Dog’s Name: Sawyer Location: Chicago, Il Age or Date of Birth: 11/18/2024 Gender: Male Breed: Matador (Mastiff / Labrador Mix) Color: Tan Dog's Weight: 45 lbs Gets along with: Dogs?: All Dogs Cats?: Unknown Kids?: All kids Training: Leash trained:  In progress Crate/Kennel:   In progress Potty trained:   Yes Car: Rides well in car Meet Sawyer – Your New Best Buddy! Say hello to Sawyer, a true bundle of joy and Mr. Personality! This happy-go-lucky young pup has never met a stranger—whether human or canine, he didn't like.  Sawyer is ready with a tail wag and a heart full of love. He’s playful, affectionate, and always down for a good snuggle after some fun! Don’t let his young age fool you—Sawyer is impressively well-behaved indoors. He’s respectful, friendly, and full of charm. He does get a little bouncy when excited to see you (can you blame him?), but he's already working hard on his manners. Sawyer loves playing with other dogs and thrives on the energy of a good romp. He can get a bit rowdy in the best of ways, but he listens when other pups ask him to tone it down. A playful doggy sibling would be a dream for him, but it’s not a requirement—he just wants love and attention, whether it comes from a pup or a person! Sawyer had a brief encounter with cats in a previous foster home. While he seemed curious and eager to play, he showed no signs of aggression. With proper introductions, he could likely coexist with a dog-savvy cat. Sawyer is still brushing up on his basic commands, but he’s eager to learn and please. A little consistency and positive reinforcement will go a long way with this bright boy. Medical Note:Sawyer is scheduled to see an animal eye specialist on 7/30 to evaluate a condition called entropion. Sawyer would thrive in just about any loving home. Whether it’s a family with another playful pup or a human who can give him lots of attention and playtime, Sawyer’s heart is wide open. He’s ready to be your loyal companion and best friend. Story
Hi, All Mac, here short for Mac truck lol. If you love big goofy dogs, I'm your guy. I am 100 lbs. of cuddle bug. I really don't think I am as big as they say I am because I would prefer to just be a couch Potatoe and lay next to my people and chew on a bone. I am a people kind of guy and love everyone I meet. I can probably live with another dog, but he would have to be calmer like me. but little dogs and very young children I would be afraid of because I am clumsy and wouldn't want to hurt them. I definitely don't think I could handle cats. But I know a lot of commands they say I am really smart and a fast learner. I am potty trained but do not like cages. I am strong on a leash so I would need a strong owner. Fill out an app here. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdsHBf5NUtvyBYpzWm6Z5Z0JosLBTsDC98oxPTfxtM9brrc7Q/viewform

Story
Calling all Mastiff and Senior lovers!! ❤️❤️ Our special sweet 10 year old Mastiff Mix Caramel Apple is in urgent need of a forever home. Caramel came up north after being surrendered by her owner for no fault of her own. After 45 days, her time for euthanasia came for length of stay - pups only get 45 days. This poor sweet senior was lucky enough to have a family step up to foster who planned to give her a retirement home. But due to a death in their family, life threw loving Caramel a curve ball. A new foster stepped up but Caramel finds her self searching again after foster has had a life change and she finds herself with no place to go. This is no place for a senior who recently completed ACL surgery after falling in her foster home. Caramel Apple is hearing impaired but that hasn’t slowed this sweet gentle giant down. She’s 111 lbs of love! She is wonderful with children in her foster home and other larger dogs in her foster home. She lovingly takes treats and enjoys a long nap! She loves every human she meets! If you want a mature pup with manners, Caramel is your girl - she takes treats gently, is fully potty trained and even knows hand commands. Caramel’s an easy to please girl, she craves nothing more than a comfy bed, sunbathing or light strolls followed by a nice back rub. Caramel has been waiting since October and has completely ACL surgery and heartworm treatment and she deserves nothing more than a forever home to spend the rest of her years. If you have a spot on the couch or a warm bed, Caramel is your gentle giant! Our standard adoption fee is $375 cash or check and $385 credit card ($10 processing fee). . It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age-appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Applications will not be reviewed unless fully completed. An application does not commit you to adopting and does not guarantee adoption but does allow us to begin the review process. Please understand we must meet your entire household, including dogs, before an adoption will be approved. Please email adopt@safehavendogsIL.org for an application or additional details. Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed. Safe Haven Dog Rescue reserves the right to refuse adoption of any dog or puppy to any applicant (adopter) for any reason.

Bailey Age: 2 years Gender: Female Breed: Mastiff mix Weight: 100lbs Crate trained: Yes Potty trained: Yes Dog friendly: No Cat friendly: Yes Kid friendly: Unknown Vaccinated: Yes Spayed/Neutered: Yes Heartworm: Negative Microchipped: Yes Energy level: Medium, can and will find things she can destroy if not watched or exercised regularly. Location: Fostered in Chicago, Illinois. No out of state applicants, please. Bailey came to us as a skinny, terrified, stray dog that would have likely been euthanized at animal control. Her finder spent days gaining her trust to get her off the streets, and offered to foster her. Bailey has blossomed since first being found. She loves to be outside. Very protective of her people. Loves to roll in the grass. Sweetie pie. Loves to eat. Enjoys stealing wet cat food. Not a fan of other dogs. Still working on her walking calm when others are too close for her comfort but she’s a protective breed and watches over her foster mom. She doesn’t care for bike riders. Bailey is a sweetie pie that thinks she's a small lap dog. She's happy just to be with you. She loves long walks and playing outside but if you just want to stay inside and watch a movie she's content to put her big head on your lap and watch the movie with you. Bailey would do best in a quiet home with adults only. If you’re interested in meeting Bailey, please fill out an application at the link below. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DHDN/Dog

Dog’s Name: Bruno Location: Belleville, Il. Age or Date of Birth: 2 yrs Gender: Male Breed: St. Bernard Color: Brown & White Dog's Weight: 150 (approx) Gets along with: Dogs?: All Dogs Cats?:  All Cats  Kids?: All kids, Older kids, needs slow introduction Training: Leash trained: Walks on loose leash Crate/Kennel: Goes in on his own, but is anxious if the door is closed. Potty trained: We're working on it. Car: Still assessing Meet Bruno – The Giant Sweetheart! Bruno is a big boy with an even bigger heart! This gentle giant is sweet, submissive, and gets along well with other dogs. He’s even been respectful around cats — just a curious sniff and then he's on his way. Bruno is still adjusting to life outside of the pack he came from, which has been a bit of a challenge for him emotionally. He’s showing improvement every day and is slowly gaining confidence and comfort in his new routine. He’ll go into a crate on his own to nap or sleep, but still gets anxious if the door is closed, so his foster family keeps it open to help him feel secure. Bruno is currently working on potty training and basic house manners, and while he’s making progress each day, he’ll do best in a home with someone experienced in handling giant breeds. Due to his size and strength, he needs guidance and structure — and possibly a confident dog companion to help show him the ropes. Bruno's ideal adopter is one who is experienced with large or giant breeds, patient and consistent with training, and one who is always or quite often home as he thrives on companionship..  A fur sibling would be great to provide the additional companionship he craves. Hi!  I'm Magnolia and I'm ready for adoption. Dog’s Name: Magnolia Location: Ft. Atkinson, WI Age or Date of Birth: 02/16/2023 Gender: Female Breed: St. Bernard Color: Tricolor Dog's Weight: 127.8 Gets along with: Dogs?: All Dogs Cats?:  All Cats Kids?: All Kids Training: Leash trained: Walks loose on leash Potty trained: Indicates a need to potty and doesn’t have indoor accidents Car:  Rides Well in car Meet Magnolia — A Gentle Soul Ready for a Fresh Start! Magnolia, aka Maggy Magnolia is a sweet and gentle 2-year-old Saint Bernard with a heart as big as her paws. She comes from a well-rounded background and has been lovingly socialized with other dogs, cats, chickens, and children—getting along wonderfully with all of them.  While she’s still building her trust with people, Magnolia’s adventurous spirit is shining through thanks to the encouragement of her foster siblings. She enjoys playtime with toys, chewing on bones, and snuggling up close to her foster mom when she’s not romping around the yard. Magnolia is still working on her basic commands, but she’s eager to please and already has excellent recall—she knows her name and comes running when called. She does great in a fenced yard and is reliable off-leash, too!  Car rides are a work in progress; she sometimes needs a little lift to get in, but once she’s settled, she either relaxes or happily soaks in the breeze with her head out the window. Magnolia is looking for a patient and loving home that will continue to help her grow in confidence and shower her with the affection she deserves. If you’re ready for a loyal, loving companion, Magnolia might just be your perfect match. Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, this dog is considered available for adoption. Story
Dog’s Name: Betty Location: West Terre Haute, IN Age or Date of Birth: 05/18/2020 Gender: Female Breed: St. Bernard Color: Tricolor Weight: 132 lbs Betty is a 5-year-old sweetheart who’s as cuddly as they come! She’s an affectionate, laid-back girl who absolutely adores belly rubs and snuggles. Despite her size, she’s gentle and well-mannered—and she’s always ready to learn something new. Don’t let her age fool you—Betty still has playful bursts of energy, but she’s just as happy to curl up for a cozy nap after some fun. She’s crate trained and goes to her kennel on command like a pro. She’s also doing great on leash walks! While she can get a little excited and pull at times, she redirects easily and listens well—especially when asked to “sit pretty” for her leash on and off. She’s had no accidents in the house and is used to going potty while on leash. Betty does wonderfully with other dogs and loves kids! We’re not sure about cats yet, but she’s shown an easygoing temperament in most situations. She enjoys being outdoors, loves car rides, and just wants to be where the people are. (Don’t even think about going into the store without her—she’ll wait, but she won’t be happy about it! ) She even makes cleaning up her drool a game—what more could you ask for? Ideal Home:Betty is as adaptable as they come. Whether you're a first-time giant breed owner or a seasoned pro, she’ll fit right in. She’s content to lounge in her crate while her people are at work but will always be ready for love and attention when you’re home. She doesn't require a fenced yard and would thrive in almost any home that offers affection and stability. Bonus points if you're willing to sing her a special version of "Black Betty" with custom lyrics just for her—she swears it makes her tail wag harder! If you're looking for a calm, loving, drool-tolerant best friend, Betty might just be your perfect match. Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, this dog is considered available for adoption.
