Story
This puppy is in Tennessee. Adoption Donation FREE if picked up in TN, $100 plus transport fee for out-of-state adoptions. She has been waiting for a new home since August, 2024! Meet Millie — a vibrant, playful, and loyal heeler mix with a heart as big as her boundless energy. Weighing in at around 40 pounds, this athletic beauty is the perfect mix of fun-loving and focused. Whether she’s racing through the yard in a game of chase, hiking alongside you on a scenic trail, or splashing in a creek, Millie is always up for an adventure. But don’t let her high energy fool you — when it’s time to settle down, she has a wonderful off switch and is more than happy to curl up for some well-earned snuggles. Millie’s personality is a joyful blend of herding instinct, protective devotion, and eager-to-please enthusiasm. She adores playing with other dogs, especially those her own size who can keep up with her wrestling and tug-of-war skills. She’s friendly with cats and smaller pups too, but she prefers not to hold back, so bigger dog friends are her favorite. Millie is particularly sweet and protective with the dogs in her foster home — she even steps in to “defend” her pals at the park if someone’s picking on them. Her protective instincts don’t come from aggression but from a deeply rooted desire to care for her pack. Her love for people shines just as brightly. Millie absolutely adores her humans — especially children — and has become much more confident and trusting, even with strangers. She has a heartwarming ritual of running to greet her favorite familiar faces at the dog park, tail wagging with pure excitement. She’s also smart as a whip and incredibly trainable. She already knows: sit, stay, touch, come, and drop it, and she’s working hard on “down.” Both food and toys are high-value rewards for her, so she’s eager to learn and please.  At home, Millie is quiet and content in her crate and fully house-trained, though she does have a chicken allergy, so a diet made for sensitive dogs keeps everything running smoothly. She's also calm in the car and enjoys the ride, but on walks, she’ll need a little help resisting the urge to chase squirrels or cars — a front-hook harness and a bit of distraction go a long way. Millie is the kind of dog who would thrive with an active family or outdoorsy individual who’s ready to include her in their everyday fun. She’d be a fantastic fit for someone who hikes, has a big yard, or even a farm where she can stretch her legs and have a sense of purpose. A playful dog buddy her size and kids who love to run and play would make her heart sing. If you’re looking for a loyal, trainable, affectionate companion who’s full of life and eager to be part of your team, Millie just might be your perfect match.    Interested in adopting? Story
This dog is in Tennessee. Adoption Donation $0 - WAIVED if picked up in TN Meet Batman, the playful and happy 2-year-old mixed breed pup who weighs in at about 50 pounds. We think he might be part Cattle Dog, German Shepherd, and Husky. Batman is an expert at catching treats and playing tug with a dog or person. He explores his toy box several times a day to pick out a toy to take to his dog bed or out to the deck to relax. He is housetrained and quickly learned to use the dog door. He sleeps in an open crate and is well-behaved when crated with a chew toy. Batman enjoys sharing toys with other dogs, taking trail walks, chasing balls and being petted. Batman’s shy and timid but affectionate nature with people makes him a wonderful companion for an understanding person. Even though he was very scared when he was first rescued, Batman has matured and is a friendly dog who smiles a lot, showcasing his joyful spirit. Batman has never shown aggression. He seems to love every dog he meets and welcomes visitors in his foster’s home – especially if they come with a dog. He loves spending time with a 13-year-old boy who visits. He is quiet in the car, loves walking on trails and enjoys laying near his foster in the evening usually with his head touching her leg letting her know he is ready for affection or he naps peacefully on a nearby dog bed. Batman knows several commands, including "Come," "No," "Sit," and "Wait at the door." Batman would thrive in a calm home with another playful dog, a securely fenced yard, and a dog-savvy family willing to be patient as he adjusts to his new environment. He enjoys affection, often entertains himself with toys, and is very appreciative of regular meals and a stable routine. Batman is ready to bring joy and love to a new family who can offer him the same in return. Interested? Apply to adopt today.  Interested in adopting? Story
This dog is in Tennessee. Adoption Donation $200 if picked up in TN, $275 plus transport fee for out-of-state adoptions. Meet Lorelai — a bright, affectionate, and endlessly fun-loving companion who's looking for a home as energetic and full of life as she is! At 41 lbs, this joyful girl may be listed as 4 years old by the shelter, but she brings the playful spirit and curiosity of a much younger pup. With a colorful mix of breeds in her DNA, Lorelai’s unique personality shines through in everything she does — from her boundless enthusiasm for playtime to her heartwarming snuggles when the day winds down. Lorelai is a smart and active girl who thrives on structure and connection. She’s highly motivated and picks up on routines quickly, often learning by watching the other dogs in her foster home. She knows “sit” well and is currently working on “stay,” “shake,” and polite greetings (she’s just  so  excited to meet you, sometimes she forgets not to jump!). She’s also fully house-trained and lets you know when it’s time to go out by heading to the door or giving a little bark. When it’s time to settle, Lorelai happily heads to her crate, especially when there’s a delicious meal or a stuffed Kong waiting for her. She’s great in the car and walks nicely on leash, adjusting quickly to new experiences with a little patience and encouragement. Lorelai absolutely loves having toys to chew and play with, and when she’s not romping around with her doggy friends, you’ll often find her curled up with a soft stuffed toy for a good cuddle. Social and affectionate, Lorelai is wonderful with people and other dogs, making her an ideal family dog or a great match for a single person or couple ready to invest time and love into an active new best friend. While she’s not a fit for homes with livestock, she does great in just about every other setting — especially if there’s room to run and people to play with. At the end of the day, after all the zoomies and play sessions, Lorelai turns into a snuggly lovebug, ready to curl up on the couch or in bed with her human for some well-earned relaxation. She’s the perfect mix of energy and heart — a companion who will keep you moving, keep you laughing, and fill your life with unconditional love. Are you ready to meet the sweetest, silliest new member of your family? Lorelai can’t wait to meet you!  Interested in adopting? Story
Thanks to a generous donor, my adoption fee has been reduced to $40 Lazlo – a sweet soul who needs a special kind of love. Lazlo is a 1.5-year-old neutered male Australian Shepherd mix with a friendly, fun-loving personality. He arrived at the shelter as a stray and quickly stole everyone’s heart with his love for treats, gentle walks, and affection from people. Sadly, Lazlo is battling heartworm disease. He’s currently undergoing treatment, which has been generously covered in part by the shelter and friendsofcpcanimals.org. But he needs a very calm, quiet environment to recover safely — too much movement or excitement could be dangerous for him right now. Lazlo must be the only pet in the home, and he would thrive with someone who can give him the time, patience, and love he needs to heal. He enjoys being petted, spoiled, and spending quality time with his people. While most of his treatment has been covered, there could still be additional expenses. If you have questions, please reach out to the shelter manager for more information. Story
This dog is in Tennessee. Adoption Donation $200 if picked up in TN, $275 plus transport fee for out-of-state adoptions. Meet Dino, a high-energy, wiggly, and eager-to-please Australian Shepherd mix with a sleek black coat. At just over a year old and weighing 50 lbs, he's always ready for fun and affection. His whole body wiggles with excitement, right down to his little nub tail, and he absolutely loves flopping over for belly rubs. He knows how to sit and will go into his crate for a treat. Being food-motivated, he’s eager to learn more commands. Housetrained, he does well with both a fenced yard and leash walks. While he doesn’t love the crate, he settles in and sleeps when needed. Dino enjoys playing fetch, running with other dogs, and getting as much attention and petting as possible. He prefers not to be left alone but simply expresses this by barking. He has a big, loud bark and he does like to talk at times. He also has a happy voice when he's excited and getting belly rubs. Dino gets along well with other dogs, is polite to cats, and has been reported to do well with kids. He takes a few minutes to warm up to new people, but quickly becomes a lovebug. On leash, he’s still learning manners but enjoys his walks. He rides fine in the car but may need a little help getting in. Dino would thrive in an active home where he gets plenty of exercise and, ideally, has a dog friend to play with. Interested in bringing Dino into your heart and home? THIS PET IS FOSTERED IN TENNESSEE! We do list and adopt our pets nationwide. Typical transport cost to the Northeast is $180. Due to interstate adoption regulations, we are not able to adopt to RI and MA state residents. A.A.R.F. (All About Rescue and Fixin' Inc.) http://aarf-tn.com/ is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) no kill animal rescue organization located in the Upper Cumberland area of Tennessee. A.A.R.F. is comprised of unpaid volunteers and survives only on public donations. Thank you for thinking adoption first! Prior to adoption, all canines and felines are spayed or neutered, have received their age appropriate vaccinations, have been de-wormed for common parasites, and have received treatment for prevention of fleas and ticks. All canines over the age of 6 months have been tested for heartworm. All canines are put on heartworm prevention as soon as possible - this means dogs as soon as they are tested negative. Puppies are put on prevention immediately. All felines, regardless of age, have been tested for Feline Leukemia/FIV. Each animal receives a health check by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption. Anything else found will be treated by our organization prior to adoption. May 14, 2025, 4:47 pm
