Story
We adopted Koda from a shelter in 2021. He was a stray so there wasn’t much info when we got him. He is around 5-6 years old. He listens most of the time. He does know “lay down” and knows that he’s supposed to lay down in a specific spot. He loves to be outside running around or even just laying in the sun. He needs to have either a fenced in yard or an invisible fence of some sort as he will take off. Koda is well mannered while inside. He was crate trained, but hasn’t been in one for a few years unless he stays at someone else’s house. He has recently started to become aggressive to our other two dogs. It isn’t all the time, but is enough to be concerning especially with our infant son getting to the point where he could start walking at any point. Koda cannot be around cats. He is very aggressive towards them. He would do well as an only pet. He has done well in the past with children around 3-4years old and older but is unsure of our 10 month old son.

Story
If you're looking to adopt a sensational senior, Lucy is your girl.  She is an Australian Cattle Dog mix, born Dec 2015.  She is a little timid at first, but will be your best pal once she get to know you.  She is seriously the ideal dog!   She needs a home with a fenced yard and she is usually good with other dogs (we would do a dog intro to make sure she got along with any in your house).  She might prefer to be the only dog in the house, it really depends on the dogs.  She does fine with dogs that don't get in her face.  She gets a little nervous and when they get right in her face.  She's met lots of other dogs she's been fine with.  Here are a few more fun facts: *Good with kids         *House trained *Low energy              *Quiet/doesn't bark much (inside or outside)              *Walks well on a leash *Curious about cats and gets along with them  *Trained to stay off furniture      *No counter surfing for food      *Leaves the trash alone and doesn't chew on anything that is out around the house *She is not kenneled during the day because she's very well behaved, but she is also fine in a kennel. *She only barks if someone rings the doorbell, knocks, or if a visitor leaves. If someone just walks in the house, she doesn't bark. She doesn't even bark at the neighbors or their dogs when she's outside.  *She has 2 medications she takes in the evening for incontinence.  As long as she has them, she doesn't have accidents. She's very good at letting her foster mom know when she needs to go outside.  The medication isn't too expensive.  *She needs to be on Purina ProPlan urinary food. She goes through about a bag and a half during a month.  This food helps reduce the chance of stones forming in her bladder/kidney. *Lucy likes to follow her foster mom around the house to see what she's doing, but if it's not exciting to her, she will go back to her bed and lay down.   If you're looking for a well-behaved senior girl that you don't have to train, Lucy might just be for you. The suggested adoption donation for Lucy is $275. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.  Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.  To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page, Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc. ##2046791##

Story
This is Winstorn, an Australian Cattle dog, born Oct 2020.  Winston would love to be on a farm or acreage where he has room to run, play and explore.  Bonus points if you have a job for him as his breed really needs to have something to do.  He has spent time with friends on a large property and their 3 dogs.  He is a little anxious sometimes, but eager to please.  This likely comes from his excess energy and just needing something to do.  Winston is startled by kids screaming and small dogs barking.  He will benefit from some leash training because he is reactive to other dogs when on a leash. Winston is very attentive and affectionate with his people.  He is anxious to find a family that will give him all the attention, snuggles and love he deserves! The suggested adoption donation for Winston is $375, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Adoptions for Winston are limited to the area within 50 miles of Omaha so that he can continue to take advantage of free training from our certified positive reinforcement trainers. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. Story
Treble and his sister, Honey, are adult Blue Heeler/Shepherd mixes (born 2020) who are looking for a home where they may be together.  Treble is deaf and is occasionally skittish and easily startled.  He will be reactive if he thinks a visitor is an intruder in the house, even more so if they are wearing a big hat.  He knows some hand signals such as pointing or a fist up for sit.  He is crate trained, but becomes anxious when left alone. Treble likes being active so his new home needs a fenced yard.  It would be best if the family had no children, cats or small dogs.  Treble and Honey both love to cuddle and will be happy to give all the kisses you want.  Even better if they're allowed on the furniture to nap and sleep! The suggested adoption donation for both Treble and Honey is $550, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we only assist the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption.   Adoptions for Honey and Treble are limited to the area within 50 miles of Omaha so that they can continue to take advantage of free training from our certified positive reinforcement trainers. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION.
