Story
In Dunlap, TN -Artie is ready for his forever home! Artie is special needs, as he is completely blind. He has done so well in his foster home. Artie is a 1 year old Australian mix who is completely blind. He is neutered, current on all vaccinations, on heartworm prevention and microchipped. Artie is a lively boy filled with curiosity about the world. He loves the sound of planes overhead and the rustle of the leaves in the wind and the feel of the sun and wind on his face. He is potty trained (but taken out quite often). He loves being in the house with his people and also running outside with his two Aussie friends. He is crate trained and rarely puts up a bark about going into the crate. He loves the contents of a full toy basket and will empty it to make sure he shares his attention with each toy. He is very smart and is learning commands. Artie has been blind since birth but he is so eager to find his way. You would not know he's blind as he maneuvers around the house and outside. He bumps into things occasionally, but he keeps right on going. He will follow you anywhere if you have treats. He may be able to detect light and movement of shapes. We have hopes that Artie will become a very enjoyable and loved family pet, as he is not aggressive or reactive in the least and has a soft mouth when playing with toys and loves a good pet and scratch. Artie would do well with a companion dog, preferably a dog his size or larger. He is also very capable of entertaining himself with his toys and would do well as an only “child” because he loves his people and wants to be wherever they are. He needs a fenced yard so he can run and play without veering off in a wrong direction. He will need continued leash training, but should do well with time and consistency. What Artie needs most is a loving human who is patient and can help guide him through the world and keep him safe and someone who will be dedicated to him and make him part of the family. He will love you and you will love him! He is ready for adventures. Check out Artie. If you would like to consider making Artie a part of your family, please fill out our adoption application at the link below. https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption... There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to his new furever family.

Story
Courtesy Post: Owner Surrender/Rehoming- Chattanooga, TN Meet Indie! He is a 3 year old Australian Shepherd and weighs 45 lbs. He is neutered and up to date on shots, but isn’t on heartworm prevention. Indie is hostile around strangers. He is good with cats and older children! No dogs or younger children, due to his reactivity! Indie bit two people that came into the owner’s house unexpectedly. The owner said she has since learned that strangers need to give him treats for him to warm up to them. The owner is surrendering him because she is having a baby and is unable to provide the life that Indie needs. He needs to go by 6/30! If you think you can provide a great home for Indie, please contact the owner listed below. There is a $150 rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions. This fee will be donated to Australian Shepherds Furever for their assistance in placing Indie. Owner’s Contact Information: Martha Clemmer at (845) 802-4944 or marthajmihm@gmail.com.

Story
Hello, my name is Georgia. I am a 3 y/o Australian Shepherd female. I have been well loved by my family. As I've gotten older my natural herding instincts have really kicked in & sometimes that's a problem. I try to herd children & other dogs in our family. I get really upset when the boy in our family plays ball because it appears as a threat. In fact all sudden movements of children make me uneasy. I've never been mistreated by a child but they all seem to move quickly & I don't like it. I am a very low energy girl. I enjoy walks but I really love snuggling wherever a companion sits or sleeps more than anything . I have become a bit nervous in the last year & I would really enjoy being an only dog. I am a very sweet girl & I'm always so happy to see my people when we've been apart. I get very chatty & spin in circles. I have a lot of fur & require some brushing and an occasional haircut. I am very well behaved for the groomers & I don't mind baths. I am strictly an indoor girl.

Story
Batman is an extremely nervous dog and would not even let us pet him or get near him for many months after adopting him 4yrs ago. I have been working with him and he has made much improvement but definitely would need a patient owner willing to slowly work with him to get over his fears. He now will come up to people and allow people to pet him. He also loves cuddling on the bed. He loves dogs more than he loves people and will learn from them and a home with another dog would be best for him. He also gets along great with cats and kids who are able to respect his space when he asks for it. He is still fearful of being leashed (though we have been working on that), jumping in cars, and being picked up so a fenced in yard is a must as walks are tricky. I have been able to crate train him and he must be crated at night due to waking up in a panic at the slightest noise. He only shows aggression when cornered or picked up. Even then, he will bare his teeth and warning nips before biting.

Found as a young puppy and has been great in every way. Just needs more attention that I can’t provide at the moment. Also a single pet home wouldn’t hurt.

Story
My husband and I found our precious baby boy in a flea market in Alabama, as soon as we saw his adorable face our hearts melted and he had to come home with us. Unfortunately the land we rent is being developed so we are having to move out and sadly cannot take all of our dogs with us. Dante is now about 1 year and 8 months as of this month, since we brought him home we did notice he was very shy with my husband, and soon learned he had a particular fear or distrust towards Males. When my sisters would visit he was cautious but would sniff them a bit and soon be his goofy and excited self! But if a male, stranger or not got near him he becomes shy and hides. It breaks my heart to see this, but I'm in over my head and don't know what to do to help. So I think he would do best in a household with girls or a Single Female who is in need of a sweet, caring, loving and fun companion! Although that is my opinion perhaps a Male who knows about Aussie/Pit mixes can help him learn to trust.
