History:Surrendered by owner as they could no longer look after, Calleen and her siblings (5 females and 2 males) are looking for Foster or Foster2Adopt Homes, especially over the Holidays. These precious 5 week old babies are too young to be away from Mom BUT 1.5-year-old Mom is depleted and is very ready to have a life without having babies. She is resting lots, gaining strength daily, finding her own space.

Story
Rocket / Male / 1 year / 50 pounds / Australian Cattle Dog Mix / Good with Dogs / No Children Please / Untested with Cats / From Tennessee / Fostered in Mississauga **Follow Rocket’s journey on Instagram @fetching.n.fostering Meet Rocket! Rocket came to us from our partner in Tennessee where he has spent most of his life. We are happy to have this sweet, goofy boy in our care so he can find his forever home! Rocket is described by his fosters as a big lover. He will never pass up an opportunity to give out hugs and kisses. Rocket can often be found playing with his toys, hopping on the couch, or stretched out on the floor in the cutest sploot. He loves to make new friends and charms everyone with his quirky personality. With people he knows, Rocket is very friendly and will offer lots of affection. When meeting new people, Rocket is curious and friendly, but can be nervous at times. Slow introductions are best for him. Rocket has not met any children while in our care. Due to his breed and herding tendencies we do not recommend him joining a home with young children. Rocket is gradually learning the joys of home life. He is best suited for a home in a quieter area as high traffic areas and noises can make him nervous. A home with a backyard would be ideal as he loves to run and play, but if given opportunities to get out and explore greenspace he would do well. Rocket is very dog social. He loves to make new friends and play. He currently lives with another dog and is respectful of his boundaries. Rocket would do well to join a home with another canine pal, but would also do well as the only one so long as he is given opportunities to socialize. Rocket has not met cats while in our care. With proper introductions we think he could join a home with cats. Rocket's breed is known for its herding instincts, so it's essential that his future family understands his unique needs. Mental enrichment, such as slow feeders and puzzle toys, combined with intentional physical exercise, like walks, tug-of-war, and fetch, will be key to keeping Rocket both physically and mentally happy. For those looking to go above and beyond, activities like agility or other training will provide the perfect outlet for his abundant energy. Rocket is new to walking on leash and will take time and patience as he learns his leash manners. When it comes to training, Rocket is a blank slate. His new family should be prepared and dedicated to continue working with him on the basics. Helping him learn the essential commands like sit, down, and stay will be necessary. Rocket is crate trained and potty trained, but may have some regression with the transition to a new home. Having spent his entire life outdoors, patience with him in his training is crucial. Rocket is a flight risk and our top priority in his furever home is safety. His forever family must take precautions to keep him safe and secure, including the purchase of a GPS tracker which will be required for adoption. Young and eager to impress, Rocket is destined to be the heartwarming addition to your family that you've been searching for. Don't miss the chance to make him your very own. Contact us today and let Rocket rocket his way into your life, bringing boundless love, laughter, and energy to your home. He's ready to shine bright in his forever family's sky! If you’re interested in adopting Rocket, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Rocket's adoption fee is $850. Archie is available for Foster to Adopt!! ***Please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form*** As a foster-to-adopt family, you will have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until their new forever family can be found. During your foster-to-adopt trial, you’ll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have. Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit. Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Archie / M / 6Y / 78 lbs / Blue Heeler Mix / Loves Dogs / No Kids Please / Good Second Dog / Not Cat Tested / Local Surrender / Fostered in Toronto **Follow Archie's journey on Instagram at @woodstamfam** Meet Archie! Archie is a sweet, goofy, affectionate boy once he gets to know you. He loves playing with squeaky toys, carrying his stuffed toys around the house and nibbling on pig ear treats (supervised, of course). He is happy playing fetch or sniffing around any toys full of treats he can find. He’s an amazing work-from-home companion and will fall asleep at your feet during the day. You can count on him to show off his tricks and he will always let you know when he wants to play fetch! Archie has been in Canada for 5 years, having previously arrived with his siblings as puppies. Since then, he was adopted but his family added a baby to the household, and poor Archie was not a fan and was quite jealous. Because of this, Archie was surrendered back to us and is currently in foster care looking for a new home without any young kids so he can soak up all the attention. Archie would love to be in a home in the suburbs with a fenced backyard so he can run around and play. He is fearful of unexpected sounds on walks, but with a patient and gentle approach he is learning to walk without pulling. While he builds his confidence, it would be great if he had a back yard to help him burn off some energy. He is medium energy and currently gets his exercise in the backyard or other fenced in areas. Archie is a flight risk so it is important he is kept on a leash when outdoors or in a fenced-in area. Archie currently goes on 2 walks per day that last between 10 and 15 minutes and he does need some gentle guidance as he gets distracted about the idea of going home, getting into a car and will pull away from loud noises. Archie is very friendly with people he knows and is playful and cuddly. His current family always asks new guests to let Archie come to them when they enter the home and, though initially a little nervous, he soon goes over to make a new friend. Archie is comfortable around other dogs and behaves well when socializing off leash. He would do best with a canine companion to show him the ropes. Archie is potty and crate-trained and is comfortable being left alone during the day for up to five hours. He sleeps well throughout the night either in his crate with the door open or on another spot on the floor. He loves predictability and routine and is fearful of loud noises like thunder, fireworks, construction, and loud vehicles. Indoors, he knows commands like sit, come, lie down, head down, up, stand, spin, touch, speak, and even play dead - he is treat-motivated indoors and a quick learner! Outdoors, his nerves get the best of him and he is not as attentive and does not have great recall. He is looking for a family that will continue to work with him on this. Archie has environmental allergies and takes medication for this, which is partially covered by pet insurance already in place. Adopters can convert this over to them once adopted. To ensure Archie is set up for life-long success, his new family will be required to sign up for and complete 3 training classes with an approved, positive-reinforcement based professional trainer (proof required). Details to be discussed upon application. If you’re interested in fostering with the intention of adopting Archie, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Archie’s adoption fee is $250. FOSTER-TO-ADOPT HOMES NEEDED!! ***Please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form*** We would love to welcome Bluefin into the Fetch + Releash family on July 7th (subject to change). In order for Bluefin to come into our care, we need a committed family. As a foster-to-adopt family, you'll be expected to take him home on his arrival date. You will then have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until their new forever family can be found. Each bio was created by our rescue partners based on their interactions with the dogs. Fetch + Releash has a full disclosure policy however we cannot guarantee a dog against parasites or diseases, nor can we guarantee a dog's nature/behaviour. Many of these dogs are coming directly from the shelter and so you should expect there to be a transitional period. Be prepared to deal with common issues like potty training, leash walking, and socialization. Cat and kid safety assessments are often based on their personality and not necessarily on actual interactions. Where possible, the majority of vetting will be completed prior to coming to Canada, however, foster-to-adopt families may be required to travel to our partner vet in Mississauga, ON for further vet care. During your foster-to-adopt trial, you'll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bluefin / Male / 3.5 years old / 65 pounds / Australian Cattle Dog / from Tennessee Meet Bluefin, this shy but spunky boy is seeking a patient and caring home to show him the good life! Bluefin was found as a stray. Although we don’t know his past, he is more timid around strangers but is eager for affection once he’s learned he can trust you. Bluefin is independent, yet enjoys playtime with dogs of similar temperament and would benefit from a confident resident dog to show him the world isn't scary. With an unknown past, he requires work on training, from the basics and beyond. He's treat-motivated, making positive progress through training achievable. Bluefin prefers a leash-free space, so a home with a yard is ideal, and a harness can aid in positive leash associations. We are not aware if Bluefin has house or crate exposure, but he finds comfort in his safe space like his dog house and would benefit from a special crate/dog bed he can resort to for space. To help him thrive, Bluefin needs an experienced and family in a calm and quiet environment that can offer him patience to build his confidence. He will require time to decompress and his family should respect his need for space as he adjusts. He is best suited for a home with older or no kids as a loud and hectic environment may prevent him from opening up. Don't miss his unique quirk – his tail wags up and down instead of side to side, adding to his irresistible charm. If you're ready to provide a loving home, Bluefin is ready to steal your heart with his sweet personality and charming tail wags. Bluefin tested positive for Ehrlichia which is a common tick-borne disease that stays in the bloodstream for many years. This has been treated and, moving forward, regular yearly bloodwork would be recommended. Although this should not cause any issues moving forward, it's important that if Bluefin requires surgery or dental work in the future, pre-operative blood work (CBC+Platelet count) should be completed beforehand. If you’re interested in fostering with the intention of adopting, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Bluefin’s adoption fee is $850. To learn more about our adoption fees and the foster-to-adopt process, please visit our FAQs at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/about-us#about-faqs.
