Story
Tucker is a sweet, house-trained dog looking for a calm home. He came from long-term shelter life and does best without small children or other pets, though he's improved greatly; he mostly ignores cats and prefers to move away from high-energy dogs or kids. Tucker has done well meeting calm dogs and even has a few friends, but may react if cornered and sometimes barks at scooters/skateboards. Tucker loves leash walks (sniffing everything!), treats, rope toys, belly rubs, and butt scritches. He's gentle in the home, stays off counters, and leaves household items alone. Tucker currently lives with my parents, and we're rehoming due to their upcoming move to assisted living related to progressing Parkinson's and concerns for tripping. I cannot safely take him back with two young children in a literal tiny home. Health-wise, he's vaccinated, on preventatives, with past Ehrlichia (treated years ago, no flare-ups). He has a sensitive stomach and does well on Purina ONE Digestive Health.

Story
Meet Ellie — A Gentle Soul Ready for Her Second Chance 1–2 years old • Australian Shepherd mix • 45 lbsSpayed • Heartworm Negative • Up-to-date on vaccines & preventions Ellie’s story began in a place no dog should ever be — she and her sister, Amber, were left at the shelter to be euthanized. While Amber is bravely staying in Louisiana to undergo heartworm treatment, Ellie was given the chance to step forward and begin her next chapter. And she is quietly, beautifully deserving of it. Ellie is a sweet, gentle Australian Shepherd mix with a soft spirit and a loving heart. She can be a little bashful at first, but she warms up quickly once she feels safe. Ellie truly enjoys being around people and often chooses human companionship over anything else — she’s happiest when she’s close to her person. Why Ellie Is So Special    •    Gets along wonderfully with all other dogs    •    Gentle-natured but loves to play — don’t let her calm demeanor fool you; she absolutely enjoys a good romp in the yard    •    Sweet, affectionate, and quietly loyal once she warms up    •    Enjoys going for walks and does well on a leash    •    Crate trained and keeps her crate clean overnight    •    Still a bit hesitant to go into her crate on her own, but improving daily with treats and encouragement Ellie has the perfect balance of calm and playful. She’s happy to run and wrestle with her dog friends, then settle in beside you for quiet companionship. Ellie Is Ready for Her Forever After coming so close to losing everything, Ellie deserves a home where she will always feel safe, loved, and secure. She would thrive in a home that values patience, gentle bonding, and a dog who truly wants to connect with her people. If you’re looking for: a gentle but fun-loving companion a dog who enjoys both playtime and snuggles a loyal soul with a grateful heart Ellie may be the one you’ve been waiting for.  If you would like Ellie to join your family please fill out an adoption application.  Her $475 adoption fee covers all medical care up to adoption to include vaccines, Spay, microchip, foster care and transportation from Louisiana to NY. ##2616399##

Story
She is 3 years old. She is 55 lbs. I got her from a friend. She is a very sweet dog loves attention. I'm looking for a good home for her where she can be loved and get the attention she deserves. Someone with a fenced in backyard where she run around. We don't have a lot of space or big enough yard for her to run around. She likes Wegmans nature. Her preference flavor is chicken and salmon. She tends to be picky with other foods.

Story
🐾 ROMEO's owner had to move and could no longer keep him - but he's the most gorgeous little puppy. Vet aged at 12 weeks old, playful, and snuggly, Romeo will steal your heart for sure! More pics and info to come once we get from his foster. We've got him vetted to age. He's 11 lbs now. 👉 Adoption fee INCLUDES: all vetting to age (including deworming, flea & tick etc), spay/neuter and microchip (if the dog is under 6 months, alter and chip will occur after they're 6 months, covered in full at our clinic or reimbursed partially at a vet of your choosing). If the dog is older than 6 months and not yet altered, we will schedule ASAP (normally within 30 days) at our clinic . We also provide as an incentive a $60 rebate for completion of positive-based training classes. Adoption also includes lifetime support of the rescue. 💜 Please click PURPLE BUTTON above to apply or go to www.secondhanddogrescue.com/apply ! ✍ APPLICATION PROCESSING: We do most application processing virtually and dog meets will be individually by appointment with ONLY APPROVED APPLICANTS. We are not a shelter and are completely volunteer foster-based, so there is no central place to come see all of the dogs available. 📌 IMPORTANT NOTES: ** Housetraining with rescues is sometimes a work in progress and even if a dog is 100% in a foster's home, it should be expected there will be an adjustment period as a dog adapts to a new environment. This is even more true if the dog has not by chance had their altering appointment at time of adoption. ** Also, we highly recommend some form of 2-week shutdown and decompression for dogs going to a new home for best results. --> Lastly, breed guesses in rescue are just that (GUESSES!!) 99.9% of the time. We do not do DNA testing and our breed guesses are based on appearance and sometimes other traits, but we know the dog breed guessing game is a fool's errand even for those with LOTS of experience. 🗺 ADOPTION AREA: several hour radius of Rochester, NY (Canada within 3 hours IS allowed, except that young puppies need to be old enough to have gotten their rabies vaccination to cross the border - usually around 16 weeks)

Almond Joy, mmmm. A little nutty, a lotta sweet. I am made of love, sunshine and SUGAR!! Here is what my foster has to say: "Almond Joy came in as a mama with one pup. Story
Introducing Zeke, a truly remarkable pup whose heartwarming spirit and playful energy are ready to light up a new home. Zeke is a handsome, resilient boy who, through no fault of his own, found himself searching for a new home. He's more than ready to embark on his next chapter, seeking a loving, forever family to call his own. Zeke is a bundle of joyful energy, known for his silliness and ability to bring a smile to anyone's face. While he may start off shy, it doesn't take long for his true personality to shine through. He quickly becomes an enthusiastic playmate who thrives on the company of other dogs and will gleefully encourage them to play. Zeke is a smart and well-mannered companion. He is potty-trained and comfortable in his crate. He also knows basic commands like "sit" and "go to your room," and his eagerness to please makes him a joy to train further. While he’s working on managing his excitement (which sometimes results in enthusiastic leaps!), his good intentions are always clear. Walks are a highlight of his day, offering him a chance to explore and burn off some of that youthful energy. His barks will let you know precisely when he needs to go outside or when he hears you approaching the door. If you’re seeking an active, affectionate, and charming dog who promises boundless love and entertainment, Zeke could be the perfect addition to your home. Local adoption fee is $200(in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $450 (includes transport to your area)
