Meet Peyton! Peyton is a 4 year old Anatolian Shaphard mix. She’s been with us at HALO for a few weeks for an evaluation to be adopted. As an Anatolian, she does have guardian breed protection tendencies. She would do best in an adult only home as the only dog. We have been working to socialize her with other dogs in playgroups during her stay. She was cat tested and decided the cat was scary! She will need a home with an experienced guardian breed owner. A few fun facts about Peyton: She is potty trained and very clean, not destructive She loves to play ball She is a great walking buddy She likes to jump up and give you kisses (a bad habit we are trying to break) She loves being able to run in our field and would love to have a big backyard of her own She loves to play in water Adoption fee includes spay, vaccines, and microchip. Dakota is a handsome name, kind of a "rugged" kind of name, right?? I am kind of a REFINED RUGGED kind of boy! NOT!! I am a snuggle bug looking for tummy scratches....I willl MELT for one!! Here is what one of our amazing fosters have to say about Dakota...."Super freaking sweet, loves loves belly rubs, is very strong when you walk him but listens well. VERY treat motivated and knows sit down paw and i just taught him roll over yesterday but its a work in progress 😝. Super playful, he will pounce around you and then roll over for belly rubs and absolutely melts for the belly rubs and kisses" I love playing and running with my doggy friends, however, I can lay at your feet very sweetly to beg for your attention. I am kind of like a "reverse" planter as well. I mean, you plant it and i will un-plant it for you :D I won't do it often, just when I want your attention and I am outside alone. So see?? you have great control over that urge! So I am a food and toy lover too, I eat out of a slow feeder bowl because wolfing down my food is not an option! I am learning all things toys and am actually learning how to bring the ball BACK after you throw it. I am a smart and very sweet boy. I do absolutely have a prey drive so no kitties for small furry mammals around me please. I am fully potty trained and great in a crate. Now i just need you to adopt me to complete my circle of life. So there i was.... minding my bus-iness... when BAM, I was saved!!! Now i think you entered in the middle of my story..... so lets go back a couple of weeks.... Again, there I was.... wandering the neighborhood when I was seen by some of the nice neighbors and ONE of them happened to be a vet tech at a school.... and so, they knew my AWESOME rescue :D And HERE I AM!! Shrek is a great name for me too! I am kind of a sweet OGRE looking boy with a loving heart and kind of beat up body..... it is HARD to live on the streets! I had an old broken leg too, so limping was my norm... UNTIL, the rescue did the xrays and discovered that my back leg had been broken and healed very wonky.... and amputated it... And it is fine!! It doesn't hurt anymore... that was my dailly battle. NOW, I am a healthy TRIPOD boy looking for just the right family... one who will care for me for all my days!
