Story
We are honored to introduce our lovely Miss Violet. She may be the oldest animal that we currently have on shelter, but she more than makes up for it with her sheer level of sass and spunk, and perfect good manners.Violet came into our care after being dumped from a truck in between two Good Samaritans’ properties, and staff all fell in love. We were very upset when during a routine exam, it was discovered that she had mammary lumps. Because she was over 10 years old at the time of recent spay, it is more than likely that those lumps are cancerous. At her appointment to discuss prognosis and care options, we learned that the lumps were of much less object than her previously unknown Congestive Heart Disease. At the time of diagnosis, she was actually asymptomatic and remains so. We began a standard medication regime as a preventative measure, and she is continuing to do well. She will eventually progress from heart disease into Congestive Heart Failure. But because we have caught it early, because she remains asymptomatic, and because her overall health is quite stable, we have full confidence that she still has a great and full life ahead of her. Heart murmurs are unpredictable, so we are not comfortable putting a number on the amount of time we have left. However, we also do not want to be quick to slot this as a hospice case. It is very important for us to find the best possible placement for her, one that has full understanding that she is a senior dog with a health condition and will accommodate for her as well as managing and affording medication for the rest of her life. We have full confidence that she can live a normal and full life, but we want any future adopter to go in with full knowledge of this. If you have any questions about Violet, feel free to call the center at (417) 592-2512 or shoot me an email at adopt.ffaa@gmail.com

Story
Free to good home. My fiancé rescued Rome almost a year and half ago from abusive home. he’s a reactive dog set in his way. He needs a home that doesn’t have any kids nor other dogs with a yard. It breaks my heart that I have to get rid of him but he almost bit my daughter twice, and bit my other dog He’s a very sweet loving dog, but the people who had him before us truly traumatized him. he knows basic commands. We are pretty sure he’s around 4 years old.

Story
Behaviors- Shy & timid since he is still learning to trust people and to be a dog. Quiet, sweet, & gentle. Cats: Great Other dogs: Great Children: Great Adults: Great Potty Training Progress: He does well on a consistent schedule. His foster takes him out every 3-4 hours during the day. Crate trained: He finds his crate to be his safe place. He sleeps in his crate at night and has not had any accidents. Other behavioral info: Still very shy and timid, tries to hide in couch cushions or behind furniture unless you’re holding him. He opens up with dogs but is still scared of people. If you hold and snuggle him, he is fine. Springsteen will need A LOT of love and patience. He is the sweetest little dog, and he hasn’t made a single sound since coming into foster. Foster still has to help him out of his crate when it’s time to potty, but he does well outside. Foster carries him outside because he is not leash trained and is too scared to walk out on his own. He MUST be kept on a leash even in fenced yard, as he will run and hide and may be hard to catch. Definitely a flight risk so a fenced yard will be required. Other than not understanding people yet, he is the softest, sweetest and most handsome little man. He has one brown eye and one blue eye. Springsteen is going to make an amazing dog; he just needs a lot of love and reassurance. He would also do great in a home with another canine sibling. Aussies are incredibly intelligent working dogs; he will thrive with future training and an active family with other canine siblings.
