Story
** COURTESY POST ** ** This animal is NOT at the Rowlett Animal Shelter, so please do not inquire with them ** ** For information contact Tracy Johnson; 214-697-7362 ** Meet Scout (aka Muffin.  The shelter called her Muffin, but we felt Scout was a better fit.  Feel free to re-name her when she is yours).  This soft-coated, beautiful dog is being fostered by our son in who is a college student in Waco, but Scout frequently visits us in Rowlett and will be with us most of July.  Scout is believed to be an Australian Shepherd mix, approximately 2 years old.  She is energetic, smart and loves to cuddle.  She is trained to sit & fetch, loves to go on walks and can entertain herself with her toys.   I cannot say enough wonderful things about Scout and would love to keep her, however we recommend that Scout goes to a home where she will be the only pet. She LOVES humans, smiles when she sees them, but Scout does not get along with other dogs (of any size) or cats.   Our male dog was incompatible with Scout as he can be skittish and aggressive.   After getting to know this sweet girl, we are confident she will be an amazing pet for the right person or family.  Scout is a true angel with our special needs nephew. Actually, everyone Scout meets falls in love with her, especially the neighborhood kids.   She is also great in the car (road trips or running errands)  she’s a little doll in public stores.   Also, she rarely has an accident in the house and is crate trained. Scout has been spayed.  At this time, she is heartworm positive, but scheduled for treatment in Waco on July 17th.   We will take care of this expense and will provide heartworm prevention medication for one year. We are committed to finding her a home as the Waco shelter does euthanize and we are not going to allow that to happen. Please contact us if you are interested.   We have plenty of videos and pictures to share.February 23, 2024, 7:45 pm

Story
Jade and her sister were dumped in the country when they were just a few months old. Sadly, she has been in foster care for 8 months and she would love to have a family to call her own. Her sister went to Canada a couple of months ago and was adopted so Jade is without her playmate. Jade is a very sweet girl with an easy going personality.  She is great with dogs of all sizes, cats and children.  She is crate trained and rides well in the car. Jade is a submissive girl who loves affection.  She just turned a year old and her adoption fee is $200. ##1698694##

Story
Abbie loves everyone she meets (including children) and adores her furry playmates. She has had several roommates here at the shelter and done well with all of them. Abbie is potty trained and doing well at walking on leash. At 94 days and counting, she's currently our longest-term resident. She would enjoy nothing more than meeting you and seeing if you could be her very own happily-ever-after. She is already spayed, fully vaccinated and heartworm negative. All she's missing is her family! Check her out today! This sweet lovebug deserves so much better than a shelter kennel.

ADOPTION APPLICATION REQUIRED and can be found here. https://www.twistedbranchaussies.com/adoptions-surrenders.html --------------------------------- Look at that face! This is Chachi, and he is a 5 month old Lab/Aussie/Border Collie mix according to his DNA test. Just imagine what an incredible breed mix that is! Chachi is curious, intelligent, and loving. He’s very focused and is already working on obedience commands. He loves to play with toys and other dogs, and would probably love some older children to play with. Although Chachi gets along with other dogs very well, we don’t know how he would do in a home with cats. Chachi currently weighs 35 pounds, so he will be a rather big boy, all the more reason to continue his training so he can be the best boy possible! Chachi is in excellent health, with a good appetite, good energy, and a beautiful coat. He has received all of his parvo/distemper vaccinations as well as bordatella for kennel cough, but will need his rabies vaccination done by his adopter when he is neutered. He has been dewormed, microchipped, and is current on flea and heartworm preventatives. Chachi is available for a $300 adoption fee on a Neuter Contract that requires that his adopter has him neutered when old enough.

Story
Meet delightful and charming Boomer, a mixed breed youngster picked up as a stray on 11/18 and brought to the Mesquite Animal Shelter. Boomer weighs 52 pounds and is about a year old. This is a boy with tons of puppy energy and enthusiasm. He has a zest for living! He is high-spirited and energetic. He does jump on you and that will need to be addressed. In fact, manners training would be an excellent idea for this pup and help to make him more adoptable. He walks well on a leash. He pottied in the yard. He loves treats and seems quite treat-motivated, perhaps making the training process somewhat easier. He is athletic and climbed on the play equipment in our yard. He is friendly, affectionate and is more than happy to receive loving attention. His soft, fluffy coat is perfect for cuddling and hugging, This would a good fit for a person or family with an active lifestyle. He will need daily playtime, exercise and enrichment and his dream home is one in which he would have playtime in the yard but be able to live with his peeps as an inside dog. Until he can be taught that it is bad manners to jump on people, Boomer would probably not be suited for a family with very small children.
