Story
Meet Eureka! Eureka is a 4.5-year-old Blue Heeler/Shepherd mix with a gentle soul and a curious spirit. This sweet girl walks beautifully on a leash and absolutely loves getting out to explore the world around her—especially if there are new scents to sniff along the way! Eureka is dog-friendly and enjoys the company of other pups with proper introductions. Her compatibility with cats is currently unknown. She would make a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys peaceful walks and letting their dog take in all the sights and smells. If you’re looking for a calm, sweet, and loyal walking buddy, Eureka may be your perfect match! She does get nervous around new people, but does warm up!

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation. If you are new to German Shepherds (and other herding breeds), please research the breed to make sure this is the dog for you. We ask that you consider the time and financial commitment that your German Shepherd (or other herding breed) dog will require before applying for one. Please review the section on our website (www.heartlandgsrescue.org) 'Is a HUGS Dog Right for You?' for additional information. Do you like Squirrels with bright eyes and fluffy tails? Little Miss Squirrel is an adorable three-year-old Cattle Dog mix with thoughtful intelligence. When she smiles, it’s like the sun is coming out. Squirrel would love to live with an individual or a couple for whom she can provide nighttime cuddles and daytime window security services. She has completed several Dog Training classes and one of her favorite games is 15-minute “Training” to learn anything new from Agility commands to Tricks which she learns quickly. Squirrel loves to snuggle, play her Brain Games, and snooze next to her people while they work. Although she is young, Squirrel is very calm and somewhat low energy. She loves car rides and long walks. She is great at the vet’s office, grooming, and nail trims. Squirrel’s Cattle Dog genes show in her willingness to enforce compliance with household rules. Although it is endearing to many humans, few dogs find it a compatible lifestyle, and small children may not want her as a governess. Neighborhood cats have thought it fun to walk the top of the fence and torment her, so her cat friendliness is uncertain at this time. Squirrel's adoption fee is $275, all of which goes back into offsetting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs.  We are a 100% volunteer-run rescue group and rely on adoption fees and donations to continue saving lives. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (and treated if positive), and microchipped. Please visit http://heartlandgsrescue.rescuegroups.org/info/adoption for more information about our adoption process and requirements, and to apply.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please review the information in the 'About Us', 'Important Considerations' and 'Adopt' sections on our website menu, as it contains useful information about the breed, adoption fees, the adoption process and our requirements, and how meeting the dogs works.April 15, 2026, 2:46 am

Dale spent Christmas and New Year's with us......but he would rather have been with YOU! 🐾❤️ He bravely beat parvo when he was only 8 weeks old.....and now he is a healthy 10 month old who is smart and eager to please. He’s looking for an active person or family who can keep up with his energy and help him continue learning and growing. A secure, fenced-in yard is a must so Dale can safely run, play, and just be a happy young dog. He is already a good size at around 60lbs. Dale is fully vetted, neutered, and microchipped. All he’s missing is a home—and the love that comes with it. 💔➡️❤️ If you’ve been looking for a loyal companion and are ready to give a deserving pup his happy ending, Dale may be the one you’ve been waiting for. Please share to help Dale find his forever family.

Story
Meet Que! I am smart as a whip and quick like one too. I would love to have a home where I get to work or have regular training to work my brain. Cattle dogs are known for their high intelligence and working ability and I love to show mine off. Huskies are known for their high energy and love for exercise. I am a great combo of both breeds. I am still just a pup so it`s a great time to start my training. Are you ready for all the fun I could bring to a family? I am micro chipped.

Winston - Deaf Dogs Hear with Their Hearts Hello world I'm Winston....please don't mind me as I practice my sign language! You see, I'm hearing impaired, but I am super smart so I use hand signs to communicate! I have been waiting a while for my perfect home, but I will be a great companion once I find the right match. I will need SEVERAL MEETS before adoption, as I am people selective and it takes me a bit to get to know and trust someone. I'm a two year old who is a happy, handsome fella with gorgeous baby blues and would love to be someone's one and only. Once I trust them, I'd love for them to take me on walks/runs, play fetch, toss me toys, snuggle with me and teach me new commands! I do have a few requirements, though: I NEED A FENCED IN YARD, AN EXPERIENCED OWNER AND MUST BE AN ONLY DOG. So, if you have enough time, patience, dogs skills and can go slow with me, I will learn to trust you and be your loyal forever boy. No apartments please! Also, small children make me really nervous as I can't hear them so teenagers and adults only. I also prefer a house that won't be active with too many strangers coming and going but am crate trained, if needed. I currently living with a trainer and she loves me so much that she will provide continued training help for my whole life! I haven't had many good experiences in my life yet, so I'd love to be your loyal best new friend, if you have time to devote to me! Want to meet me and see how amazing we can be together? Please apply at www.nalarescue.org to adopt or for more information. All shots, boosters, rabies, spay/neuter, and microchip is included in NALA Rescue's Adoption donation fee. All meets are scheduled by appointment only once an application is approved. Please apply at www.nalarescue.org and if approved we will reach out to the applicant and answer all questions. All dogs/puppies are available until they are removed from this site so please no inquires if a dog is available.

Story
Meet Danni! Danni is a 5-year-old Cattle Dog mix with a playful spirit and a serious love for fetch—she’s pretty sure she’s headed for the big leagues someday! According to her foster dad, she’d happily chase a ball from sunrise to sunset if you let her. She enjoys long walks, squeaky toys, belly rubs, butt scratches, and cozy cuddle time on the couch or bed. Danni already knows helpful basics like sit and waiting politely for meals or doorways, and she’s currently working on skills like paw, lay down, and stay. She’s also potty trained and does a great job relaxing in her own space during the day! Danni can be sensitive to loud noises and may need a little reassurance in new situations (car rides included), but once she feels safe, she’s happy to tag along on all your adventures. She has shown some resource-guarding tendencies in the past, so a home without small children is recommended. While she’s not especially interested in other dogs, she can easily ignore them when she’s focused on something she loves—like fetch! Danni also has manageable allergies and does well with a simple daily medication. Though she may be a bit shy at first, Danni forms deep, lasting bonds with people who offer patience, consistency, and kindness. Once she trusts you, her affectionate, loyal personality truly shines. You’ll be rewarded with her adorable “spin dance,” happy wiggles, and the sweetest, most expressive smiles. Danni is ready to find someone special to call her own—could it be you?   Danni is currently with Town & Country Animal Rescue and is patiently waiting for her forever home. The adoption fee is $350** and covers age appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter. The adoption fee helps cover the cost of these vetting procedures. If you want to meet this pet, or are interested in adopting, please submit an application.  **Part of Danni's adoption fee is sponsored by someone who loves her very much! Her adoption fee is now $100** We're open from 12-4 PM Tuesday - Saturday! Did you know you don't need to have an appointment to visit our available cats and dogs***? Simply drop by and if you find a potential new furry friend, you can fill out an application on the day you visit. Go to townandcountryanimalrescue.org to fill out our digital application. Applications are typically processed in 3-5 business days. Once you're approved, you can return on the date and time set up by your adoption counselor, with your family and pets for a meet and greet. If it goes well, you can take your new best friend home on the meet and greet day! ***Please note that animals in foster homes cannot be viewed at our rescue, and appointments are still required to meet them.
