Story
Meet Bleu! His owners say that Bleu is a very sweet pup! He just wants to cuddle up and be near you! He'll often flop on top of you and just lay there. He loves to play frisbee and is very well coordinated when it comes to catch. He has a tire swing he loves to play with as well! It would make Bleu the happiest dog in the world to have a yard to be able to run around and play in to get some of his energy out from time to time! If you are interested in Bleu, please contact Dekota at (757) 477-7412 or dekotal13@gmail.com.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hale has been with foster caregiver for over a year now. He has always lived outdoors, and is satisfied with having a fenced area all to himself, although he does tolerate visits from other canines. He is lovingly called “Old Man” and even though he can be crotchety, he has had a rough time and we forgive him. (Hale recently lost his human, and was one of eight working dogs left behind. The others have found homes with adopters or rescues, but Hale has a tough time adapting.)   The teens in this family have spent time working to befriend him, and have seem him happy and wiggly as well as the “don’t touch my backside” side of him. We would love for him to find a home with a farm, where he can work if he wants to, and hang out if he wants to. He does not need to be in a home as he has always been outside. He did visit another home for about two weeks, and we hoped it might work as a Forever situation, but unfortunately, old man focused on the rabbits who lived in the house, and all he could think about was pursuit. He was doing well with his house training in the time he was there, so we feel like if an outdoor home is not necessarily ideal, he could live in a house if he wanted to as long as he had access to the outdoors.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 3, 2024, 4:13 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sammy is a six year old “mini” sized Australian cattle dog whose uneventful life was filled with producing puppies, litter after litter, in an outdoor kennel area.  Sammy will need a physically fenced area, (no invisible fences for her!)  and she will benefit from another nice dog, on the smaller side rather than large. She has finally accepted both female dogs and male dogs, huge progress for her! And she wants a dog that is not going to be in her face or jumping all over her. That’s not too much to ask, is it? Sammy has been spayed, and has recovered nicely. We don’t know that she has any working dog instinct, since she was a puppy producer for her life. She did meet the shelter cat and was interested with no attempt to chase or eat him, which we think is promising! Sammy weighs about 30 pounds, is heartworm negative, and his current with vaccines. She is trying hard to be house trained! Because she was an outdoor dog before coming to the shelter, pottying outdoors is only natural. She has overcome being handshy and we worked hard to give her plenty of time to become comfortable with her new people.  To adopt, start with an application from our website: friendsofcampbellcounty.org. Sammy was brought to the shelter with two other friends from her family home. She lived with other dogs, and is a little stressed being at the shelter in a kennel run, since she was an outdoor dog at her first home. If you have patience and are willing to spend time with this little girl, teaching her to walk on a leash and get used to a collar, it might work really well for you! She is not going to be a dog that you can take home and have a best-friend companion immediately, because she has not been well socialized with new people or new situations in a house. We look forward to getting to know her better.     PLEASE NOTE: This pet has been posted by Friends of Campbell County Animal Control, Rustburg, VA. For questions about the pet, please email us at FOACinfo@gmail.com. All adoptions begin with an application, found under the "Animals" tab on our website, friendsofcampbellcounty.org. *Unaltered babies under the age of six months can be adopted only to residents of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, and counties touching Campbell County. *Unaltered adult pets six months or older will need to be sterilized before they can be adopted outside our local area of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, or counties touching Campbell. *We do not promote dog adoptions to homes where an invisible fence is the fencing of choice. *We do not permit cats or kittens to be declawed following adoption.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 3, 2024, 4:13 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.DAKOTA, 3 months old, appears to be an ACD/pittie mix, energetic and with no bite inhibition. He was picked up as a stray on Sunburst Road on April 23, and spent a couple days with our friends at the Bedford County animal shelter before being transferred to Campbell for care. Because Dakota doesn’t care who he grabs with those sharp little baby teeth, we determined it would  be best for him to be fostered during his hold time, and while we wait for his owner to come forward. Do you know where he belongs? If so, please call the shelter at 434-821-4416. We are currently not worried about placing him, because we really want him to become well adjusted and appropriately behaved before we send him anywhere. Story
How did this precious young lady end up as a stray? It appears that someone had previously worked with her and perhaps even trained her to be an indoor pet. She shows a strong desire to make her humans happy and is eager to please. She loves all humans, even the really small ones. She does well with cats, cows and other dogs as well. She loves to go for rides in anything. Leash walks are a breeze for Angel, showcasing her excellent behavior. Whoever welcomes Angel into their home will undoubtedly find themselves incredibly fortunate. She has all the qualities of an exceptional companion. Angel is a happy, healthy girl who is ready for her forever home. If you are interested in adopting me or any of my Funny Farm friends please visit funnyfarmpets.org to read all about our TN based rescue and how the adoption and transport process works, read about all the vetting I will have before coming home, and you will also find the link to submit the adoption application.
