Rocket is soon to be `paw-roled` from our Paws in the Pen program in partnership with the New Mexico Corrections Department! Each dog is paired with two inmate trainers and enrolled in an 8-week training program that is designed to equip the dog with a nice foundation of training that will help them succeed in their new home. Each of these dogs will go home potty and crate trained with a whole list of cues and basic behaviors; to ensure a successful adoption, we are providing four training sessions to adopters, so you can learn what your dog knows, and an invitation to weekly discounted drop-in classes. These dogs also go home with a biothane leash and collar, 6 months of heartworm prevention, are fully up-to-date on all vaccines and medications, and are spayed and neutered.Rocket is a 1-year-old cattle dog mix, who is truly a patchwork of colors and personality. Named after Rocket Raccoon from Guardians of the Galaxy, he lives up to his namesake with a curious streak and a talent for getting into mischief in the most charming way. One minute he’s snuggling sweetly… the next, your chapstick has mysteriously vanished from your shirt pocket! Don`t worry, you`ll likely find it in his treasure trove of objects found sneakily hoarded in his crate.Rocket is great at fetch and just as great at settling down for a well-earned nap afterward. He has a wonderful balance of playful energy and relaxation, making him a fun yet easygoing companion.With his unique look and expressive nature, Rocket is a dog you won’t forget. He may take a little time to warm up, but once he gets to know his people, his affectionate and loyal side shines through. She was born Aug 26, 2021 on one of the reservations we work with. She weighs #34. Please do not call - EMAIL ONLY!
