Story
Mr. Tux is a handsome, 1-year-old, 61 lb loyal sweetheart.  He is incredibly obedient and intelligent; already well-versed in commands knowing sit, paw, stay, down, and "no." He even stays in place when served food until released. He loves people, gets along great with other dogs, and even showed polite curiosity toward cats, though he hasn’t lived with them yet.  Mr. Tux was saved at the literal 11th hour because he was struggling to settle into the kennel environment while in Georgia.  He was losing weight, stressed, and clearly unhappy though he never showed an ounce of aggression.  Down South, the reality for so many dogs is being the first on the euthanasia list if you cannot live in a shelter environment due to overcrowding. Hearing his story, we had to step in and now, Mr. Tux is safe in NJ with a foster family who adores him and says he quickly fell into the routine and rules of the home. Mr. Tux is crate-trained and house-trained; even alerting you with a noseboop to the door handle or a bark if he needs to go outdoors.  He enjoys all the good things in life—cuddling, sunbathing, playing with toys (though stuffies are no match for him), fetching balls, and heading out on adventures.  He can be energetic, so we do recommend a family who has a fenced in yard, so he has the perfect place to burn off energy.  Though by the end of the day, he's ready to stretch out and take up his fair share of the couch while lounging on your lap! While well-meaning, Mr. Tux is a strong guy and does not seem to be aware of his size. He also loves to give hugs and kisses.  Because of this, we recommend a household with only adults or older children only.    Mr. Tux is microchipped, neutered, and up to date on vaccines—ready to start his new life with a family who will love him forever. His adoption fee is $415. For an affectionate lovebug of a dog, apply for MR. TUX ATHENS at EHRDOGS.ORG. May 19, 2026, 2:07 pm

Story
This little 30 lb, 1-year-old girl is named Penny, and she is one very lucky penny indeed to have been rescued! Her foster family refers to her as "Sweet P." As she has been warming up in a new foster home, her personality is really starting to shine through despite what she has gone through in the past. Penny was rescued from a situation in a rural area overcrowded with dogs where there isn't enough food for them to eat. She had lived with dozens of cats before. Penny has closed that account of her life and is ready to invest in a new loving home. Penny is house trained, is doing well with crate training, is super well-behaved, and an obedient pup. She does walk great on the leash, but it may take a bit of coaxing to actually get the leash on her. Penny is a shy girl, but she is very sweet. She is timid around men, new people, and loud noises but has not shown any aggression.  Due to this, Penny should be in a home with no children or older, considerate, gentle children only. While she does not seem interested in toys much, give her a stick from the yard and she is after it! It's the simple things after all. She gets the zoomies, loves pets to her ears, tummy, and butt scratches, and enjoys a long walk. One thing about Penny is she does not seem to be a big fan of stairs, though, her foster family is working on this with her. Penny is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $415. While pennies usually are not worth much, this Penny will make you rich beyond measure! Deposit this darling into your heart and home by applying for PENNY SCAS at www.ehrdogs.org. May 19, 2026, 2:07 pm

Story
Gizmo is the very definition of bravery, resilience, and second chances. At just 18 months old and a tiny 10 pounds, this Miniature Aussie mix carries a story far bigger than his size. He is a breathtaking tri-color boy with a fluffy tail and the most unforgettable face — one deep chocolate brown eye and one sparkling blue eye that seems to hold an entire journey inside it. Gizmo came from a heartbreaking situation — over 200 dogs crammed into a tiny home and outdoor kennels by a backyard breeder. He was just a number there. Overlooked. Under-loved. His natural shyness became his shield, keeping him safe but also keeping love at a distance.   But then everything changed.   His foster family patiently worked their way into his guarded little heart, and once he realized he was safe, he opened up in the most beautiful way. While he can still be shy in new environments, with a little patience and kindness he blossoms. And when he trusts you? He is loyal beyond measure. He has chosen the dad in his foster home as “his person,” and he will happily follow him from room to room like the devoted little shadow he is.Gizmo is fully housebroken and an absolute champion on a leash. Like many Australian Shepherds, he is incredibly intelligent and eager to learn. He loves being outdoors — soaking up the sunshine in a securely fenced yard or patio and enjoying peaceful walks on a quiet street. A calm home environment would help him thrive. He does wonderfully with dogs and cats of all sizes, but he would also be perfectly content as your one-and-only companion. He’s a quiet little guy who loves his treats, enjoys curling up in his cozy bed to watch TV with his humans, and simply wants to belong.   If you’ve ever wanted to be part of a true rescue “rags to riches” story, Gizmo is waiting. His journey includes a recent miracle that will absolutely amaze you — and we would love to share it with serious adopters. To learn more about this incredible little survivor, please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com. Gizmo is ready for the next chapter of his beautiful life.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMay 18, 2026, 5:20 pm

Story
When we tell the story of  Mika, we have chosen to leave out the harsh details of the neglect and dirty conditions that she lived in.  Suffice to say it was disturbing to view. She was rescued alongside her sister, Millicent  who endured the same harsh living conditions. Despite a history of being mistreated and neglected, Mika the 18 month old, 52 pound  Aussie/Hound mix girl has a heart of gold and has shown zero resentment. She has spent the last few weeks learning what it means to be safe, clean, and cared for, and she has taken to her new life with total grace. Personality: Calm, affectionate, and steady. Mika is the definition of a sweetheart. She has a gentle, low-key temperament that makes her a perfect fit for a family looking for a more relaxed companion. She is fantastic with kids and simply wants to be where the love is. While she hasn't quite figured out what to do with toys yet, she is incredibly food-motivated, which has made her recent leash training a breeze! Mika is a polite listener who comes when called and is eager to please. She would be a wonderful addition to a home that values cuddles and a steady presence. She is ready to trade her rescue status for a lifetime of treats and affection. Best Skills: Calm demeanor, highly food-motivated (easy to train!), great listener, and kid-friendly. Ideal Home: A loving family that enjoys a peaceful pace and plenty of bonding time. Mika is ready for a new and fresh reset to her life.  She is ready to leave the hard past behind and only look ahead.  She is in Nashville, TN but can be transported to the northeastern states that the transport van visits and stops in.   Critter Cavalry Rescue would love to hear from you at ccrtennessee@gmail.com   We stand behind this girl being one of the best dogs you could ever call your very own.

Story
Stella is a friendly and intelligent dog with plenty of energy. We want her to be happy and have a space where she can run around and play with other dogs. Previously, Stella lived in the mountains of Colorado, where she enjoyed a large fenced yard and had lots of friends to play with. Now, she is living in a townhouse without a yard, which has been challenging for her. As a very active young lady, she is currently feeling unhappy. Stella is a mix of Australian Cattle Dog, Husky, German Shepherd, and Golden Retriever, and she is expected to weigh around 30 pounds. She is a loving and eager-to-learn dog who picks up new skills quickly. Stella would be an amazing agility dog, as this would engage both her mind and her need for physical activity. If agility training isn't your interest, she would also thrive in an active lifestyle with an avid walker, hiker, or runner.  Stella is a very quick learner and was immediately fully potty trained.     To ensure the best for Stella, her new owners should have a yard or live on a farm, and it would be great if they have another dog and children.  Stella has plenty of energy to add playing at home to her list of activities.    Stella has been spayed and is current on all her shots until May 2026.  To be considered for her forever family and to request an application please contact Vivienne at vivienneajames@gmail.com.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Stella is currently in Tennessee and can be transported north upon adoption.)  March 7, 2026, 12:24 pm
