Story
Meet Denali! I got him 3 years ago. Denali came with me through my first house purchase and move, and he was a peach the whole time. He is house trained and knows some basic commands. He isn't the most cuddly (sometimes he just prefers to lay on the couch alone), and he could for sure take burning some more energy throughout the day. Me alone and my small yard only provides so much. Recently, two additional dogs were placed on to me. After multiple intro attempts and MONTHS of keeping my house entirely split, he is unable to get to the point where having a multi-dog house is possible. He NEEDS to be an only pet, he has never been around kids. Admittedly, he needs caught up on shots as his behavior (and cost of mobile vets) has made it very difficult for me to manage. Unfortunately with the other two dogs not being able to find homes from my temporary care, it must be him to find somewhere better. Ideally a single adult/couple with reactive/dog-aggressive experience.

Story
Name: Maggie Age: 5 Years Gender: Spayed Female Weight: 50 pounds Breed: Heeler Mix Adoption Fee: $250 Am I good with: Kids: Yes Cats: Yes Dogs: Meet and Greet Required About Me: Hi, I'm Maggie, like the name suggests, I'm a classic, dependable girl with a spark of fun! I'm sweet as can be and still have a bit of pep in my step. I love spending time with my people, whether we're out for a walk or just hanging out together. I am heartworm positive, but don't worry, treatment is covered, and I'm already on the path to feeling better. I've got just the right mix of mellow and playful, and I'm ready to be your loyal companion through it all! I have been at the ARP since 6/27/25 and am currently at the rescue. The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed. Adoptions are NOT first come, first served! We seek to choose the best fit for the approved adopter and pet. Please understand that these animals are still new to us and their needs and requirements can change at any time as we learn more about them. We will try our best to get them updated online as soon as possible. All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws. All dogs are also microchipped. Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $50 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization. The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.

Story
Parker is a Male Aussie/Terrier mix DOB: June of 2025 Adoption fee: $200 We are playful pups. We are building confidence each week with increasing one-on-one time with helpful volunteers. Parker is a lovely boy who loves people. Paige might be a little shyer at first, but once she is comfortable in her environment, she is a typical rambunctious pup. Payton is a pistol who has a mind of his own but is very affiliative. Paxton is the voice of the group and has a knack for dramatic scenes. All are very smart and quick learners. These pups would truly be best with a physically fenced-in yard. It may be required. They are not fit for apartment life. Pending a meet and greet, we may do well with another dog, and children 8 years or older (possibly younger pending previous experience). We have not been around cats, with a slow positive introduction and a little obedience training, we should be fine with a dog-savvy cat. These pups will make a great companion for the right situation. We should be medium-sized when fully grown.

Wheeler Wheeler is a male Malinois/Aussie mix DOB: June 11th, 2025 Adoption fee: $200 I am a very energetic boy. I have a big voice, and I am not afraid to use it. I love to run and play with my siblings and toys. I enjoy attention, and I will seek it out! I am a very smart puppy ready to learn! I will need training. I am a sweet and loving boy; I even have a goofy side to me! I can be quite bossy at times. I will take work; I will need a lot of play time to get out my energy, I would love a job to do, and a lot of good stimulation and incentives! I will require someone with experience and knowledge of large dogs and herding breeds. I will require a fully fenced yard. I am not fit for an apartment. I should match with another dog pending a meet and greet. I have not been tested with cats at this time. I would do best with older children who respect my boundaries. I will require obedience training. I am already a big puppy, and I am sure to keep growing! I am a great boy! I know I will really enjoy going for walks, hikes, and anything active to get my energy out! I would make a great companion for the right people!
