Story
This beauty is Odda Mae. She is a purebred Australian Cattle Dog who is 3.5 years old and weighs 38 pounds. Odda Mae is well trained and is fostered by a professional trainer. She knows: Come, sit, down, stay, heel, load up, free (release). She is house and crate trained. She loves her crate. Odda Mae is wonderful with people when outside the home. When at home, she can be timid and appreciates an owner who knows how to manage welcoming people into a Heeler home. She listens well to an owner who has things managed. Odda Mae is good with other male dogs or small dogs, and lives with other dogs. She also loves to play. She is also great with cats. Odda Mae is a good adventure partner. She is good on leash and is good in the car. Odda Mae is such a cute girl and very social in public. She also needs someone who knows the breed and isn't a pushover. She isn't ok in a home with lots of people coming/going and she doesn't appreciate guests who let themselves in unless she’s in her kennel.

Story
Meet AugustAugust is a happy-go-lucky Heeler mix who`s thriving in foster care. He`s playful, silly, snuggly, and a friend to everyone he meets—dogs and humans alike. While he`s an energetic 2-year-old, he`s also remarkably chill during the day. He loves to splay his toys everywhere, splash in his doggy pool, roll around in the yard, and go on car rides to fun outings. The practical stuff: Housetrained. Sleeps through the night. No destruction. Gets along great with his 13-year-old foster sibling. Solid with kids. He`s working on leash manners (he pulls a bit at first, not aggressively—just enthusiastic).Like any Heeler, August will do best with a family that can provide regular exercise and mental enrichment. In return, you`ll get tail wags, full-body snuggles, and nonstop laughs at his antics and joy.August is neutered and ready for his forever home. Contact SLO County Animal Services at 805-781-4400 to be connected with his foster family today!

Story
Meet FALCONQuiet gentle Falcon is part of a bonded pair with Olsa, who is most likely his daughter. They were left behind when the family moved away, and found themselves in our shelter, sad and confused. But they have each other and that seems to make all the difference! They have been in foster care for several months and are doing very well there.Falcon is about ten years old and about 53 pounds. He is a sweet gentle soul who doesn`t wanna cause any trouble. He loves going on walks around the neighborhood but otherwise is just happy to hang out. He is not fit enough for hikes or long walks however. The two of them are so easy that anybody who wants dogs that make few demands but are good company would be lucky to have these two. They are crate trained and love going on car rides as well and of course they are housebroken. They do great with other dogs and seemed scared when they met a cat. They are gentle with children.Falcon is extremely shy when he first meets people so you need to give him a chance to warm up to you. He will need multiple meetings and a patient person to give him time to build trust, and would need a gradual transition to a new home. Once he does, he will worship you and give you his absolute loyalty, seeking you out for affection and attention. He walks gently on leash but can be frightened by strangers approaching so he would need to be allowed to keep his distance.Olsa and Falcon are very attached to each other, and need to go together to a home with a secure yard and a patient family who will let them settle in and build trust at their own pace. The reward is two dogs who are affectionate, obedient, quiet, and easy to have around!

Meet OLSASweet Olsa is part of a bonded pair with Falcon, who is most likely her father. They were left behind when the family moved away, and found themselves in our shelter, sad and confused. But they have each other and that seems to make all the difference! They have been in foster care for several months and are doing very well there.Olsa is about eight years old and about 43 pounds. She is an adorable girl, quiet most of the time except when shes trying to get her buddy to play! She loves going on walks around the neighborhood but otherwise shes just happy to hang out; she`s not fit enough for more exercise, so she wouldn`t be a good hiking buddy. The two of them are so easy that anybody who wants dogs that make few demands but are good company would be lucky to have these two. They are crate trained and love going on car rides as well and of course they are housebroken. They do great with other dogs and seemed scared when they met a cat. They are gentle with children.Olsa is shy when she first meets people so you need to give her a chance to warm up. She will need multiple meetings with a potential adopter to get to that point, and a gradual transition to a new home. But once she does shes a lovely companion and would be perfect for someone who just wants some dogs to hang around with that don`t require much. She is also quite frightened by new or sudden sounds, so anyone who adopts her would need to be able to handle a 40-ish pound dog that might be startled and pull sharply on a leash. The rest of the time she walks beautifully.Olsa and Falcon are very attached to each other, and need to go together to a home with a secure yard and a patient family who will let them settle in and build trust at their own pace. Story
This is one of the hardest things we’ve ever had to do, but due to an unexpected change in our living situation, we are looking for a very special home for our 8-year-old heeler/border collie rescue. She was rescued from the streets of Tulare after being severely abused and traumatized. She spent a year in a Tulare shelter and another year at Woods Humane Society before we adopted her a couple of years ago. When she came to us, she was understandably terrified and had a very hard time trusting people. Over the years, she has learned what love, safety, and trust feel like. She is incredibly loyal to the people she bonds with, and once she trusts you, she is loyal to a fault. She has so much love to give to the right person. Because of her past, she can be reactive toward people and other dogs. She needs a patient, experienced person who has time to work with her. She would do best with no children, a securely fenced yard/property, and someone who can give her a calm, consistent environ.
