Story
Joseph is the cutest little bundle of personality. Only about 5 pounds, he’s an Australian shepherd/Pomeranian mix who loves toys, the great outdoors, and his people. There’s a lot of energy in this happy boy, but he also likes to relax and snuggle. Joseph is 4 months old. He’s good in his crate, working at potty training, and is starting to figure out walking on a leash. Joseph absolutely loves other dogs and would love to have an active dog BFF. He chases balls, has fantastic zoomies, and wants to win every game of tag. We bet he’d be a natural at agility or dog sports. Joseph would love a home with a physical, fenced yard where he could race around and have fun. He’d love an active person who will take him on adventures. This happy boy is being fostered in the St. Louis area. ##2628704##

Story
We’re not sure about Veronica’s backstory, but we know that she’s likely been through a lot. It seems as if someone wasn’t always very nice to her because she shuts down in some situations. But she does want to be right with her person, following closely on their heels. We think Veronica is about 6 years old. She is a gorgeous Australian shepherd with a gentle personality. While she is recovering from heartworm treatment, she still has energy and wants to play.  Veronica is deaf and has limited vision. She’s very smart and has learned several touch commands including “good girl” and “come.” She is learning to walk nicely on a leash and is housebroken. She sleeps nicely in her pen overnight. Veronica would do best in a home with a friendly dog to help give her confidence. She does not like being left alone for very long, so she’d love someone who is home most of the day. She’d love an active person because she loves to explore and go on adventures. She’d prefer a physical, fenced yard to keep her safe. This sweet, beautiful Aussie is being fostered in the St. Louis area.  ##2378212##

Story
Sweet senior Stevie is a handsome guy who loves taking walks, wandering around his yard, and hanging out with his human. Just about 10 years old, Stevie is likely an Australian shepherd mix. He's pretty low energy in the house. He gets really excited when it’s time to go for a walk and he jumps up and down at dinner time. Stevie likes to lie at the top of the porch steps and just watch what’s going on in the yard. He comes in when called, especially if there’s a snack involved. He knows “out” and “eat” and is working on “place” and “touch.” Stevie has excellent house manners. He’s potty trained and has never had an accident. He doesn’t chew or get into things. Stevie gets along well with calm, respectful dogs. He’s been good with the kids he’s met when he’s been out and about. He’d love a home where someone isn’t gone all day. He’d really enjoy a fenced yard because he sure loves to spend time outside, just soaking in the sunshine. Stevie is a little shy at first, but comes out of his shell as he gets to know you. This sweet boy is being fostered in the St. Louis area. Please fill out an application: https://www.speakrescue.com/pre-adoption-form ##2527563##

Story
Arwen’s story is heartbreaking. She was dropped off at an emergency vet’s office with a horrific injury across her back. The area was infected and swarming with maggots. The vet’s office worked tenaciously to heal this sweet girl with the awful pain. No matter what medical procedures she endured, she greeted them with a wagging tail and wonderful disposition. In the meantime, her people vanished and never checked on her again. Now we are on the quest to find this beautiful and gentle Australian shepherd the happy ending she deserves. Arwen is about 4-5 years old. She is fairly mellow and, although she can be playful, she wouldn’t mind being a couch potato much of the day. She loves to cuddle with her humans and thinks snuggling is just the best. Arwen is completely housetrained, does well in her crate, and is working on leash training. She’s pretty polite in the house and has lovely manners. Arwen is deaf and is learning hand signals. She understands “sit” and “no” and is working on other signs. She’s very food motivated and is eager to show off for treats. Arwen would prefer a physical, fenced yard because she absolutely loves being outside. She would love a big yard where she could roam and explore. She barks at the door when she needs to go potty or would like to go play. Arwen is very friendly with other dogs and would enjoy having a friendly fur sibling. Because she has a patch of fur that might not grow back, she wears a shirt in the cold and will need to be protected in the sun. She has the most remarkable blue eyes and the cutest head tilt. Sweet Arwen is being fostered in the St. Louis area. Because the trip here was tough on her, we’d like to keep her adopted relatively locally.  ##2641490##

Story
Floofy Cole absolutely loves to snuggle. He’ll come park himself at your feet – or drape himself over your shoes – just to be close. This sweet Australian shepherd puppy was being kept in an outbuilding in subzero temps with his brother, but is now safe and warm. Cole is silly and playful. He loves prancing around with toys and dive-bombing his brother. He has so much fun exploring the backyard and getting bursts of zoomies. He is deaf and has low vision, but can follow people and pups when they are nearby. Cole is working on potty training and is doing well in his pen. He does a fantastic job navigating his world but would love a friendly dog buddy to continue to build his confidence. Cole would prefer a home with a physical, fenced yard, where someone is around a lot of the day. Herding dog experience would be a big plus. Cole is being fostered in the metro Atlanta area but can be adopted elsewhere to the absolute best home. Please fill out an application at: https://www.speakrescue.com/pre-adoption-form  ##2649745##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Spirit is a young Border Collie who was adopted recently by her current owner from what that owner describes as 'a bad situation.'  Her owner says Spirit is a lovely dog but is not fitting in with the resident dogs in her current home, and so is available for adoption. While Spirit and the resident dogs in her current home do not get along, this does not mean that Spirit will react negatively to all dogs in general; however, a potential owner should be aware of this and that Spirit may want to be an only dog in her home.  She is accepting of adults and older children, but will chase cats if the opportunity arises.  Since Spirit is living in Kentucky and is not being kept on heartworm preventive, she will need to be tested for heartworm and a potential owner should make this a priority. Spirit's current owner says that she is a 'Shy loving border collie that needs someone who knows how to work with them. Might not like other dogs.' If you are interested in meeting Spirit or learning more about her, please contact her current owner at hatfield.michelle@gmail.comVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 3:42 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Snickers is a resident in the Campbell County (TN) Animal Center, and the staff at the Center are seeking a foster or permanent home for him, as he is stressed in the shelter environment.   If you are interested in Snickers, please contact the Animal Center through their website or at the phone number given below.  Here is what they say about Snickers, a young BC/Aussie mix: Do you need a little Snickers in your life?? A yummy nougat encased in creamy chocolate to “make you feel you” as the famous advertisement states. This wonderful boy is a Aussie border collie mix. He is approximately 3 years old and weighs 60 pounds. Snickers has the kindest eyes that will melt your heart. To be honest he is struggling in the shelter. Although he is safe, knows he has delicious meals served daily and daily walks he would benefit greatly being in a foster or permanent home. Snickers is a fluffy black and white male, with white front legs and black back legs. He is very smart and is craving to be mentally and physically challenged. His breed mix desires to be trained, given commands and lots of mental stimulus. The shelter is a very loud and is over capacity so he is fearful of his current situation. Each day he improves and when he goes outside for his walks he does a cute little trot of a dance to celebrate. Snickers tail is the short stub that wiggles when he is outside smelling everything Mother Nature has to offer. So what does Snickers need?? A loving patient family that will allow him to relax and trust humans. He would enjoy a bubble bath and a nice brushing to make his black and white coat shine. Snickers is food motivated so his training will be fun and engaging for his new partner. So come in and meet this precious soul and let your heart melt with his sugary sweetness.   The Campbell County Animal Shelter adoption center is open Tuesday - Saturday, 12:00 - 5:30 PM at 749 Towe String Road, Jacksboro, TN 37757   Phone: 423-566-8018   Adoption applications can also be completed online at fccanimals.org  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 5, 2025, 8:56 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. The Center for Animal Rescue and Enrichment (CARE) of St Louis MO is seeking a forever home for Nancy Drew, a young BC mix who has been in their shelter since last September when she was picked up stray in the St Louis area. Nancy is a sweet young dog who is in need of a home where dog behavior is understood and she can receive the training she needs.  Her puppy behaviors of jumping and barking can be managed and the sooner she is adopted and out of the shelter, the sooner that positive training can begin, which will allow Nancy to be the friendly youngster that the shelter workers know. Because of her shelter environment, some things are not known about Nancy:  how she rides in a car, how she behaves around children, etc.  However, her overall personality is that of a dog who wants to learn things and be with people.   If you want to know more about Nancy Drew or make an appointment to meet her, please contact CARE St Louis at adopt@icarestl.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 2, 2025, 12:20 pm
