Story
Say hello to Rusty! He is an almost 4-year-old cattle dog mix who was recently rescued from a difficult situation by animal control. Sadly, his previous owner passed away, and Rusty had been left on a chain outside for likely the majority of his life. Based on how he acts coming inside, it's likely that he hasn't spent a whole lot of time indoors. But it is very clear that he never missed a meal. As a result, he is currently overweight and will require a family who is committed to helping him shed some pounds and get back in shape. The most important thing about Rusty, though, is that he has an awesome personality and is an incredibly gentle and loving dog. He has been introduced to dogs and has done well, though he would be happier in a more calm environment. For a cattle dog, he is a lot more mild mannered than you might think- though that may be a result of his extra fluffiness. He loves attention and affection, and is always trying to figure out how to fit in your lap. We are absolutely certain that Rusty is going to thrive in a home where he can receive plenty of love, attention, training, socialization, and exercise! We would love to see him go to an active family or individual who would like to spend plenty of time outside with, in a situation that is committed to help him maintain a healthier lifestyle. At the end of the day, Rusty is a sweet and loving dog who deserves a second chance at a happy life. With patience, love, and proper care, Rusty will make a wonderful addition to any family! Story
Meet Hank, a handsome 3-year-old cattle dog mix who is looking for his forever home! This happy and bubbly boy was unfortunately surrendered by his previous owner who found his energy and activity level a bit too much to handle. But don't let that fool you - Hank's exuberance is part of what makes him so special! Hank is a true charmer with his wiggly butt and wagging tail that never seems to stop. He's always ready for a walk and would love a family who could keep up with him while he plays and explores. Hank is an active dog and needs plenty of exercise to keep him happy and healthy. He would do well in a home with a large yard or an active owner who enjoys hiking or running. With his love of the outdoors, Hank would make the perfect adventure buddy for a like-minded individual or family. Despite his energy levels, Hank is an absolute sweetheart. He's a social butterfly who adores meeting new people and other friendly dogs. Here at the shelter, he goes out in a play group and does well. We know that he is a true lover who will shower you with affection and keep you entertained with his antics. He's the kind of dog who will brighten your day with his infectious enthusiasm and unwavering joy. Hank is so ready to embark on a new chapter of his life with that special forever family who is willing to put in the effort to help Hank reach his full potential. He's a absolute gem of a dog, and whoever adopts him will be rewarded with boundless love and loyalty at the end of the day. So what are you waiting for!? Come experience the joy and unconditional love that only a furry friend can bring! Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 55.6 Age: 3yrs 0mths 0wks

Story
- He’s blind in one eye. He was abused. - Chill for his breed. He doesn’t “get” toys, but he’ll play chase with you. -SUPER food motivated, and super trainable. - Very gentle with kids and cats and reptiles. Huge dogs can make him nervous. - Trained to tolerate bikes, motorbikes, cars, and trucks, but still doesn’t love them. Definitely would do best in a more rural situation. - Gets protective over where he sleeps, and can get a little food-aversive when he’s nervous. - Has strong boundaries, and will establish them in the “herding dog” way (warning bites and growls/barks). - Shy with new people. Doesn’t love having adult humans immediately get up in his face and waving food around. - VERY wary around men and masculine-leaning folks because of his abuse history. Has built good relationships with men in the past though – just takes more time. Marco would thrive in a rural home with 1-2 humans and a couple of chill dog or cat friends. He’s a great dog, honestly.
