Meet Elmer! If you`re looking for a sweet hound companion, you`ve found him! Elmer walks well on a leash and really enjoys walking on trails. No surprise, he leads with his nose and is in heaven when you let him take his time to sniff and explore. He is picky about his treats and would rather take them from the ground than your hand. Elmer has shown some interest in toys and would likely enjoy them once he`s settled into a home environment. Meet Luca! Luca is a wonderful dog who has just the perfect balance of chill and play. He currently lives with 2 other dogs in his foster home. Luca is great in the car and enjoys rides, walks and his chew bones. Luca does need two 20 minute walks a day. He walks really well on a leash with regular stops for hound sniffing! Luca is a great communicator. He lets you know what he wants when he wants it and is extremely happy with himself when he gets his point across. He does have the most enthusiastic and spirited howl to let you know if you are taking too long to get his food in the bowl or talking to someone else too long on his walks 😂 Luca will scratch on the door when he wants to go in and out or is known to dump the leash and toy baskets on the floor to let you know it’s time to go! His foster has learned to keep counters clear for he does have a great sense of smell with a body that can reach great distances. He LOVES attention and has a VERY sweet temperament! Luca is such a great dog you just can’t help but fall in love with him. Gus is the sweetest, chilled boy you would ever want to meet.  Even though he has not been treated well, he still loves people.  He was picked up as a stray by one of the local county animal controls and nobody came looking for him.  He is great with other dogs and kids.  Not sure about cats but the hounds we have taken in the past are usually good with cats.   Unfortunately our little man is heart worm positive and will start treatment after neuter surgery and removal of several masses.  He is a couch potato who likes to watch TV with dogs on it and just snuggle with his people.  If you are looking for a friend who loves to go for sniff walks and snuggle in a comfy bed and watch TV with you,  Gus is your boy!   If you are looking for a loyal outdoor companion with a heart of gold, say hello to Kahlua—an 8-year-old Treewalker Coonhound mix who defines “good ole’ boy” in the best possible way. Around 60 pounds of love and sweetness, Kahlua lives for sunshine, breezes, rustling leaves, and long, thoughtful walks. He’s the kind of dog who doesn’t rush through life—he notices everything, appreciates the little things, and reminds you to slow down and enjoy the moment. Kahlua has impeccable manners. Need to tie your shoe? He’ll stop and wait. Collar slips off? He’ll walk right over so you can fix it. He listens beautifully and truly wants to please his person. He also has a fun side—he loves squeaky toys, playing fetch (sharing the ball is a work in progress!), giving kisses, and being tucked in under cozy blankets like the pampered hound he is.  This boy is also a lake and boat enthusiast—a true water bug who will happily join you for every lakeside adventure. He grew up with other dogs and prefers being the “big guy,” doing well with respectful smaller dogs or calmer companions. Solo walks? He’s relaxed and steady. With bigger, energetic dogs? He may pull a bit in excitement. Kahlua loves kids who treat him kindly and is friendly toward cats, even though he didn’t share a home with them before. Kahlua’s former mama adored him deeply but faced life changes that made caring for him impossible.
