Story
Mr. Tux is a handsome, 1-year-old, 61 lb loyal sweetheart.  He is incredibly obedient and intelligent; already well-versed in commands knowing sit, paw, stay, down, and "no." He even stays in place when served food until released. He loves people, gets along great with other dogs, and even showed polite curiosity toward cats, though he hasn’t lived with them yet.  Mr. Tux was saved at the literal 11th hour because he was struggling to settle into the kennel environment while in Georgia.  He was losing weight, stressed, and clearly unhappy though he never showed an ounce of aggression.  Down South, the reality for so many dogs is being the first on the euthanasia list if you cannot live in a shelter environment due to overcrowding. Hearing his story, we had to step in and now, Mr. Tux is safe in NJ with a foster family who adores him and says he quickly fell into the routine and rules of the home. Mr. Tux is crate-trained and house-trained; even alerting you with a noseboop to the door handle or a bark if he needs to go outdoors.  He enjoys all the good things in life—cuddling, sunbathing, playing with toys (though stuffies are no match for him), fetching balls, and heading out on adventures.  He can be energetic, so we do recommend a family who has a fenced in yard, so he has the perfect place to burn off energy.  Though by the end of the day, he's ready to stretch out and take up his fair share of the couch while lounging on your lap! While well-meaning, Mr. Tux is a strong guy and does not seem to be aware of his size. He also loves to give hugs and kisses.  Because of this, we recommend a household with only adults or older children only.    Mr. Tux is microchipped, neutered, and up to date on vaccines—ready to start his new life with a family who will love him forever. His adoption fee is $415. For an affectionate lovebug of a dog, apply for MR. TUX ATHENS at EHRDOGS.ORG. May 20, 2026, 10:50 am

Story
This little 30 lb, 1-year-old girl is named Penny, and she is one very lucky penny indeed to have been rescued! Her foster family refers to her as "Sweet P." As she has been warming up in a new foster home, her personality is really starting to shine through despite what she has gone through in the past. Penny was rescued from a situation in a rural area overcrowded with dogs where there isn't enough food for them to eat. She had lived with dozens of cats before. Penny has closed that account of her life and is ready to invest in a new loving home. Penny is house trained, is doing well with crate training, is super well-behaved, and an obedient pup. She does walk great on the leash, but it may take a bit of coaxing to actually get the leash on her. Penny is a shy girl, but she is very sweet. She is timid around men, new people, and loud noises but has not shown any aggression.  Due to this, Penny should be in a home with no children or older, considerate, gentle children only. While she does not seem interested in toys much, give her a stick from the yard and she is after it! It's the simple things after all. She gets the zoomies, loves pets to her ears, tummy, and butt scratches, and enjoys a long walk. One thing about Penny is she does not seem to be a big fan of stairs, though, her foster family is working on this with her. Penny is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $415. While pennies usually are not worth much, this Penny will make you rich beyond measure! Deposit this darling into your heart and home by applying for PENNY SCAS at www.ehrdogs.org. May 20, 2026, 10:50 am

Story
Chico is a 1-year-old male mix that weighs about 50 lbs and is looking for his adventure buddy/family to go through life with! Chico was found roaming around a neighborhood along the Texas/Mexico border. Unfortunately, there are thousands of strays in this area, and it is very normal to have dogs hanging out on the corners, looking for scraps, water and just some place to lay down. A good Samaritan noticed Chico (and a few other dogs) close to her home just roaming around for a couple weeks, and decided she wanted to help them. Matilda and Chico are 2 of the many dogs our rescue has stepped up to help her with. Chico was hanging around the area for about 2-3 months before she took him in in early December of 2025, when it was just too cold for him to be out there. Chico was a little shy at first, but it didn’t take him long to show his big personality. He is an active boy that loves to play and romp around the yard. He loves to stretch his legs and chase the other dogs around the yard. Chico needs a more active home, one that will provide plenty of exercise. Not only is Chico active, but he is also very smart and would do best with activity games to work with (where he must look for his treats or similar) to give him some challenges. He loves playing with toys, especially stuffed ones where he can dig the squeaker out and squeak it until it can squeak no more. The next best thing is making sure the cotton is all out of the toy and leaving it everywhere for the foster to pick up, this is definitely in his top 5 favorite things. He enjoys bones and balls also. Really anything that will keep him busy and enjoying himself. He is mostly crate trained unless he is left alone too long, then he does have an accident, but not on purpose. Chico is great with children but due to his activity level, we do recommend slightly older children because he is very playful and known to jump sometimes when he gets his happy zoomies. He loves his walks and going exploring! He is very curious and always up to see new things. As you can see in the video, Chico had no problems with having a bath done and if anything, he is probably one of the better-behaved dogs we have seen getting a bath! If you’re looking for a very smart, curious, energetic, playful, and loving adult dog that just needs a family to call his forever one, please consider Chico. Chico will be neutered, he is current on age-appropriate vaccinations including parvo/distemper, bordatella and the rabies vaccine. He is heart worm negative, dewormed, microchipped, current on flea/tick and heart worm prevention, and will receive a clean bill of health from a veterinarian prior to adoption/transport. To apply to adopt you can go to our website at: www.pawsitive-Impact-animal-rescue.org This animal is currently located in Texas, but we do NOT adopt animals out in Texas due to the hundreds of animals being euthanized here daily. We do adopt in Central US and the East Coast. The adoption fee listed INCLUDES transport from Texas to the location where this animal is posted in. Transport goes to the following locations every 2-3 weeks Albany, NY Wells and Brattleboro, VT Willington, Enfield, New Haven and Dayville, CT Port Chester, NY Dayon and Akron, OH Grove City and Bloomsburg, PA Ridgefield and Mt Laurel, NJ White Marsh and Falls Church, MD We have happily adopted hundreds of animals this way (long distance), and we do our best to make sure the animal you are applying for is best fit for your home.

Story
**Please note this is pet is currently out of town pet but we will transport this pet to NJ for you when adopted. All fees listed include transport fees.** Robin is a 3-year-old male and a true survivor! He has overcome incredible odds and deserves the best forever home. Two years ago, this brave boy was on the euthanasia list due to a severe injury after getting caught in a kennel door. We saved his leg, and although it's permanently deformed, it doesn’t slow him down one bit! Robin has a pawsitively infectious zest for life! Weighing about 47 pounds, he is most likely a mix of Carolina dog, Staffordshire Terrier, American Pit Bull Terrier, and maybe even some Kelpie. With that DNA and his resilient spirit, Robin truly is a super mutt! Here are some more things to know about Robin: He is potty and crate trained and understands basic commands. He is also a saint in a crate. Robin is great with other dogs and kids and loves being around humans of all ages. He walks well on a leash and loves exploring the world with you. He’s a resilient, loving, and spirited dog who’s ready to fill your home with joy and companionship. Interested in becoming a forever home for Robin? Fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we don't go any further without an application. Find more adoptable pets, news and information on Instagram @friendswithfourpaws or our Facebook page Friends with Four Paws . We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting Robin. We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and Robin the perfect forever home, and appreciate you working with us. For immediate consideration, please attach your application to the initial inquiry to help us expedite the process. Our adoption fee is $525. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed.
