Story
Cattle Dog mix, female puppyDottie is a 5 month old, cattle dog mix. We estimate she’ll be between 35-40lbs at maturity. Dottie made her way into a foster home last week for a little extra TLC and exposure to the outside world. She’s always been the more introverted and stoic pup among her siblings - a wallflower and observer. This isn’t a mix with water, instant kinda love. It’s slow and steady and will require ingredients such as patience, time, routine, structure, safety and security. In exchange, you’ll have the most loyal, loving bond that will last a lifetime. Dottie loves her walks and there’s no quicker way to this girl’s heart than through the leash. People pay big money to trainers and invest a lot of time trying to get a dog to walk the way Dottie does on lead. A good loose leash walk is underestimated. She does it naturally. Dottie is also incredibly affectionate once she lets you in to her world. Couch snuggles, the best! Her coat is super soft and she nuzzles her way right into the crook of your arm or leg. She so badly wants to connect with a person. It took 48 hours for her to trust her foster but now they are inseparable. We know she’s capable of building this with anyone that vows to be her pack leader. Sadly, she was thrust into survival mode from too young of an age - left to fend for herself with no guidance, no protector. You can see the wave of relief wash over her when she realizes she’s not responsible for that anymore. Dottie would thrive in a home with another balanced dog to continue showing her the ropes. She does need a minute to warm up to new dogs but with a proper introduction she will pack up and be better off because of it. Dottie is microchipped, spayed, and on a vaccine schedule. She is located in Arroyo Grande, CA. More photos and updates: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1582442099384105&type=3 Interested in Dottie? Story
Cattle Dog mix male puppy  Welcome George from Kern County Animal Services. By shelter standards, this guy was in for a while. Someone must have liked him and kept him alive long enough for us to scoop him to safety. He’s in foster with an awesome family, ranch style. So far here is what they report: “George is super cute, playful and adventurous. He’s snuggly and loves people. He plays well with other dogs but not quite ready to share food yet. He’s got super cool coat coloring and at 29lbs, is the perfect size. So far he’s been pretty quiet. He’s going to make someone a great dog!” George is a 10-12 month old cattle dog mix. He is microchipped, UTD on vaccines, and will be getting scheduled for a neuter shortly. Located in San Luis Obispo, CA More photos and updates:  https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1600137990947849&type=3 Interested in George?  Please complete an application at: http://bit.ly/CCHDR_AppNovember 30, 2025, 4:55 pm

Story
Cattle Dog mix, femaleWelcome Juniper from the Bradshaw Animal Shelter. This sweet, but shy girl will be decompressing and healing with one of our experienced fosters. Per her foster: “Juniper is great! Super sweet. Nice to the kids and my husband, as well as the resident dogs.” She’s on light duty for the next couple of weeks healing a fractured toe, but no better time to bond with a dog when they have vet’s orders to take it easy. She is spayed, microchipped, and UTD on vaccines. Compatability with cats, critters, and livestock unknown at this time. Juniper is a beautiful, 34lb, 1 yr old, Queensland heeler mix. She is microchipped, spayed, and UTD on vaccines. Located in Wilton, CA (near Sacramento) More photos and updates:  https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1611188616509453&type=3 Interested in Juniper?  Please complete an application at: http://bit.ly/CCHDR_AppDecember 8, 2025, 6:50 pm
