Story
This is Diego. He's an 11 month old Aussie mix that needs a foster home. He was a "free dog" online and the original owners did not represent him honestly with the new owners. Things are not working out and he needs to be properly placed (after full vetting). He is scheduled dor neuter on Tuesday. We hope to have a foster in place by then. He's great with his people and FEMALE dogs. His behavior around cats is unknown because the family does not have cats. There was a pretty bad fight between Diego and the senior male dog in this family. Since the fight the family has been distrusting of his behavior around the four-year-old as well so to be safe they have kept them separate. This is why he has to go. For this reason, we do not want him fostered with male dogs until he has been vetted and properly evaluated. We also do not feel that he should be placed in a home with young children until vetting and evaluation. He's a beautiful boy and deserves a happily ever after. We can help him find it!! It may well be he just needs his testosterone to be taken care of. Many dogs settle down after neuter and it's never fair to these animals when the original owners do not divulge all the information to the new owners. We feel this is a combination of situations that has just worked against Diego. Foster application can be filled out through this link: https://petstablished.com/foster_form/31711/generic If you fill out a foster application please give our director a heads up as we do not have a volunteer readily responding to applications at this time. It helps us to know that one has been submitted. You may text Aspen at 352-843-6858 ##1357659##

Story
*CONGENITAL HEART DEFECT* *By appointment only Hi, I’m Cholula or Lula for short! I was born with a heart defect, specifically Mitral Valve Dysplasia. I will need to go to a veterinary cardiologist every 3 to 6 months for an echocardiogram to track the progression of my heart disease, and I will need to be on heart medications for the rest of my life. There is no cure and my lifespan will be significantly decreased as I will eventually progress into congestive heart failure. Adding me as a member of your family will be expensive, but I’m worth it! ♡ My foster mom says I’m the cutest little puppy and I’m very calm for my age. I like to observe what’s going on around me, and I love to chew on toys. I enjoy short play sessions outside and get mini zoomies. ♡

Story
Sophie is two yo. She has been good with the dogs she has encountered. She knows basic commands and fetches. We have an invisible fence and she does great with it, even when other dogs walk by. She loves being right with her family. She is a follower so if you have a calm stable dog she will fall in line, if you have a hyper and reactive dog that is how she will act. We have not been able to get her to leave the cats alone, she just tries to herd them as is her breed. But one of the cats is special needs, we were hoping Sophie would get used to them as she got older. She definitely prefers kids who leave her alone. I would highly recommend no small children as she tries to herd them. I think her ideal home would be one that understands the needs of Australian Shepherds, has no small kids or animals, and room to run. I think someone who could train her for agility would be great. Also someone able to work with her on walking properly as she likes to just run around us on walks.

Story
Gemini Zod is a charismatic Aussie mix with a unique blend of charm and energy. This adorable pup came to us initially shy and scared, but it took just a couple of days for him to reveal the true star within. Gemini Zod has transformed into an outgoing and charismatic companion. His big personality shines through, bringing joy and laughter to those around him. Gemini Zod enjoys an extremely active lifestyle. His love for walking, chasing after a ball, and indulging in some bone-chewing sessions is truly delightful to witness. But the real show-stopper is when he decides it's time for zoomies – his playful sprints and twists are guaranteed to bring a smile to your face. Gemini Zod is seeking a home that appreciates his lively spirit and is ready to provide the love and engagement he craves.  HE IS EXTREMELY PEOPLE SELECTIVE AND MUST GO TO A VERY EXPERIENCED ADOPTER. PLEASE NOTE: All your current pets must be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention to adopt from Polka Dogz. We only adopt in Florida. All adoption fees go to help all the dogs in the rescue, some of which require extensive medical care. Thank you for caring for the greater good. Adoption fee is $450 and you can adopt me at WWW.POLKADOGZ.ORG ##2048458##

Story
Bentley is a loyal, intelligent dog who is eager to learn and easy to train. We rescued him a few years ago, and for much of that time, he was our only dog. Two years ago, he became a father to six puppies, and while we found loving homes for most of them, we kept two. At first, Bentley was fine with the puppies, but as they grew older, he became more protective—especially around his food and the house when they come inside. He seems anxious around them and would truly thrive as the only dog in a home where he can feel secure and relaxed. Bentley takes a little time to warm up to new people, but once he does, he’s an incredibly loyal companion. We welcome prospective adopters to visit him multiple times to ensure it’s a great match. A patient adopter who allows Bentley to build trust at his own pace, including with friends and family, will be rewarded with a devoted best friend for life.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Meet Lizzy – Brainy, Bouncy, and Full of Spark ?Lizzy is a smart and spirited Border Collie mix who brings big personality wherever she goes. She’s playful, affectionate, and always ready to engage—whether that’s chasing toys, learning new games, or soaking up attention from her favorite people. Lizzy knows sit, takes treats enthusiastically, enjoys car rides, and has a soft side that comes out once she settles—snuggles included.True to her herding-dog roots, Lizzy has lots of energy and opinions. She can be reactive to other dogs, especially behind barriers, and does best with slow introductions and a small, carefully chosen dog circle—or as an only dog. Impulse control and leash manners are works in progress, but she’s highly food- and toy-motivated, making her a great candidate for positive-reinforcement training. In the yard, she loves to zoom, explore, and then cool off (sometimes literally—she’s been known to take a dip when tired!).Lizzy also has some orthopedic considerations: she has an abnormal gait with patellar issues and arthritis in her hind legs. Surgery is the gold standard, but if that’s not an option, she’ll need a couch-potato lifestyle, joint supplements, and pain management under veterinary guidance. Think mental enrichment over marathon hikes—puzzle toys, training games, and structured play will be her jam.If you’re looking for a clever, loving dog with a big heart and a bigger personality, Lizzy might just be your girl. She’s ready for someone who sees her not as “too much,” but as just right.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Naomi is an adorable, herding-type girl whose energy, intelligence, and enthusiasm are very typical of this breed category. She recently enjoyed a lunch outing with staff and showed just how fun and engaging she can be.She loaded easily into the car and was clearly excited for the adventure. While she did some happy wiggling and exploring at first, she settled in well with only occasional vocalizing. At the café, Naomi walked politely, sat calmly while ordering, and relaxed beautifully once food arrived, soaking up the sunshine and downtime.Naomi truly shines when she gets to move. She loved zooming around on a long line, splashing in the water, and rolling in the grass. She appears well-suited for an active home and may excel in dog sports or other structured activities that give her both physical and mental outlets. She is very treat-motivated and already knows cues such as sit, speak, and paw. She is eager to learn, with down still being a work in progress. During play, Naomi can become overstimulated and may jump up or grab at arms with some pressure while vocalizing, which is common in herding-type dogs. She responds well to redirection and slows easily with treats, and continued training will help her build appropriate play skills.Despite her high energy, Naomi also knows how to settle and relax during quieter moments, happily recharging when given the chance.Naomi is ready to go and would thrive with an adopter who understands herding breeds and is excited to continue her training, provide structure, and embrace an active lifestyle.
