Courtesy Post: Owner Surrender/Rehoming- Mabelvale, AR *This dog doesn’t belong to ASF and hasn’t been evaluated by ASF. * Meet Asher! He is a 3-year-old Australian Shepherd and weighs 45 lbs. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on shots, and on heartworm prevention. Asher is hostile around strangers! He is good with children! No cats, due to his reactivity! He is good with dogs outside of the home, as long as they aren’t aggressive at first. He is housebroken and crate trained. Asher bit the owner’s friend on the arm after being reactive towards a car that pulled up to the front gate of the owner’s house. Prior to the car showing up, he was playing with the owner’s friend’s dog and was fine. He bit the owner on her fingers after she tried to take a cooked chicken bone away from him. He also bit a family member inside of the home twice when they tried to cautiously remove a piece of trash that Asher had. This family member usually has a good relationship with Asher. The owner is surrendering him because they are no longer able to care for him, due to health and financial issues. He also has started having behavioral issues, due to no longer having access to a larger yard. He needs to go ASAP! If you think you can provide a great home for Asher, please contact the owner listed below. There is a $150 rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions. This fee will be donated to Australian Shepherds Furever for their assistance in placing Asher. Owner’s Contact Information: Eowyn eowyndavidson@gmail.com

Courtesy Post: Owner Surrender/Rehoming- North Little Rock, AR *This dog doesn’t belong to ASF and hasn’t been evaluated by ASF.* Meet Oakley! She is an 5 year old Miniature American Shepherd and weighs 27 lbs. She is spayed, up to date on shots, and on heartworm prevention. Oakley is good with older children! No younger children, cats, or dogs, due to her reactivity! Oakley will pee in the house when guests come over, because she is excited. She is anxious around storms and loud wind. Oakley bit the owner’s younger son twice on the face. This happened when he had food and the other incident happened when he got too close. She will also nip people’s hands if they try to take something from her without offering her a treat. She also bit the owner’s husband after their young son attempted to hug her. Oakley went after their son and when the husband tried to intervene, she bit him. The owner is surrendering her because she doesn’t do well with younger children. They have worked with a trainer, but she hasn’t improved. If you think you can provide a great home for Oakley, please contact the owner listed below. There is a $150 rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions. This fee will be donated to Australian Shepherds Furever for their assistance in placing Oakley. Story
Mali (pronounced Molly) came to Out of the Woods after coming up to a home in a rural area. She was in good shape except she had lots of ticks. We looked for her owner with no success.Mali appears to be an Australian Shepherd mix and weighs 33 pounds. She's a young dog, probably around 8 months old at the time of this post (May 4, 2025). Mali is basically solid black, but she has a small white patch on her chest and some white on her toes on all four feet. Her front legs are brindle in color and she has little brown eyebrows. Her ears stand up and tip over at the ends. Her fur is the softest you've ever felt! It's just so silky. Mali has plenty of energy and so far has been extremely loving to everyone she's met! Crate trained, house trained to a doggie door and learning how to work on a leash, Mali is a well-behaved girl. Mali rides exceptional in a car with no drooling or vomiting (even after her spay surgery!) She also knows some basic commands such as "sit" and will sit before being given her meals. She is a quick learner and minds extremely well so we feel she had a family at one point who taught her some good manners. . The traits of an Aussie are intelligence, an above-average energy level (but not off the charts), great with small children, affectionate and good with other dogs (we don't know about cats). Aussie's are know for their herding ability, but so far we have not seen her attempt to herd anything. Mali would make a fantastic agility dog and is going to be a very nice size when full grown as she will probably stay under 40 pounds. We definitely recommend a fenced yard for Mali and another younger, playful dog would be a big plus for her! She just LOVES the other dogs in her foster home. She's the sweetest little girl that is looking for her forever family. Story
Our beloved Oakley is a red-tri mini Aussie. She's a high-energy, ball-loving, face-kissing, vocal, smart-as-a-whip girl who requires a very active lifestyle. Though timid at first, she loves people, adults and older children especially. She does not do well with other dogs or other animals in general. Young children, especially little boys, make her feel anxious, which is the primary reason we have chosen to re-home her. Oakley would thrive as the sole pet in a house where at least one adult was present for most of the day, who could take her on plenty of walks or hikes, and/or play ball with her in a fully fenced in yard. She thrives off of learning new tricks, loves routine, and is the fluffiest, sweetest shadow. She loves to snuggle at the foot of the bed at night, and beg for cheese as your making dinner. She has some minor dental concerns that require yearly treatment. Like all high-energy pups, she has a mischievous side, but so much love to give!
