Story
Meet Carbonara!! 🍝 She came in as a stray on 10/23/25, and we think this lovely lady is about 8 years old. This pretty girl is currently on a wellness journey (a.k.a. she’s on a diet!). Photos don’t quite capture it, but she’s got a few extra noodles in her bowl, if you know what we mean. Once she sheds those extra pounds, she’ll feel lighter, happier, and ready to strut her stuff like the fabulous diva she is. Carbonara is as sweet and friendly as they come. She’s looking for someone who will love her, cheer her on, and maybe share a few carrot sticks instead of cookies. In return, she’ll adore you forever and be so grateful for helping her get her sparkle back! ✨ She’s available for adoption now—so hurry in to meet her! 📍 Carbonara is located at the Richland County Dog Shelter in Mansfield, OH 📞 419-774-5892 📧 It is an application process — request one at dogs@richlandcountyoh.gov

Story
Meet Indra! This adorable thing is a female Cattle Dog/Mountain Cur Mix who is 11 weeks old (DOB 9/26/25) who currently weighs 10.6 pounds. She is all things puppy! Clumsy, nosy, naps alot, no sense of personal space and did we mention adorable?! We are predicting she will be less than 50 pounds when full grown, but we have not seen mom or dad, so there is no guarantee. Indra will be spayed on December 17 and will be available on December 18, 19 or 20. This dog will need consistent training and socialization, as well as A LOT of physical and mental stimulation. She is going to try to herd everything in sight. If you aren't committed to the training, this is not the dog for you. We are not likely to approve this dog to an apartment dweller. Australian Cattle Dogs (ACDs) can be excellent, loyal, and rewarding pets for the right active family that understands their high energy, intelligence, and need for a "job," but they are not ideal for sedentary owners or first-timers, as they require significant physical and mental stimulation, proper training, and early socialization to prevent destructive behaviors or herding/nipping at kids. They bond deeply with their owners, making them devoted companions, but their intense protective nature and herding instincts need an outlet. According to Google, the Mountain Cur's high energy levels mean they need regular exercise and mental stimulation to keep them happy and healthy. Mountain Cur dogs do best in a home with an active, outdoorsy family who spends their weekends hiking, hunting, or just hanging out in their fenced-in yard They are naturally courageous, intelligent, and loyal, with strong protective instincts that make them excellent watchdogs. They are a high prey drive driven working dog with a loud bark. Getting them as a puppy and training them properly is key. Indra is a cast off from an high volume breeder in Amish country who came in as part of a load of rescues. That doesn't mean there is anything wrong with these dogs. They could have been the wrong color, size, fur, whatever. We are lucky enough to work with a vet in the area who cares enough to scoop up these dogs and get them adopted instead of ........?? Adoption fee is $500 All Ashland County Humane Society animals' adoption fees include: ~spay/neuter ~micro-chip ~de-worming ~vaccinations, including rabies ~heartworm prevention If you are interested in adopting this dog, please visit: www.ashlandhumane.org/adoption-application (copy and paste link to address bar) for a printable application. Complete and email back to applications@AshlandHumane.org We are an all volunteer-based organization that does not have a building or a staff, only 8 members with jobs and families, trying to make a difference. We do not have the volunteer manpower to show animals to non-approved applicants. If your application gets screened and approved, we will contact you to arrange a meet and greet and you can decide if this is the right pet for you. Thank you for understanding! We definitely want all our rescued animals to find great families! Thank you for your interest in a Rescue Pet! Adopt, don't shop! The post will be removed when we get several applications to give our volunteer time to screen them. Adoption Fee is $500

Meet Crystal, a beautiful 1½-year-old white cattle dog mix who’s ready to trade in her mom duties for a little “me time!” After raising a litter of adorable pups, Crystal is eager to be the star of the show and find a home where she can shine. True to her breed, Crystal is happiest when she’s outside with room to run and explore. She loves other dogs and would thrive in a home with canine friends and plenty of space to stretch her legs.
