grew up as the only animal in the household, however we have carefully socialized him with dogs here at the shelter. We believe he prefers female dogs that can handle him playing rough and rowdy but don`t try to overcorrect him.Blankie is extremely sweet and affectionate, he loves being pet and getting scritches once he has done a patrol of the play yard. He will need a minimum of 45 mins-1 hr of exercise everyday. He is a very strong boy and will need a strong owner as well as someone patient enough to put some work into training him. Blankie was kept as a backyard dog so he will need to be acclimated to being in a home with a family as well as will need to be potty trained.Blankie LOOOOOOOVES WATER and can frequently be found playing and sliding around in a kiddie pool in our play yard. He would prefer an adopter who is willing to provide this water time for him rather than someone who would try to break him and water up.

Story
Helena has a big heart and a big body! Haha!! We assume she is an Anatolian Shepherd/Armenian Gampr. This site does not have that as a breed option. Best as the only dog. Helena was surrendered while in labor and required emergency surgery to deliver the puppies. The people that “owned” her claimed to not have any money for vet care and were driving around with her in the car for hours looking for a vet to do the surgery for free. Finally they ended up at an emergency hospital that knew our friends at HOPE FOR PAWS and they agreed to help with the surgery only if they surrendered the dog to them. They surrendered her and then had the nerve to ask if they could leave a $1,000 deposit for one of the male puppies! Some people are amazing! Of course we would not adopt to them! Helena was so neglected! She had a prolapsed vagina that they said had been that way for “a few months” and they never got her medical care. She was extremely dirty, under weight and she’s lucky she survived! She was too weak to nurse the puppies so they were bottle fed.

These pups are in Lancaster, California too!

Story
Please contact Isabell (pawparent@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.Bertha and her 4 puppies were found in the desert in 100 degree heat at a solar field. the puppies could be caught by had but Bertha had to be trapped which was a project of a few days. They all were reunited at Paw Parent and the puppies were overjoyed! Bertha is incredibly sweet, patient and gentle and was a fabulous mom. All her puppies got adopted and now she is waiting for someone to fall in love with her. She was extremely timid at first and had no idea what it meant to walk on a leash but has come out of her shell since then and loves to go on walks now. She just wants to be a good girl and be loved. Bertha has made a new friend here at Paw Parent, Stan, the handsome lab mix and loves to run and play with him. But she is otherwise very mellow and quiet and will make a wonderful friend for a lonely heart. She weighs 68 pounds, is about 2 years old, is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. Please email us at pawparent@gmail.com if you would like to meet her.  April 22, 2024, 6:02 pm
