Story
Meet Luca! Luca is a wonderful dog who has just the perfect balance of chill and play. He currently lives with 2 other dogs in his foster home. Luca is great in the car and enjoys rides, walks and his chew bones. Luca does need two 20 minute walks a day. He walks really well on a leash with regular stops for hound sniffing! Luca is a great communicator. He lets you know what he wants when he wants it and is extremely happy with himself when he gets his point across. He does have the most enthusiastic and spirited howl to let you know if you are taking too long to get his food in the bowl or talking to someone else too long on his walks 😂 Luca will scratch on the door when he wants to go in and out or is known to dump the leash and toy baskets on the floor to let you know it’s time to go! His foster has learned to keep counters clear for he does have a great sense of smell with a body that can reach great distances. He LOVES attention and has a VERY sweet temperament! Luca is such a great dog you just can’t help but fall in love with him. Luca does require a fenced in yard because he is a hound 😂 If you would like to meet this handsome young man, please go to k9newlife.org and fill out our online adoption application. You will find it under “Dogs for Adoption”

He is so stunning I kept going back to look at him. So...I pulled him. Chester was in a temporary foster and did well. He is quiet and very terrified. Kids do scare him as loud noises do too. He will need a patient person to bring him out of his shell. He has done play group with other males and females with no issue. He occasionally tries to get others to play but is a shy guy and just enjoys being outside. Chester started to play with some toys showing he was becoming comfortable and showing his goofy personality. Will require a fenced yard. He feels vulnerable in the "open" and is a little uncomfortable on a leash when he's not feeling secure. Available anywhere in the US and Canada. Transport is available.

CURRENTLY IN A BOARD AND TRAIN PROGRAM Name: Maze Age: 5 years old Weight: 50 pounds Color: red/white Breed: American English Coonhound Vaccines: up to date Altered: yes Heartworm Status: positive at the shelter, we treated with injections. Energy Level: moderate/active House trained: needs work, will potty outside but also have accidents Crate trained: yes, not fond of the crate Dog friendly: yes Cat friendly: yes. Chased cat then immediately tucked tail and ran in opposite direction Kid friendly: yes Temperament: adventurous, sweet, fun, playful, outdoorsy Adoption fee: 275 Notes: Maze is a jaw dropper with her beautiful coloring and sweet nature. She will be your best friend who joins you as a shot gun rider to ANYWHERE as long as she has her human. Maze loves human attention. She struggled in the shelter without having a human by her side and she was slated for euthanasia. A shelter worker saw this gem and had to save her. She ran errands with the shelter worker to have a break from the stressful life at the shelter. Poor Maze was so kennel stressed she would spin in circles constantly and bay. She is very much a "peopley" dog. She loves everyone she meets and would do best with someone who is home often to spend time with her. Maze would most enjoy a fenced yard to run, play, and track scents. She would also enjoy a human who is patience to help her learn and also someone who is home often as she just adores her people that much. Maze would love to travel and see the world as adventure is her thing! Don't miss your opportunity to have one pretty best friend! Available for adoption anywhere in the US or Canada with transport provided

Story
Our bouncy Ben was picked up by a local animal control.  He was very thin, heart worm positive, and had intestinal parasites.  All of that is behind him now as he has completed treatment for all and is ready to find his forever home.  We really should have named him Tigger as he bounces every where he goes.  He loves to play and also can be a snuggler when he has gotten his energy out.  We don't know how he is with cats as he hasn't been around them.  Ben knows sit and down and is eager to learn more.  He would like a family who will continue with training, and include him in their adventures, keeping in mind that he is a hound and must always be leashed when out because he likes to follow his nose.  He would be a great walking, running, hiking buddy.  If you are that special family who would love  this boy forever, please contact Rainbow Animal Rescue at rainbowanimalrescueva@gmail.com or 757-472-1583April 25, 2024, 2:30 pm

Story
We saw sweet Ginny on Facebook. She was a stray that ended up in a high kill shelter in Virginia. Shortly after she arrived she gave birth to 4 puppies. The shelter had no idea that she was pregnant because she was nothing but skin and bones. We knew we somehow had to get her here to Tennessee so we put our thinking caps on and a lot of wonderful volunteers drove her to our pick up spot in southern VA where our regular transporter picked her and the babies up on his way back to Nashville. We met them in Nashville at 1 AM and drove the family 100 miles back to the rescue. We knew Ginny was young, possibly still a pup herself and our vet confirmed that she was only 11 months at the time of the puppy's birth. Her pups have all been adopted and now it's Ginny's turn! Walker Hounds are very high energy dogs and can be a little stubborn so make sure you research the breed before you make the choice to adopt. We insist on a fenced yard for her so she can have room to free run and enjoy the rest of her life. These dogs are the number one dumped off breed as their owners will desert them if they don't hunt the way they want them too! We have several of them here at the rescue for that very reason. They are fun loving couch potatoes and will bring you many years of joy and happiness! PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION! ADOPTION FEE $650
