Story
Meelo is a sweet 50 lb Beagle mix, approx. eight yrs old. He was left outdoors in the elements his entire life prior to being surrendered to the shelter and has adjusted well to living indoors in a comfy home. He is happy, energetic and friendly towards people and other dogs. Some favorite activities include: sniffing around the yard, napping on the couch with his canine buddy, enjoying treats and chew toys, but best of all --being close to his person. He is on medication to control seizures and undergoing slow kill heartworm treatment. He has been through a lot and still has some anxiety so needs someone who works from home or is retired since he wants and needs the company! Meelo has great house manners and can be left alone for an reasonable length of time and no longer needs or wants to be in a crate. He is not an apartment dog and a fenced- in yard is needed. He currently lives with another senior but may be fine as a only dog. This dog is available and everything we know about this dog is included in the dog’s description. We are only able to respond to questions once a completed application is received https://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. We do not respond to questions about our dogs sent through email or social media. Excellent vet references and a virtual home visit required. Your prior or current dog must be on year-round heartworm prevention. We transport by land or air whenever possible. Unless there is definitive documentation our breed and age assessments are based on visual appearances.April 27, 2024, 11:36 am

Story
Hello! My name is Odie and I’m a handsome Australian Cattle Dog with a lot of love to give my new forever owner. I love to play fetch and go for long walks, but what I really want is a farm or big fenced in yard to stretch my legs! I’m a high-energy fella with a few puppy traits that still need to be worked on. I can sit, stay, shake and spin on command, and I’m an absolute dream on a leash. But off leash I tend to want to jump and herd my furry friends and humans. If someone could give me a job to do I would love that! Please be aware that, due to my breed and age, I’m not new dog owner friendly. I do well with other dogs but I do love to play, so please don’t take me home to older dogs that can’t play anymore.
