Story
Valley Girl. This little girl is the sweetest. Initially found as a stray, Valley was facing euthanasia as she was so scared in the shelter environment. You ought to see her run and play with the other dogs now! Valley is a little shy initially but once you've earned her trust, she's a joyful, happy, funny, silly, sweet affectionate pup. All it takes is a little patience to reap her as your incredible reward. Valley is approximately 3 yrs. old and 35 lbs. She's the perfect sized pooch! Want more info on Valley Girl? We don't blame you a bit. Don't call! Go to: www.AlmostHomeDogRescueNC.com to submit your no-cost/ no-obligation adoption application. An Adoption Coach will then reach out by phone to tell you all about this special girl. Follow us on Facebook @AlmostHomeDogRescueNC

Story
Meet Haley, a loyal, sweet, and smart nine-month-old pup who is looking for her forever home. Haley is a playful girl who needs to be around medium to large dogs, or as an only dog. While she loves to play, she's also calm and loves to snuggle as long as she's had her exercise. Haley has been through level one obedience training and is house trained. She's up-to-date on all her shots, has been on heartworm and flea medication, and is about 45 pounds. She's met and loved younger children but would do best with children 12 and older. Haley has learned commands such as sit, down, heel, off, no, place, stay, drop it, come, and wait at the door. She still needs reinforcement with these commands, so an experienced dog parent would be ideal for her. In addition to being well-behaved indoors, Haley loves to run with her teen human companion and play fetch. She's crate, house-trained, and can come in and out of a dog door. It breaks my heart to give her up, but I know she'll thrive in the right

Story
That’s right, I check ALL the boxes!  I’m an adorable Aussie mix (maybe border collie) who has good house manners and gets along with most other dogs and people.  I am affectionate, entertaining, and eager to please.  And I need a family who can meet my needs and check all the boxes for ME! My foster mom gives me LOTS of walks and exercise but a securely fenced in yard would make life a lot better for me ‘cause I really like to run!  I also need lots of walks or hikes, so an active adopter would be a great fit for me.  Agility anyone?  But don’t get the wrong idea – I also LOVE to chill out in the house giving kisses and snuggles and getting tummy rubs.  My foster mom loves that I’m quiet and I wake her up with kisses.  Who needs an alarm clock?  And to top off all my other wonderful qualities, I’m quite handsome!  Of course, no one is perfect (though I come pretty darn close) .  I am not a fan of cyclists or people on scooters, or the bike trail and they are everywhere!  When I’m not afraid of them, I’m trying to chase them.  My foster mom is working on these issues and is learning to manage them with the help of a trainer but my new family will need to continue working on these with me or live in a less urban area for my safety and wellbeing.  I am smart and, like I said, eager to please! One box that is especially important is I need an adopter who has experience with my breed or a similar breed.  As you know, we are quite the athletes and have unique needs and we really don’t want an adopter who will be surprised by and unprepared for all that entails.  No doubt, general admiration for my breed and my dazzling looks will attract a lot of adoption applications.  Since the goal here is to set both me and my new family up to succeed, please make sure you “check the boxes” and are a good fit for me.  Thank you for your interest.  I hope to meet you soon! Taki is neutered, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, and is currently on flea and tick and heartworm prevention.April 29, 2024, 5:26 pm

Story
Nala is a 1.5 year old Aussie mix that we adopted from the Greenville, SC animal shelter. She is a sweet and energetic dog who wants to play and run around all day. She lives in a house with cats and a younger dog and she has always been very gentle with them/respected their boundaries. Her favorite toys are plushie toys with squeakers in them; she will carry them around the house with her all day. She also enjoys chew toys when she is relaxing and tug toys that she can use with her human or with another dog. She is a very smart dog so she knows several tricks and commands that we use on a daily basis. We have never seen her around children, but I think with her playful attitude, she would do well with having a child or more dogs to play with.

Story
Hi! My name is Donut! Cute, huh? I was born on June 14, 2022. I was adopted from Heart of the Foothills as a puppy, but then ended up at the animal shelter in another county. The shelter contacted Heart since they were listed on my microchip. They were not able to ever reach my adoptive parents, so I went back to Heart and have been there ever since.I'm an Australian Shepherd, so I'm very sweet, but also very high energy. My very favorite thing to do is run around outside. I could run forever! I'd really love a home with a fenced in yard to help keep me safe while I explore and play. I also really love my swimming pool!I'm a very smart guy; I know several commands. I am friendly with other dogs, so if you already have a pup, I'd love to make friends with them! I would do best in an active household with older children. I'm still a young dog, so sometimes I don't understand my strength. I'm very friendly, but I may be a little much for a small child. I currently weigh about 50 pounds; I shouldn't get too much bigger, no more than about 60.I'd really love a home of my own with my very own forever family. If you're looking for a new best friend, please give me a chance! If you are interested in adopting this animal please fill out an application at heartofthefoothills.org/adopt.
