Story
Our bouncy Ben was picked up by a local animal control.  He was very thin, heart worm positive, and had intestinal parasites.  All of that is behind him now as he has completed treatment for all and is ready to find his forever home.  We really should have named him Tigger as he bounces every where he goes.  He loves to play and also can be a snuggler when he has gotten his energy out.  We don't know how he is with cats as he hasn't been around them.  Ben knows sit and down and is eager to learn more.  He would like a family who will continue with training, and include him in their adventures, keeping in mind that he is a hound and must always be leashed when out because he likes to follow his nose.  He would be a great walking, running, hiking buddy.  If you are that special family who would love  this boy forever, please contact Rainbow Animal Rescue at rainbowanimalrescueva@gmail.com or 757-472-1583April 18, 2024, 12:14 am

Story
We saw sweet Ginny on Facebook. She was a stray that ended up in a high kill shelter in Virginia. Shortly after she arrived she gave birth to 4 puppies. The shelter had no idea that she was pregnant because she was nothing but skin and bones. We knew we somehow had to get her here to Tennessee so we put our thinking caps on and a lot of wonderful volunteers drove her to our pick up spot in southern VA where our regular transporter picked her and the babies up on his way back to Nashville. We met them in Nashville at 1 AM and drove the family 100 miles back to the rescue. We knew Ginny was young, possibly still a pup herself and our vet confirmed that she was only 11 months at the time of the puppy's birth. Her pups have all been adopted and now it's Ginny's turn! Walker Hounds are very high energy dogs and can be a little stubborn so make sure you research the breed before you make the choice to adopt. We insist on a fenced yard for her so she can have room to free run and enjoy the rest of her life. These dogs are the number one dumped off breed as their owners will desert them if they don't hunt the way they want them too! We have several of them here at the rescue for that very reason. They are fun loving couch potatoes and will bring you many years of joy and happiness! PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION! ADOPTION FEE $650

Story
My name is Winnie and I am a loving 7 year old, 50 pound girl that is a beautiful Hound breed called a Tree Walker.   I was found as a stray in the middle of a rural highway and I am such a soft and gentle girl that loves to lay around and sleep and just be an easy couch potato friend. I am housebroken, love a good tummy rub, pretty nice to all other dogs that I meet and I would be a great companion to a senior, retired person or couple who are looking for an easy dog to love.  I am healthy and spayed and microchipped and I am told that I am pretty, too.  Would you like to have a sweet companion for the next 7-8 years.  I will be happy to make your life so much more special if you invite me home.  Critter Cavalry Rescue is ready to help you adopt me if you write to them at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 17, 2024, 10:21 pm

Story
Our sweet Abby is just a joy to be around. She came from a high kill shelter in South Carolina. We actually saw her on Facebook when they were begging for someone to get her out of there. She was 24 hours away from being euthanized. There are so very many stray hound dogs and the shelters run out of room so they only stay for so long before they are put to sleep. It's very sad. Abby is the sweetest, most loving girl that you will ever meet. She just loves everybody! She is a full blooded Walker hound, approximately 2 years young. She came with heart worms but we treated her and now she is heart worm free. She is also crate trained, fully vaccinated, microchipped and ready for her forever home! could that be you? PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION! ADOPTION FEE $500

Gunter is sturdy and cozy, like your favorite armchair! He's NOT fat -- he's full of love, with just the right amount of goofy exuberance to keep you grinning. This sweet, happy guy was surrendered by his military dad; dad had orders to deploy, and through no fault of his or Gunter's, his dog care plan fell through. In the home, Gunter was a fabulous companion and family pet. He has excellent house manners and loves children and other dogs. Please help get this servicemember's buddy into the loving forever home he deserves!Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.

These precious hounds melted our hearts when they arrived from a rural shelter in NC, where they were found with their mom, completely alone and lacking human contact. Despite their shyness, they're sweet and playful souls, yearning for a patient and loving home to help them blossom. Their mom, a hound mix around 40lbs, gives us hints about their future size, expected to be between 45-65lbs, with Esme being the largest and Lovemore the smallest. At 12 weeks old, they're primed for adoption to families who understand their needs and are committed to building trust. With ongoing crate and house training and a love for canine companions, they're ready to steal your heart. Submit your application today and be the one to give these heartbreakers the love they deserve! Meet Esme, the sweetest girl looking for her forever home! She adores playing with other dogs and enjoys prancing around the backyard. While she's a bit shy with new people, she longs to shower someone with love once she trusts them. If you're seeking a loyal companion willing to share her goofy, puppy-like affection, Esme is the perfect match for you. Adopt Esme today and give her the loving home she deserves! Symbiotic Inc has a required minimum $360 adoption donation upon the completion of the adoption (it is tax deductible!) All dog adoptions include a required one hour virtual session with our partners at Lucky Dogs. This session is at no additional charge www.LuckyDogstraining.net If you think this dog may be a good fit for your family, please visit our website and find out more about our application process. https://symbioticinc.org/adoption-application

Story
Meet Walker! He came into the 4 PAWS family in May 2020; emaciated, heartworm positive and had several wounds. Walker has made a complete transformation! He is a sweet 7-year-old, 74lb silly boy who is good with kids and other dogs but hasn’t been cat tested. Walker was treated for heartworm and has tested negative. This breed mix can be high energy and very smart which means he will require exercise (mentally and physically). He will also need a 6ft fence with plenty of area to run. His new family needs to be committed to daily exercise, continued training, and socialization. If you are interested in adoption; DO NOT CALL, please complete an online application on 4 Paws Animal Rescue's website at www.4pawz.org. We verify the care of past/current pets. Our goal is to have the very best home for all our dogs and cats, and therefore, we reserve the right to approve or deny an application based on what we determine is in the pet's best interest. #lovedogsforever #mixedbreed #walkerhound #rescuedisthebestbreed #dogs #dogsareacommittment #rescuedog #lovedogs #adopt #adoptdontshop His rescue journey video: https://youtu.be/kYnnAodx1lo

Story
Sweet Huck was  a volunteer favorite at the shelter.  He is  2 years old (a baby who was stuck in a rural shelter), 56lbs( is on a diet), neutered, heart worm negative, and current on vaccines.  He revels in attention and knows basic commands.  Huck was an owner surrender and is house and crate trained.  He takes a while to warm up to some men so a slow intro with treats wins him over.   Like most dogs and people, he doesn't respond to yelling or rough treatment.  He loves to go for walks and would love to have a running partner to help him see the world.  He would do best with older children. Huck is a fast learner and is eager to learn new cues and tricks.  He is a snuggle bug according to his foster but would also like to go for a long walk or run.   Because he is a typical beagle, he loves to chew so he would need someone who will work with him and take him to training class.  If you think this adorable boy would make a wonderful addition to your home, PLEASE contact Rainbow Rescue at 757-472-1583 or rainbowanimalrescueva@gmail.comApril 18, 2024, 12:14 am

Story
Clooney is an 8 year old Beagle, Hound mix looking for a new home.  He is used to being the only dog in the house and has not been properly socialized, therefore does not do well sharing with other dogs.  Clooney needs training with positive reinforcement.  He likes his people and makes a great companion.  He is a Hound that follows his nose so he will need leash walks or a fenced area to roam in.  If you can help with fostering this handsome guy until we can find him a great new home, please let us know.  ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 17, 2024, 10:21 pm
