Story
Added River bday pic today Feb 2026 with new toy he loved it.I rescued river weighed 4 lb now weighs 71. He will be 2 yrs Feb 8, 2026.really good dog! Unfortunately I got reoccurrence of breast cancer and found out my husband has prostate cancer we are not able to give River the attention he deserves. He’s spoiled and use to being warm in winter cool in summer. I put picture of him laying under fan he loves his fan in the summer. hard to describe what we have set up for him to stay in but it’s very nice even though he’s not in the house. I will take pictures send to whoever is interested so you can see his area he could be in house likes both. I wish my circumstances were different I hate to see him go I want to make sure it’s someone who loves animals and will be good to him not fair to him now I don’t think this is a good life he needs more attention. You can have all his things he has 2 beds too. With a heavy heart this was a hard decision. I hope he gets a great home.

Story
We’re not sure about Veronica’s backstory, but we know that she’s likely been through a lot. It seems as if someone wasn’t always very nice to her because she shuts down in some situations. But she does want to be right with her person, following closely on their heels. We think Veronica is about 6 years old. She is a gorgeous Australian shepherd with a gentle personality. While she is recovering from heartworm treatment, she still has energy and wants to play.  Veronica is deaf and has limited vision. She’s very smart and has learned several touch commands including “good girl” and “come.” She is learning to walk nicely on a leash and is housebroken. She sleeps nicely in her pen overnight. Veronica would do best in a home with a friendly dog to help give her confidence. She does not like being left alone for very long, so she’d love someone who is home most of the day. She’d love an active person because she loves to explore and go on adventures. She’d prefer a physical, fenced yard to keep her safe. This sweet, beautiful Aussie is being fostered in the St. Louis area.  ##2378212##

Story
Bella Mae is a sweet senior Australian shepherd who came to rescue after years of neglect. She quickly blossomed in her loving foster home and is now ready to find her forever family. Bella likes to sleep, eat, and get attention from her person, always wanting to be close by. She sometimes plays with stuffed toys or pushes a ball around, but is generally pretty low-key. She loves all humans – adults and kids – and they fall in love with her as soon as they meet. She is great with other dogs but doesn’t really want them sharing her dinner or her toys. She would be perfectly content as the only dog in the family. Bella Mae is very trustworthy in the house. She just naps and waits for her person to come home. She is potty trained, knows “sit” and “no” and is working on leash walking. Bella Mae would love a home where someone is around often because she loves the company. A physical, fenced yard would be great because she likes to hang out in the sun on nice days.  This sweet senior is being fostered in the St. Louis area. Story
Cricket, admittedly, is gorgeous. This Australian shepherd mix puppy has the most beautiful coat and the most mesmerizing eyes. But she is loads more than lovely. Cricket is a snuggly, happy-go-lucky pup. She’s confident and spunky and always up for some fun. Cricket likes to wrestle with her siblings and play with stuffed toys. She adores other dogs and thinks her person is great. Cricket is working on potty training and leash skills and is so smart, she’ll be a know it all in no time. Cricket would like a home with a physical, fenced yard. Extra points for a friendly dog buddy. She’d love it if someone was home most of the day. This happy puppy is being fostered in the St. Louis area. Please fill out an application at: https://www.speakrescue.com/pre-adoption-form ##2698561##

Story
Handsome Martin is the perfect mix of Australian shepherd and corgi. He has the brains, the looks, and the personality. This 3-month-old puppy was orphaned with his sister when his mom died tragically. He was bottle-raised and is now a sweet and loving puppy who certain adores his people. Martin’s favorite thing to do is play with toys. He is good with other dogs and is doing well with potty training, crate training, and walking on a leash.  Martin is deaf and has quickly been picking up loads of hand signals. In days, he learned sit, treat, stay, come, and kennel. He’s brilliant and eager to learn more. Martin would love a home where someone is around much of the day. He would prefer a physical, fenced yard so he could have safe zoomies and adventures. Martin absolutely loves his humans and wants to be held close and snuggled as much as possible. This sweet pup is being fostered near Kalamazoo, Michigan. Apply here: https://www.speakrescue.com/pre-adoption-form ##2660249##

Story
Handsome Gawain was named for one King Arthur’s valiant Knights of the Round Table. Like the legend, this puppy is loyal and courageous. Unlike the legend, his favorite things to do are play, snack, and cuddle. Gawain (the puppy) is an alluring mix of Australian shepherd, Pomeranian, and husky. He can be playful and energetic, but he has a wonderful off switch when it’s time to chill. He loves to play with other dogs, run around in the yard, and entertain himself with toys. He’s super smart and knows “sit,” “come,” and “eat!” Gawain is athletic and would likely excel at agility or sports. Gawain sleeps quietly in his crate all night and is doing well with potty training. He’s good with kids but is probably a little too exuberant for teeny tots. Gawain absolutely adores other dogs and would love to have a friendly dog buddy in his new home. He’d also like a physically fenced yard and someone with herding dog experience who is around much of the day. Valiant Gawain is being fostered in the St. Louis area. Story
This boy just wants love. He was here once before... He was found roaming and matted on a country road. when he was adopted, he was thrilled! He went for hikes and went fishing with his new dad. He had a home and a family! Unfortunately, he does not like children. They move too fast for him and it makes him very nervous. After an incident involving children visiting his home, his new family decided it would be best for him to return to the shelter. Now he sits.... not understanding. He would love a retired couple or someone with grown children to be his forever. He is crate trained so if children visit the home, he can easily be contained.Thank you for taking the time to look at our precious "pound puppies" If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to reach out to us directly at 730-272-1071. We would love to help connect you with your new best friend.
