Story
Meet Sweet Maggie Maggie is a beautiful Cattle dog, Akita, German Shepherd, Collie mix searching for a loving family to call her own. (We did her DNA test) Personality and Needs Maggie will benefit from friendly socialization and training to help her grow in confidence. She may also enjoy having a confident dog companion who can support her as she learns and adjusts to her new life. Because of high prey drive, dogs smaller than Maggie are not recommended. Training and Behavior Recently, Maggie completed several weeks of obedience training, where she learned how to sit, heel, and recall on lead. She is comfortable in a crate and will seek out her crate when she wants some quiet time alone. Although rather shy, a family with patience who can give her the time and space to feel at ease in her new environment will help her adjust. Likes and Ideal Home Maggie loves playing in water, going for long walks, and spending time with other dogs her size or larger. She would thrive in a home with a confident dog to socialize with, which would help her build her own confidence. With the right family and environment, Maggie is sure to shine and become a cherished member of the household. Story
We first adopted Sofie in Baltimore, MD when she was a puppy. We were attracted by her sweet nature (via jumping on our laps and giving licks to the face). We have another dog, cat, and a child in our home. Sofie does well with our cat, and for the most part does well with our other dog. However, recently there have been instances where the dogs have gotten into fights. With a new child in our home, we feel there is too much risk to allow these fights to continue, though we love both of our dogs dearly. Sofie is incredibly loyal and a highly trainable dog. She loves to play tug a war and chase after frisbees. She would benefit from being the only dog in the home, with an owner who prioritizes her training/play. Sofie would be best in a home without young children. She is 6 years old and has so much love to give to the right home.

Story
Sweet as Sugar fits this girl well! Her elderly owner passed away leaving her and two other housemates without a place to go! This beautiful girl ended up in a rural shelter which is absolutely no place for a beloved pet! Her collar read "Daddy's GIrl" when she was turned in and we're sure her dad never expected her to end up in a locked up pen. Blue Ridge Animal Rescue pulled her and her housemate into rescue and they have never looked back! She is enjoying spending one on one time with her Paws Behind Bars dog trainer and relishing in the attention! She is also learning to walk well on a leash as she is pretty strong and had no previous leash training. Sugar is also working on commands such as sit, down and stay! She does well with other dogs, has been fostered with three others and should make someone a wonderful lifelong companion! She is losing weight (intake had her in the "butterball" category) and currently is around 55 pounds and her age is a spry 4-5 years. She's got plenty of love and life yet to go and can't wait to share it with a special family! To inquire or for an adoption application - please email to blueridgerescue@aol.com

Meet Lennox! 🐾 Lennox is a 3-year-old Cattle Dog mix weighing in at 40 pounds. She’s spayed, microchipped, and fully up to date on vaccines and preventatives. This sweet, happy girl is an absolute joy and is sure to bring endless love and laughter to her forever family. A proud graduate of dog training program, Lennox is crate-trained, house-trained, and knows her basic commands. She’s smart, affectionate, and loves to please — especially when she’s getting plenty of love and attention in return! If you want to always be greeted with a smile and a happy wiggle butt when you come home, Lennox is your girl! She would thrive as the only pet in the home, as she prefers not to share her humans with other dogs or cats. A fenced yard would be ideal so she can stretch her legs and get the exercise she loves. Lennox is a people-focused pup who blossoms with structure, guidance, and companionship. If you’re ready to welcome this loyal, loving girl into your life, please start by submitting an adoption application on our website: www.adoptmebluegrasspetrescue.com.
