Meet Royalty, a sweet ~1-2 year old spayed female kelpie/terrier mix! She's a great size at about 32 lbs! Royalty is a shy girl at first, who takes some time to warm up to new people (especially men). However, she comes around with a little love and patience! She does best being introduced to new people slowly, sometimes outside throwing her treats. Fast movements and loud noises make her nervous and she may bark and/or growl. Because of this, we recommend a home with no young children. She does ok with older/dog savvy kids and has warmed up to her foster mom's grandson and will happily go for walks and cuddle with him! If you are patient with her and let her come to you on her own terms, she will eventually reward you with lots of cuddles and kisses once she has deemed you safe! Royalty is an energetic girl who enjoys going on walks and would love a fenced in yard of her own to run around and get out her energy! She also loves bones, lick mats, and puzzle toys. She is a very smart girl and knows many commands, including "sit", "down", "wait", "let's go", "paw", "other paw", and "leave it"! She is very food motivated and eager to learn - she would be a great candidate for training games and maybe even agility. She does great with other dogs after a proper intro and is BFFs with her foster fur sibling! She would love a confident, well adjusted doggo friend to show her the ropes and help her learn to build her confidence. 🌟 Meet Mr. Bi: The Sassy, Sweet, Wheelchair-Wielding Wonder! 🌟 Hey, world! I’m Mr. Bi (that’s bee—not bi, don’t get any funny ideas!). I’m a 5-year-old paralyzed pup originally from Vietnam. My life started in a bit of a pickle, but I’m here to tell you that I’m one resilient, sassy dog who doesn’t know the meaning of “giving up.” 👑 Let’s talk about my journey: I was hit by a car in Vietnam, then sent to the U.S. for treatment. Sadly, the person I was sent to decided to leave me in a dark, rat-infested basement. 🐀 They called themselves a rescuer, but I call it “the worst AirBnB ever.” It was rough—super rough—and for months, I was locked in a crate and left to suffer. But hey, it only made me stronger. 💪 Fast forward to August 31, 2021—cue dramatic rescue music. With some strategic planning (and a whole lot of sass), I was finally freed from that nightmare. I had lost muscle tone, had some rat bites, and I was really thin—like, "please feed me, I look like a skeleton" thin. But now? Now I’m thriving. I’ve gained 9 pounds, built up my strength, and I’m showing off my wheelchair like it’s my personal limo. 🛺 So, what’s life like with me? I’m a paralyzed dog, yes, but I’m far from helpless. I LOVE to swim to build my strength (no big deal, I’m basically a doggie Olympian). I go for walks in my wheelchair, and let me tell you, I look fabulous doing it. I love being brushed, and I’ll take all the cuddles you’ve got. ❤️ BUT, here’s the fun part: I’m also a little mischief-maker. I’ve got a thing for sweatpants—don’t wear them around me unless you’re okay with me trying to pull them down. It’s hilarious, and I think you’ll agree once you see it. 😜 Despite everything, I’ve got a big, bold personality and a zest for life. I love people, kids, dogs, and cats (even though I’m not shy about letting you know what I want). I’ve been through a lot, but I’m finally ready for my forever home. 🏡💕 I flew all the way here for a better life—NOT to die. And trust me, I’m not just surviving—I’m living my best life. Let me introduce you to the warm soul we call George, He has a comforting presence. George can come off a little reserved at first, but that’s just because he’s not the type to push for attention. He’s the quiet kind—like a best friend who’s always there, steady and grounding. George has all the traits of a loyal, loving dog and he is ready to find himself at home. What stands out most about George is how easy his company is. He’s slow and steady across the board—whether he’s meeting new people, walking on leash, hanging with other dogs, or encountering a cat.. Based on his look and temperament, we think he may be a Kelpie/Shepherd mix, estimated to be around 4 years old, and he weighs 50 lbs. As with any rescue, we can’t say with total certainty on age or breed, but he is fully-grown size so we can testify to how perfectly midsize he is. George is so fortunate and is being fostered in a loving home while he waits for his adoption day and this not only gives us a front-row account to hi personality but he also gets to learn and master the best house manners while he waits. His foster has praised George for how well he rides in the car- laying in the back peacefully, only perking up once they have arrived. He is also both house and crate trained! We loooove that! George lives with both cats and dogs in his foster home and he gets along well with them all. We spent an afternoon with George outside of his foster home to get a feel of his play style and approach to new dogs along with observing him meet a new cat. The first thing that jumped out was just how politely George meets new dogs on-leash. He showed a little excitement when he saw the first dog, it was contained but obvious, he was happy to meet a possible playmate.With each additional dog the approach was the same, neutral and calm. Although he never found the perfect playmate to really let loose, he was easy company and is dog-friendly. The most natural pairing was with a female, similar age to him, with a sense of confidence and bouts of playfullness. If going into a home with another dog, that would be almost exactly the type of dog he would be best with. Dogs like George, who come across as reserved, are often naturally independent, confident and content with their own company. Another quality we love! Even though we know George lives with cats we love to see a dog in a new environment, meeting a new cat to get a grasp on what that could look like once he is arriving in a new home. He was introduced on leash and he was curious but respectful and calm. As the cat got more animated and jumpy playing with a toy, George definitely thought it was an invitation to play. He obviously can live peacefully with cats but we all know, cat personalities are a variable. If joining a house with a cat(s), it would be best if they were dog savvy. He will respect a swat and may need one to mind a boundary. George would do great in a home with a yard, if for no other reason than his simple joy of laying in the shade on a patch of green grass. It is heaven to watch! He has great basic leash skills with a nice pace but a hectic, busy environment might throw off his vibes. Basically, the busy environment of elevators and lobby are not for him. He could do it, but we can see he isn’t much of a busy city guy. The same goes for family-life, he could do it but he has really been spoiled by a foster home with the occasional 20 something year old kid coming by to do laundry. In other words, empty-nester? Not with George! He is ready to fill your time with good company! Invite this boy home to peaceful place and a patch of grass, with a doggie friend and a cool cat and George will be there to take it all in—his pace and by your side! Are you looking for a soft soul to love in the midst of this crazy world? We have the perfect dog for you! Trixie is like the shy new kid in class who stays tucked in the corner until someone kind sits next to her, offers a little patience, and opens the door to a beautiful friendship. Once she realizes she’s safe and loved, she blooms. Trixie has gone from a quiet and unsure girl to a loyal, snuggly, playful companion who knows how good it feels to be loved and cherished. This beautiful girl weighs about 55 pounds and is estimated to be 5 years old. We think she is a Kelpie/Husky/shephard mix, but we aren’t really sure, so we just call her our Texas Special- the very best breed! She has a gorgeous coat that features a mixture of solid black shiny fur with patches of merle and spots on her socks. It is funny to watch her gently play with them, and then she takes it in stride when they growl and snap at her. They do snuggle up to her sometimes! In play groups with other big dogs she is very shy and stays on the sidelines. For that reason, we think Trixie would thrive in a home with small dogs. Trixie blossoms with people who are patient. Her bond with her foster mom is a shining example; she’s become her little shadow, quietly trailing from room to room just to be nearby. She loves to snuggle on the couch and have her belly rubbed. Trixie wants nothing more than to be with her person. Like many herding breeds, she uses her mouth to communicate and can be “mouthy”. She would do best with older kids who understand she is being playful. Looking for a buddy to grab a morning coffee or late night ice cream treat with? Trixie would love to join you! She is an excellent car rider and knows how to “load up”. She is great on the leash and loves to go for walks and to dog friendly stores. She walks by people and dogs with ease. Trixie gets lots of zoomies- so a home with a fenced yard she can run around in would be ideal for her. Trixie potty trained and create trained. She is not the biggest fan of the crate and will complain for a while, but will settle down when she can no longer see you, for this reason she would not do well in an apartment. Trixie’s new family should expect to spend some time building trust until she knows this is her new home. She is shy in new places and with new people. Trixie met our housecat Biggie and was gently curious, giving respectful sniffs before moving along. She’s considered cat tolerant and could do well in a home with a dog-savvy feline who won’t mind the occasional gentle inspection. Trixie is searching for a peaceful home where she can feel safe and adored, a place with a yard to explore, and a person to lean into and little dogs to play with.
