Story
Garfy is a 10-year-old Blue Heeler mix (45lbs) with a big heart, a loyal streak, and way more pep than his age would suggest. Garfy has settled easily into his foster home routine and acts much younger than 10, especially when he knows something exciting is about to happen. Garfy is generally good with other dogs, though he can struggle with personal space when he gets excited and may become a bit mouthy in play. He isn’t trying to be pushy—he just gets enthusiastic—so he would do best with dogs that tolerate that or with thoughtful supervision. We haven’t seen him with cats or kids. While he is not aggressive, his excitement and lack of situational awareness when stimulated make him better suited for a home with older children or adults. With people, Garfy is sweet and affectionate once he feels safe. He can be nervous around new people at first and may bark or keep his distance, but with time and patience he warms up well and enjoys attention from both men and women. He is very bonded to his people and loves being close, including cuddling and inviting himself into bed at night. Garfy is housebroken and does a great job signaling when he needs to go outside. He has not shown any destructive behaviors. On walks, he sometimes confuses a fast pace with play and may grab the leash, but he redirects easily and walks nicely during calmer strolls. He enjoys a structured routine and prefers starting his day with a walk, after which he is content to relax for most of the day. He is extremely food motivated, and learns quickly—often picking up new commands faster than expected. He is curious, adaptable, and respectful when told no, even around human food. While he’s okay with some alone time, he doesn’t love being left behind and prefers being part of the action. Garfy would do best with an experienced dog owner who understands that excitement doesn’t equal bad behavior. He thrives with routine, enjoys regular walks, and doesn’t need a highly active home—just consistency and understanding. He is loyal, affectionate, and full of love, and his age shouldn’t overshadow how much life and devotion he still has to offer. Story
Loyal Cattle Dog Mix: Ball Player, Cuddler & Protector! Meet Kanga! I’m a 6-year-old Cattle Dog mix with a heart bigger than my ears. A rescue survivor, I am deeply loyal and looking for an experienced leader to be my new person. My Best Traits: Ball is Life: I play fetch for hours. Athletic & focused! Velcro Dog: Once play is done, I am a 100% lap dog. I want to be touching you constantly. Pack Loyalty: I bond hard. I live with another dog now and adore my pack. What I Need: I am a true Cattle Dog! I have strong protective instincts and will guard my home (I bark at strangers). I can get over-excited or defensive (typical "Heeler nip"), so I need calm, structured leadership. I’m housebroken but can have submissive piddles when greeting! I take Cosequin for mild hip dysplasia after heavy exercise. Ideal Home: Fenced yard, best with respectful school-aged kids (8+), and an owner who understands herding breeds. If you want a shadow who adores you, I’m your girl!

Story
WE ARE A TX-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application at haydudeequine.org Calling All Senior Dog Lovers and Hospice Heroes… Molly Needs You 💕 Meet Molly – an 11–12 year old, 73-pound (slightly overweight - ideal 55-60ish lbs) bundle of pure, gentle love who will look at you like she’s peering straight into your soul. Molly is the kind of dog who lives for her people. If you stop petting her, she’ll politely place a paw on your arm as a friendly reminder that your job isn’t finished yet. If that doesn’t work, she’ll gently nose your hand like, “Excuse me… more love, please.” She follows her humans from room to room, happy just to be near you. Wherever you are, that’s exactly where Molly wants to be. She’s wonderful with other dogs, especially smaller, mellow pals, and she’s also great with cats. She’s fully housebroken, not destructive in the house, and is truly an easy, low-maintenance girl. A perfect family dog… and the world’s worst watchdog. Seriously. Pet her once and you can have anything you want. Scratch her ears and she might even help you load it into the car. Molly still gets the happy dance when you come home, like it’s the best moment of her entire day. She’s a little hard of hearing now, but she can still pick up certain tones—and she has no problem hearing the sound of a treat bag magically opening from across the house. Like many older gals, Molly has a few lumps and bumps. Sadly, the vet believes the mass on her shoulder is likely cancerous. Because of her age and its location, surgery isn’t recommended. The kindest plan is to let her live out her remaining time comfortable, cherished, and completely spoiled – exactly what she deserves. Molly recently lost her beloved mom, and through no fault of her own, she also lost her home. Her family was heartbroken and wants nothing more than to see her spend her golden years safe and loved again. Despite all the changes, Molly has remained the same incredibly sweet, good-natured girl and has settled beautifully into foster care. She just misses having her very own person. All Molly asks for is simple: • gentle pets • maybe a treat or three • a soft cushy doggie bed - she doesn't get on the furniture • and someone to keep company She would be a perfect companion for a retiree or someone who works from home. She’s an excellent listener, a loyal shadow, and a professional attention hound. If you have a soft spot for senior dogs—or if you’ve ever thought about opening your heart to a hospice pup—Molly would be endlessly grateful to spend her days loving you back. Sometimes the best dogs need the gentlest landings. And Molly? She is one of the very best. Apply today at haydudeequine.org and spend your days being adored!!
