Story
Pixel is a 3 - 5 yr old female Australian Shepherd. She has a medium energy level, so she should fit well into most homes provided she receives a moderate amount of daily exercise and play. She is loose and wiggly when greeting, and likes to sit by her person for snuggles and kisses. Pixel does pull on a leash, but with basic obedience training, she should be walking like a champ in no time! She is food motivated, and knows the commands sit and down. She mixes well with other dogs in a kennel and is indifferent towards cats in the shelter environment. Dogs are generally tested with dogs of their own size; and dog meets with the resident dogs are always encouraged. Our cat test should be used as a general-purpose screening only to rule out overt aggression; we always recommend caution when introducing dogs to cats in the home. Recommendation on suitability of placement with children by their ages is based on behavioral observations including energy level and response to body handling. We never recommend leaving young children unsupervised with dogs, and we cannot guarantee the behavior of dogs with children, other pets, or cats. Behavior evaluations should be considered as a snapshot of the behavior of the dog at this point in time; JHS believes all dog families need to be prepared to invest time and energy into training as well as provide common sense management of their new dog. We always encourage family to do some research on the breeds or mixes of breeds prior to adoption as many can have some unique characteristics that may or may not fit into their families. Always remember that the majority of dogs at our shelter have been exposed to or may have kennel cough. Kennel cough is contagious to other dogs, please talk to your vet if you have any questions about kennel cough prior to adoption. Please ask your adoption counselor at time of adoption if you have any unanswered questions regarding illnesses and treatments of the pet that you are adopting. Story
Luna is a 1 - 2 yr old female Australian Shepherd mix. She has a high energy level, so she would benefit from an active family with a fenced yard and plenty of space for daily exercise and play. She is loose and wiggly when greeting, and comes when called for snuggles. She also loves to hop up into your lap for hugs and kisses. Luna does moderately pull on a leash, but with basic obedience training, she should be walking like a champ in no time! She is food motivated, and knows the commands sit and shake. She mixes well with other dogs in a kennel, but is not a fan of cats in the shelter environment. Dogs are generally tested with dogs of their own size; and dog meets with the resident dogs are always encouraged. Story
Bold and brave Billings is a smart, calm, lovable and well-behaved dog looking for a loyal companion. He survived living on the streets as a stray and is ready to find a loving home. Billings is great on a leash and loves to take walks. He is amazing with other dogs!Billings would do best in a quiet home with appropriate introductions to new people. He loves sitting in your lap and getting all the belly rubs he can get. He knows commands: crate, sit down, wait. He can be protective of his own territory. Can be reactive to sharp noises. He is house trained, threshold trained and trained to sit and wait to start eating until released. All of our pets are fixed, up to date on their vaccinations, and microchipped.
