Hi, I’m Groot.   I’m not quite ready to be adopted, but you can come back here occasionally to check my progress and find out when to submit an application. Dog’s Name: Groot Location: Mokena, Il Age or Date of Birth: 12 Weeks Gender: Male Breed: Anatolian Shepherd / Bullmastiff / Great Pyrenees Color: Black & Tan Dog's Weight: 15 lbs Gets along with: Dogs?: All Dogs / None / Unknown Cats?:  Unknown Kids?: All kids Training: Leash trained: We're working on it Crate/Kennel:  We're working on it Potty trained: We're working on it Car:  Rides well in car, but should be harnessed for safety Meet Groot! Groot may be new to his foster home, but his sweet personality is already shining through. This young pup is the perfect blend of playful energy and laid-back charm. He loves to play and explore, then happily settles in to relax and enjoy some downtime. Mealtime is one of Groot’s favorite parts of the day! He goes right into his crate when he knows food is coming and does well being fed there. While he enjoys his meals, he sometimes saves a few kibble pieces to snack on later—just part of his easygoing personality. Groot sleeps soundly through the night and greets his foster mom each morning with excitement and tail wags. Groot has had no potty accidents in his crate, though he’s still learning the ropes with potty training overall. Since he’s still a baby, he’s eager to learn and will thrive with continued consistency and positive training. Groot will do well with just about any loving family who understands that puppies require time, patience, guidance, and lots of affection. A fenced yard would be ideal so he has a safe space to play and continue learning about the world. If you’re looking for a happy, loving puppy to grow with your family, Groot may be the perfect addition to your home! Cosmo is fed in his crate and has done wonderfully, with no potty accidents in his crate so far. Potty training is still a work in progress, as expected for a puppy, but he’s off to a great start. At night, Cosmo sleeps soundly and wakes up excited to greet his foster mom each morning, ready to start the day. Because he is still very young, Cosmo would do well with just about any family. A fenced yard would be ideal so he has a safe space to play, explore, and continue learning about the world around him. The perfect adopter for Cosmo is a family who understands that he’s still a baby—one who will provide plenty of love, patience, guidance, and consistent training. With the right home, Cosmo is sure to grow into an amazing lifelong companion. If you’re ready to welcome a playful, sweet puppy into your life, Cosmo may be the perfect match for you! Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, this dog is considered available for adoption. To apply to adopt from Just Giants Rescue fill out an online. Story
Chloe is a 2&#226&#128&#145year&#226&#128&#145old spayed Anatolian Shepherd Mix with a heart as big as her 85&#226&#128&#145pound frame! This sweet girl is slowly coming out of her shell and showing off her silly, playful personality. She loves her people and will happily follow you around the house, always wanting to be part of the action. Chloe is equal parts affectionate and goofy — she’ll make you laugh with her awkward zoomies and melt your heart when she leans in for cuddles. She does bark and whine to communicate, so she’s best suited for a family who can be patient as she continues to build her confidence. Chloe is still learning how to walk nicely on a leash and will need some guidance with basic manners. She’s also not a fan of being crated, so a home where she can have a safe space outside of a crate would be ideal. Because of her size and clumsy play style, Chloe needs a home without small children. She’ll thrive with adults or older kids who understand big, enthusiastic dogs. With love, patience, and a little training, Chloe will reward her new family with endless loyalty and goofy joy. If you’re ready for a sweet, lovable giant who will adore you unconditionally, Chloe is your girl!   If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! The adoption fee of $400 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 27, 2025, 8:58 am

Dog’s Name: Reagan Location: Yorkville, IL Date of Birth: 12/7/2024 Gender: Female Breed: Great Dane Color: Merle Dog's Weight: Gets along with: Dogs?: Yes Cats?:  Unknown Kids?: Unknown Training: Leash trained: Walks loose on leash Crate/Kennel:  Goes into crate/kennel on command Potty trained: Indicates a need to potty and doesn’t have indoor accidents Car:  Rides Well in car Meet Reagan – A Regal Beauty Ready for Her Forever Home! Reagan is a truly regal young lady with a heart full of love and a zest for life. This adorable puppy aims to please and brings the perfect mix of playful energy and sweet affection. She loves to run, romp, and play—then happily curl up for cuddles when it’s time to relax. Reagan is a total cuddle bug who thrives on attention and companionship. Personality Highlights: Playful, energetic puppy Eager to please and very affectionate Loves running, playing, and snuggling Sweet, loving, and full of joy Ideal Home for Reagan:Reagan would do best in a home with a fenced yard where she can safely burn off her puppy energy. She would absolutely love having another large-breed dog to run and play with, making a canine companion a big plus. Because she is still a puppy with lots of energy, an adopter who is ready for training, exercise, and continued socialization would be ideal. While first-time giant breed owners may be considered, experience with large or energetic dogs is preferred. Reagan is ready to bring fun, love, and cuddles into the right home—could that be yours? Story
Hi, I'm Sir Apollo and I'm ready to find my forever home. Dog’s Name: Sir Apollo Location: Chicago, IL Date of Birth: 10/01/2020 Gender: Male Breed: Great Dane Color: Blue Brindle Dog's Weight: 100 Gets along with: Dogs?: Yes - Needs slow introduction to other dogs.  He prefers his mealtime in private away from other dogs. Cats?:  No Kids?:  Yes- Older kids (10+)  Meet Sir Apollo – The Gentle Soul Finding His Courage Sir Apollo is a sweet, handsome boy who’s looking for a calm, loving home to help him continue blossoming into the confident dog he’s meant to be. Though shy and timid at first, it’s clear that Apollo wants to be brave—he’s already showing more confidence each day! With patience and reassurance, you’ll quickly see his warm, affectionate side shine through. Once you’ve earned your spot in his trusted “circle,” you’ll be greeted with joyful tail wags, excited spins, and plenty of cuddles. Apollo enjoys hiking through forest preserves, playing fetch, and carrying around his toys—but his favorite part of any day is coming home to a peaceful environment where he can relax and recharge with a happy sigh in his cozy bed. Apollo can get anxious in busy or unfamiliar situations so meeting new people one-on-one is a must.  He does take comfort in his person’s calm, confident guidance. He can be selective with other dogs and shows some resource guarding around food or toys, so slow introductions are essential. On walks, he’s generally non-reactive—unless another dog reacts first—but he’s very food-motivated and can be redirected with gentle, consistent training. Sir Apollo is searching for a quiet, stable environment with one or two adults or a family with older, calm children. He would thrive as an only dog but could potentially do well with a laid-back canine companion after slow introductions. A fenced yard would be wonderful for zoomies and fetch, though not required—he loves his neighborhood walks and is a great car rider for adventures. Apollo’s perfect match is someone patient, understanding, and confident.  Someone who can offer him the steady reassurance he needs to continue growing into the happy, secure boy he’s becoming.  If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will reward your love with devotion and gentle affection, Sir Apollo may just be your perfect match.
