(We did her DNA test) Personality and Needs Maggie will benefit from friendly socialization and training to help her grow in confidence. She may also enjoy having a confident dog companion who can support her as she learns and adjusts to her new life. Because of high prey drive, dogs smaller than Maggie are not recommended. Training and Behavior Recently, Maggie completed several weeks of obedience training, where she learned how to sit, heel, and recall on lead. She is comfortable in a crate and will seek out her crate when she wants some quiet time alone. Although rather shy, a family with patience who can give her the time and space to feel at ease in her new environment will help her adjust. Likes and Ideal Home Maggie loves playing in water, going for long walks, and spending time with other dogs her size or larger. Potential adopters are responsible for communicating directly with the pet's guardian. We believe Bela Jean to be around 9 years old. She was rescued from a neglect situation. When she was rescued we were told she is a blue heeler, but I suspect she is a mix, perhaps with a beagle, as she has the ears and howl of a beagle. Bela Jean is very cuddly and affectionate with humans. She wants nothing more than to be in your lap or tucked close by your side. However, she can at times be possessive and has recently taken to occasionally resource guarding her people from other dogs. Bela Jean is house trained, but we do leave puppy pads available through long work days, which she will occasionally use. Bela Jean does pretty well on a leash and loves her trips to the vet. She will bark at cats. Bela Jean is great with children, especially if they throw a squeaker ball or run and let her chase them. Bela Jean came to us from a neglect situation within our family. We were informed that she is a 9 year old beagle/blue heeler mix. Since coming to us she has been spayed and brought up to date on her veterinary care. Bela Jean deeply loves human attention and affection. Her ideal day is spent cuddling with her humans, though she is always excited to play with children. Her favorite games are fetch with a squeaky ball and following the kids. She is an ideal dog for someone looking for a slow paced dog that doesn't require a lot of exercise or energy release. Bela is eager to please and will thrive in a loving environment with affectionate humans. Bela Jean chases cats. She will also resource guard if she feels another dog is taking up too much human attention. I see this mostly in the evenings when we are settling in for bed and she growls at our other foster dog, who is also her pup.
