🐾 Meet Rusty! 🐾 Rusty is a 9-month-old Australian Kelpie/Shepherd mix who has already overcome more than any puppy should ever have to. He is currently being fostered in Mississippi but can be transported to an area near you via Rescue Riders LLC Transport. Rusty came into rescue when he was just 3 months old after someone found him. At the time, he had what appeared to be a chemical burn running the entire length of his back. We don't know what happened to him or how he was injured, but thankfully, he made it into rescue and has been given the care and love he deserved. Rusty also suffered an eye injury. We don't know if it was related to what happened to his back, but unfortunately, his eye could not be saved and had to be removed. But losing an eye hasn't slowed this handsome boy down one bit! ❤️ Today, Rusty is a happy, healthy boy who is ready for his forever home. He has a medium activity level and enjoys going for walks, but he isn't looking for a home that never stops moving. He has great manners, gets along wonderfully with dogs of all ages, and does well in a crate. Rusty is the kind of dog who has been through a lot (and he may always have a scar going down the length of his back), but hasn't let it change his sweet spirit. Lila Lily has the kind of satellite ears that could pick up signals from three neighborhoods away and a personality sweet enough to win over just about anyone. She is affectionate from the moment she meets you and will happily climb right into your lap, lay on top of you, and love all over you. Lila is gentle, loyal, and the perfect mix of cuddly companion and adventure buddy. She can spend the day exploring with you and then come home ready to curl up close and enjoy a quiet evening together. She is not too big and not too small, but just right for joining you almost anywhere. We believe she may be an Australian Kelpie and Labrador Retriever mix, but with animal rescue, breed and age are always a mystery and our best guesses. When it comes to people, Lila is incredibly sweet and loving. She is affectionate even with new people and loves being close. Sit down on the floor with her, and she will gently settle against you while soaking up every bit of affection you are willing to give. She is very loyal to her people and has the kind of loving personality that makes it easy to imagine her becoming someone’s devoted best friend. We think Lila could potentially be a great dog for a family with children, and we would be happy to arrange for her to meet some kiddos. Just let us know if you would like to see how she does with children. Lila is dog friendly and has done well with the dogs we have introduced her to. She is not the type to immediately become best friends with a dog she has just met or jump straight into playtime. She prefers to take things a little slower, get acquainted, and decide how she feels before letting loose. Once she is comfortable, she will play occasionally and seems to prefer chase-style play over physical wrestling. She could do well with a medium-energy dog who will give her the time and space she needs to open up. Her new family should understand that it may take her a little while to become playful with another dog in the home. Lila would also be perfectly happy as your one and only fur baby, soaking up all the attention for herself. Lila also met our house cat, Biggie, and handled the introduction beautifully. She was appropriate and very respectful around him. She did not chase him and was not bothered by Biggie jumping around or doing all the unpredictable things cats like to do. Biggie felt comfortable around her too, which is always a great sign. We do not know whether Lila has ever lived with a cat, and this was our first time seeing her interact with one. If you have a cat in your home, we can arrange for Lila to have a sleepover with a cat upon request. Just let us know! Lila is crate trained and generally seems comfortable relaxing in her crate. So far, she has also shown us that she has great house manners and understands where the appropriate potty places are. As with any rescue dog adjusting to a new environment, she may need a little patience while learning her new routine. She loves treats, is eager to please, and already knows how to sit. She is not overly interested in toys right now, but that could change as she becomes comfortable and discovers which ones she likes. Her love of treats and desire to make her people happy should make continued training a fun way to strengthen your bond. Lila is easy to walk on leash and could be happy in a home with a yard, an apartment, or a townhome as long as she receives regular exercise and plenty of time with her people. She would be a wonderful companion for hikes and other adventures, but she is equally content staying home and cuddling with her favorite person. Britney Boop looks like a tiny fruit bat disguised as a dog, complete with enormous ears, big brown doe eyes, and a face that somehow makes everything she does ridiculously adorable. She is one of those dogs who can simply exist in the same room and still make you smile. Whether she is curled up beside you for belly rubs, quietly enjoying a car ride, or tossing her favorite toy around like she has just discovered the greatest invention of all time, Britney brings a little extra happiness everywhere she goes. Do not let her pictures fool you because she is a compact little girl who is not too big and not too small. We believe she may be an Australian Kelpie and Miniature Shepherd mix, but with animal rescue, breed and age are always a mystery and our best guesses. Around people, Britney is gentle, loving, happy, and wonderfully easy to be around. She loves attention, affection, belly rubs, and curling up right beside her person for a good cuddle. She can be active and playful when the moment calls for it, but inside the home she is incredibly chill, settles easily, and is perfectly content simply being near the people she loves. She has also spent time with a 2-year-old toddler and did very well with him. She was friendly and sweet, and we believe she has wonderful potential to become a loving family dog in a home with respectful children. Britney is dog friendly and has gotten along with every dog we have introduced her to. She enjoys playing and is wonderful at matching the energy of the dogs around her. We have not seen her go full-blown WrestleMania or dive into rough, physical play, but she happily joins in for games of chase. When the other dogs start wrestling, Britney becomes the cutest little third wheel, bouncing around the outskirts like their personal hype girl. She has spent time with dogs her size, dogs smaller than her, and even a dog approximately four times her size. That dog happened to be a purebred Irish Wolfhound, so we cannot blame Britney for being slightly unsure of him at first! Most of us would have questions too. All things considered, she handled his enormous size incredibly well and settled in around him nicely. Britney has also spent time around a few cats and has done fairly well with them. One of the cats did not like dogs and would try to come after her, so Britney understandably chose to run away and keep her distance. When that cat was calmly relaxing nearby, Britney was mostly interested in watching her. She has also been around a confident, dog-savvy cat who is basically a dog trapped inside a cat’s body, and she did well around him too. As always, introductions to any future feline siblings should be slow and supervised while everyone gets comfortable. Britney is crate trained, comfortable in her crate, and has been very quiet while crated from what we have seen and experienced. She also has wonderful house manners and has shown that she understands where the appropriate potty places are. Like any dog entering a new environment, she may need a little time to adjust to a new routine, but she already has a fantastic foundation. This little girl loves treats, takes them gently, and is eager to please. She also enjoys toys, and watching her find one she really loves is about as cute as it gets. Her inner puppy immediately comes out as she play bows, shakes it around, tosses it through the air, and has the absolute time of her life. Everything Britney does is adorable, but her tiny toy parties may take the prize. Britney also loves going for car rides. If the window is open, she is thrilled to stick her head out and enjoy the breeze. If it is closed, she will sit quietly, look out the window, and happily take in the view. With her manageable size, friendly personality, and ability to settle, we think she could become a wonderful companion for outings and adventures with her future family. Britney could thrive in a home with a backyard or in an apartment. She has enough energy to enjoy playtime, walks, and adventures, but she is also quiet, compact, and wonderfully relaxed inside the home.
