Story
Annie was rescued from an Amish puppy mill in Northern Ohio. She has been with a foster since February 15th, and has done great in every way. She is extremely sweet and loving. She is friendly with other dogs, and loves people and especially children. She is is excellent health and has been fully vaccinated and spayed. She is good on a leash and housetrained. She has a moderate activity level—she loves to run around the yard or go for a brisk walk but is also happy to be in the house and chill. Please call 502-445-2749 if you have an interest in making her a wonderful part of your life and family.

Story
Cooper is a 44lb male Aussie/American Shepherd mix and just turned 3 years old on October 22nd. He was raised with other dogs but he needs a home where he is the only dog. (We are needing to rehome him due to him and our other male not getting along). We are heartbroken, but we know going to a new home that meets his needs will be best for him. He is a loyal, sweet, empathetic dog who needs stability. He is potty and crate trained (we have a crate for him to take to his new home). He has never showed aggression to people and gets a long with men and women. While we don’t have kids he has always been friendly with kids he’s met. He likes to keep busy! He is very smart and catches on to routines and commands very easily. Cooper is neutered, and is up to date on his shots. He current date on flea/tick prevention, and he is also microchipped. He has some anxiety and needs someone who is patient & prepared for Aussie anxiety. He’s a great companion & deserves only the very best in life!

Story
Ryder was found at a construction site by workers. He was skin and bones! Between the skin infection and being starved, he had given up. He's been in a foster home since then and recovered nicely, physically. He does have trust issues that have to be earned. He is fearful of men, and seems to attach to one person. He is getting a long nicely with his fur siblings, but we do not recommend  home with children. He isnt the type of the dog that likes 'hugs' or anyone getting too close to his face, so a home without children is best.  He would be best in a home with other animals. He has done great with cats in his foster home. He is working on crate training, but so far he is not fan! He is a great watch dog and will alert you to someone or something. He is mostly house trained He loves to play ball, run, and learn new commands. A fence yard is preferred  If you would like to make Ryder a part of your family, fill out an application at www.barktownrescue.org    RYDER'S ADOPTION FEE IS $170The shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at the dog's predominant breed or breed mix. We strongly encourage you to select your new pet by looking at each dog's individual personality and pet qualities rather than relying on a breed label that is only our best guess.    Our adoption fees vary from $150 and up.  All of our dogs are up to date on vaccines, heart worm preventives, and flea/tick medication, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Portions of your adoption fee also help care for the sick and injured animals that we take in.  Thank you for supporting us and considering a rescue dog!    April 29, 2024, 2:25 pm

Story
Meet SHERLOCK-Paws Behind Bars Trained SHERLOCK is a 1-year-old male, Aussie? mix who weighs 40 lbs. We feel he is very close to his mature weight. We are guessing at his breed mix only because of his beautiful merle coat and his energy level. This guy is very friendly and very active. SHERLOCK is very outgoing, and he's good with other dogs. He came to us from a local shelter where he was picked up as a stray. More than likely, someone got him as a puppy and then was not able to provide the proper amount of exercise. Thanks to our volunteers, he'll get to go on long walks so we can get an idea of when he throttles it back a bit. His perfect family should be active. A good fenced in yard and another young dog to play with are also desired. IMPORTANT: Please Keep in mind both the age and life expectancy of Sherlock. Our guiding principle for adoptions is to seek the right fit for our rescues and the families, including a home that can stay committed to the animal for life. If interested in adopting SHERLOCK, our process begins with submission of our online application which can be found at www.adoptmebluegrasspetrescue.com. Additional FAQ's can be found here also. Meets will be set with approved applicants. Thank you!
