Story
Meet Hank, a one-of-a-kind farm companion with a big personality and an even bigger heart. This handsome guy is on the mend, with his hair slowly growing back in—patchy for now, but getting softer every day—which only adds to his unique charm.Hank is a total lover, though not overly cuddly. He prefers to show his affection by staying close and being part of whatever you’re doing. He truly thrives in a farm setting and shines when he has a job—whether it’s helping with chores or keeping watch over the property. He does great with other dogs, as well as horses and goats, making him a wonderful fit for a multi-animal home.He seems to have a soft spot for men but has bonded closely with a teen girl in his current home, showing that once he chooses his person, he’s incredibly loyal. He enjoys the company of teenagers, though he hasn’t yet been around younger children.Hank has an independent and playful side. He enjoys water and swimming—on his own terms—but tolerates baths without much fuss. He’s also very smart… maybe a little too smart, as he has learned how to open refrigerators (an expensive surprise for his foster!).Hank is also hypothyroid and will need ongoing, routine medication to manage his condition. With proper care, dogs with hypothyroidism can live happy, healthy lives, and Hank is already doing well with his treatment. One important thing to note is that Hank does not tolerate being confined. He has proven to be quite the escape artist, breaking out of kennels, crates, and fencing when he feels restricted. However, in a home with space—like his current large property with boundary fencing—he does very well. He stays within his area, enjoys following his people around, and is happiest when included in daily activities. His recall is decent but will need some continued work, especially in public settings.Hank is best suited for a home that can offer him space, purpose, and understanding. In the right environment, he’s a loyal, hardworking, and entertaining companion who will happily be your shadow outdoors and your partner in daily life.
