COMING SOON- But available to visit with NOW!Rooster Hannigan — He Experiences the World a Little DifferentlyRooster may not hear every sound or clearly see everything around him—but he has absolutely no trouble finding a treat, feeling a gentle hand, or knowing when someone is showing him kindness.Rooster came to East Ridge Animal Services as a stray in rough condition, with significant hair loss and irritated skin. Beneath all of that was a beautiful double-merle Aussie boy with striking blue eyes and a tremendous desire to connect with people. Now that he is receiving care, we are beginning to see the dog who was hidden underneath.Because Rooster is a double merle, he has some hearing and vision impairment. He will need a patient person who understands that communication may look a little different for him. A predictable routine, gentle handling, treats, hand signals he can see, and consistent touch cues will help him feel safe and understand what is being asked of him.Rooster is extremely treat-motivated, affectionate, and responsive to guidance. Once he is leashed and moving, he can walk beautifully on a loose leash beside his person. He loves being petted and is eager to form a connection. His disabilities do not prevent him from enjoying life—they simply mean he needs someone willing to enter his world and learn how to communicate with him.We know there are Aussie people out there who understand these intelligent, sensitive dogs. Rooster would benefit from an adopter or rescue experienced with Australian Shepherds, double-merle dogs, or dogs with sensory impairments. More than anything, he needs patience, consistency, and someone who will give him time to learn that he is safe.Rooster is currently available to a reputable rescue. He will be available for adoption after he is neutered, which we hope will happen within the next week or two.Rooster does not need perfect sight or hearing to live a beautiful life. He just needs someone who can see how special he is—and hear what his heart has been trying to say.

I have had Primmy since she was about 6 weeks old. She will turn 6 in October of this year. She is a wonderful dog that loves people and always wants to play. She is a covid puppy so has a bit of separation anxiety that she takes daily medication for. Because of this she wants to be around people as much as possible. She plays well with kids but hasn’t been around other animals very often. My wife and I are having a baby and as much as we love her she won’t be able to get the attention she deserves in the next couple years. We would love her to be able to go to someone who can give her the playtime and energy she deserves.
