Story
Vera is a 10 week old Australian shepherd mix. She came to us with her 8 siblings from a shelter in Kentucky. Vera has been with us for 4 weeks already and is such an amazing girl. She currently lives in a home with kids and large dogs that also has sheep and pigs! Her foster states that she is about 90% potty trained and goes to the door to ask to go out the majority of the time. She is a very adventurous and playful girl who loves to chew bones and sleeps on her back with her legs up in the air. Vera is spayed, microchipped, UTD on puppy shots and ready to find her forever home!      If you are viewing this pet's profile on Petfinder or Adopt-a-Pet,.please use the application link at the bottom of the profile to apply. “HI ALL!!! My name is Tina (but I answer to hand signals!) I’m under 4years old as much as I love my friends here I really would LOVE a foster or forever home that can help me along- I have had a hard time training due to being deaf and some people just don’t understand me:( I would require a new parent to be very understanding and knowledgeable regarding hearing impaired pets or willing to work with me. I have been returned a few times due to my mouth getting me into trouble:( But, I know my forever home is out there!!! I’m the best girl ever I promise and I would LOVE a place to call home for now or permanently that has prior experience with a deaf puppy!!!”   ##575157##

Story
Hi, I'm Abby! I have been at the shelter for a while now and really want to find my forever home. I am an Aussie/ heeler mix and have the personality to match. I will fit best with somebody who is willing to invest in dog training and has experience with herding dogs. If you give me a little time to learn what you want from me, I know I will make you happy. I prefer a human with an active lifestyle and want a fenced yard to run in to keep me physically active. Since I'm a very intelligent dog, I would love to have my brain challenged! I would prefer a home without other animals or children. I have some arthritis in my hips and the vet has found a protocol that keeps me comfortable. Feel free to ask us about it!Please come meet me soon!DOB 8/8/20 44 poundsI'm waiting for a home to call my own. email webmaster@petrefuge.com to learn more about me or fill out an application at https://www.petrefuge.com/adoptPet Refuge was formed in 1978 to help with cats and dogs in need of homes. Story
If you are looking for a loyal, loving, relational companion, please consider adopting Abby. She is a special girl who has some special needs so we are looking for a special adopter just for her. The first step in adopting Abby will be to email us at pets@michianapets.org to request an application. But one step before that is to read about Abby's perfect adopter...and hopefully it is you. Her ideal home would be with someone who has experience with herding dogs as well as sensitive, fearful dogs. A slow pace when getting to know others is the perfect way to set her up for success. A calm, introverted home environment is just what Abby is looking for. We want to see her feel safe in a home, so a home with lots of visitors is not what she needs. A busy neighborhood with neighbors in close proximity would be something that would stress Abby out. A quiet neighborhood/environment would be best for her! She takes time to learn that someone is her friend, but the more she gets to know you, the more she trusts you and the more over-the-moon for you she is when she sees you. It is amazing to see her go from being scared and untrusting to having entire body wiggles and wanting to be close to you. She is the smartest girl ever. Abby knows sit, come, stay, lay down, speak and shake with her right paw and left paw! If you have time to teach her, we're sure there isn't any behavior she couldn't learn. A few of her favorite things to do are going for walks, going for car rides, snuggling and running. Abby will do best in a home as the only pet. She has not been reactive to dogs on walks and redirects nicely when asked to do so. So, she is okay with dogs at a distance but when she is in close-proximity she is not comfortable and we want her to be totally comfortable in her new home. She asks for anyone in the home to be teenagers and older. We're so excited for Abby to find her family. She is about four years old, is 53 pounds and is spayed. Please be patient while she is getting to know you. She is worth the extra effort...trust us.
